Hey Revo I have a question the s6 and s8 are the same engine right because when I look up parts like power steering pump I can’t find it for s6 new or remanufactured but when I look it up for s8 I find it.

Power steering pump

Thanks I checked ecs earlier and I never found it

When we make the headers you need to take 02 location into consideration but since this is worked out in the tune it’s less of an issue.

We’ve built a lots of headers at this point and they for sure make power and more power than just manifolds with no cats by a good degree throughout the entire rev range. However; for the money you still can’t go wrong with just pulling out the cats.

Here is something to think about. If we just built headers with nothing more than just long runners that ended up at a collector. You’d make the same or actually a little less than just gutting the cats on OEM manifolds. I wouldn’t modify the OEM units. Just remove the cats if you feel so inclined and are looking for a bump in power.

As for the 02s. Just replace them with fresh 02s. Don’t skimp on the 02s. Remember most cars have over 100k on them and they didn’t need the 02s replaced in that time frame. As long as you’re not running race gas every week. They should be fine for quite a while. Even if you beat on the car.

Ok thank you and if I do pull the cats would it fail inspection?

Another question does it matter if I use aftermarket sealant then the genuine one?

You will never fail the visual inspection as one nobody can see the cats from the top. If you leave the cans in and just gut them then obviously its impossible for anyone to know there are no cats in there.

depending on your emissions standards and how the tests are run if you get the JHM tune for no cats you should be good to pass emissions. But again this is dependent on your local requrements.

aftermarket sealant is ok just make sure it handles the temp and usage requirements

Hey

This is everything that was done on my car. As for sealant, we used Mercedes sealant since my cousin works as a Mercedes mechanic and says it is the best. I have had zero leaks since the rebuild.

Ok thanks guys

So the jhm tune will pass the emissions in NY? That’s all I’m worried about

Hey so i was wondering since i stripped the flywheel bolts could i use these to replace it they look the same but in a form i would rather prefer them to be in

Does the balance shaft gaskets have to be changed? And if so if I change the gaskets without removing the balance shaft would the balance shaft be offset at all or would I need the tool to fix it

I do not know how far you have torn the engine down, but if you have not messed with the timing chain circled in blue, you do not have to re-clock the balance shaft.

I haven’t got there yet I’m just asking before I go for it but I plan on changing every tensioner so your saying I have to re balance the balanceshaft if I pull that off right?

As long as you do NOT loosen (or remove) the sprocket from the end of the balance shaft and put match marks on the chain, crank and balance shaft sprockets before removing the chains, you will be able to restore the correct timing relationship between the crank and balance shaft.

So should I bother with that gasket or just let it be? Does it normally leak?

The only leak you would notice that is related to the balance shaft would be either out of the front bearing housing or its cover. Those are the three o-rings on the rhs of the picture below. You would see oil coming out around the cover just above the crank pulley. They were not leaking on my engine.

Ok thank you
