Engine drop question

I do not think so. That looks like it is near the SAI and I checked the two docs and did not see anything that looked like it was there.

Most of the connections are with larger nuts and some have frames around them to lock in the wires.

When I had a strange intermittent start problem on another car, it turned out it was a loose connection on the trigger wire, though your theory about something failing when hot could certainly be an issue.

I am not an electrical expert, but have you checked for voltage and voltage drains on anything related to the failures you are experiencing?

Have you been able to log any values with VCDS that might give you a clue?

And last stupid question: Have you checked the batteryā€™s health?

I never had a chance to check the voltage after I changed that one relay that made the car cut off. Regardless Iā€™m going to change the computer and Iā€™m going to change every other relay on the car and eliminate that stuff from the list

Yes the battery is fine and Iā€™ll check car again with vcds when I get a chance

Hey guys where do you get the Bentley manual from for the car

Hey guys this relay right here keeps burning out and the car wonā€™t drive fast only slowly and doesnā€™t shift fast when I drive it fast. I just changed the relay today and it burned out

I believe this is a power supply relay

I drove it around when I changed for a bit and it burned out

Apparently a fuse was popped out on the cooling fan and I assumed that made the relay get hot and it doesnā€™t anymore so my new problem is the cooling fan will not turn off and will keep running until it kills the battery I keep getting code cooling fan 1 control and on the vcds it saids p0480 do you guys know what may cause that? Is it a relay or something? Could it be the computer going bad?

Itā€™s the fan itself causing the issue. Sounds the same as what was happening with my car. I ended up needing to replace the fans. Iā€™d suggest getting new units instead of used since the used units may be extremely loud. I ended up going through 4 fans trying to go the used route. Good luck.

Damn when I got this fan it was loud it must of been going bad from before

The fans draw a TON of amps and if there is a short in the fans. You are going to have a nighmare of a time and that can put a huge draw on the entire system. I would try to unplug the main power to the fans before you jump in any deeper. You should be able to see if that helps fix the issue before moving on.

Obviously it goes without saying. If your going to unplug the fans donā€™t plan a test drive that puts you in city traffic at a stand still for 45min.

Ok Iā€™ll try that and Iā€™m out in Long Island itā€™s not too bad

Hey guys never got a chance to try the fan thing because Iā€™m on vacation but i was thinking about my car and I was wondering if I got JHM tune would it make car run better and smoother with the two 02 sensors that are not working or I get open circuit for one of them or the other one that works or shows slow response. From what I notice when one of them are working the car doesnā€™t shake that bad but when itā€™s both itā€™s a bit noticeable and by the way they are both heated 02 sensors.

Here is my suggestion as it seems your close to being able to have most of this sorted out. Start a new thread. Call it something like the fan and list of codes diagnosis. Make your first post a picture of where all of the water was and any and all fuses and relays that were or are bad.

The 02 codes MIGHT be linked back to the relays or different relays you havenā€™t changed or tested yet.
As mentioned when the fans turn on the pull a ton of amperage and that puts a huge load on the car. Sometimes in this thread I never checked back in on some of your questions due to me thinking some of the posts were going to be engine drop related and it seems it has moved past that.

As for the 02s JHM tune can and will help depending on what 02 sensor and what code. If your getting any S1 codes. Thats bad and can be a bigger issues. But it sounds like we have a list of electronic gremlins going on here. And if we get them sorted we might be able to sort out a lot of these other codes.

Question how high were your you? I am doing the same shat man. But a ton of self mods. Been ghosting sites. And looks like you got this down man. Thanks for the killer pics and all the details man. You saved me time, money, and God knows frustration my Audi brother. I feel I owe ya oneā€¦Iā€™ll keep ya informed. I am doing the same. But I straight piped, Deleted spare, wrapped and got em as non restricted as possible.

I got an X pipe in there as well.
Relocated the canister and rerouted the lines. To where the right muffler was. Made a shield for it. Totally modified her front bumper. Iā€™ll send pics. Putting an AL frame in it now. Custom matte graphite paint. Upgraded ceramic brake s drilled n slotted. Brembo. Need to decide on my suspension upgradeā€¦any suggestions?

You need to post some pictures! :open_mouth::stuck_out_tongue:

Your very welcome and I also pulled the engine out again 2 days ago and changed the o2 sensors I got very annoyed of the codes and I just put it back in last night. This time I used a lift I bought from my friend which pretty much went up to the same height as when I did it the first time. Iā€™m glad my pictures help guide you.

Hey guys what is the nm to the subframe bolts

  • 115 Nm plus an additional 90 degree turn - these are the ones securing the front subframe to the chassis.

Always replace (torque to yield bolts)
