EYEspI/ Mantis GIAC stage 2 issues

I completely see what your saying. I was just thinking the environment here would be less drama more information. The trade off would be getting the right people to see it. I think if the giac sales guys and awe guys were sent a link it would be much friendlier over here. If they didn’t take the opportunity to help him here where the members are more level headed after given the link…then just post the link on AZ. This way Ryan can say I didn’t want to go wide open with this over on AS where the first 20 responses will be attacks on giac…I just saw how well it worked for Pete with awe…Tod cane to help and I would think if there was a thread here it would happen again…Ryan would have to send them a link but I think there are enough giac guys that serf here that it would quickly make its way to them…

Either approach fact is a thread created somewhere would be a good idea…if if they fixed it…

The shop that did the flash install had the car today, they apparently reloaded the software and still had the same issues, they then loaded the DSG file form GIAC and wonders never cease, the car behaves as it should.

So I currently have both the GIAC stage 2 and the DSG files installed, I did pay a small amount for there time and a heavily rebated DSG file. I plan to allow the software to adapt and see how it works out. The car just doesn’t feel very strong, but I must add that all odd DSG behaviours seem to be gone, no more clunk into first while creeping along.

I am not convinced that I will be keeping the GIAC programming at this point, I don’t feel I fully trust either GIAC or the installing shop. I have another dyno scheduled for this coming Saturday, conditions should be slightly more favorable than last week, but not by much. I would like to see a 320whp average on my runs, if that doesn’t happen I will most likely exercise my 30day money back guarantee and move my business to APR.

I have had correspondence with Seth @ GIAC, as well I spoke at length with Garrett and sent Austin an email. I am rather disappointed that the apparent remedy is to purchase more product, I feel that this should either be rectified or at least make all potentially affected customers fully aware of the issues.

I would like to have an opportunity to see my current path out before I kick the hornets nest over on AZ

With a tune and a pulley you should expect to see what your apr2 acquaintance had. They should be very close as trap speed analysis has shown.

Personally I wouldn’t spend more dyno money. Just go race that guy.

Also if you can get a full rebate on the tune and pulley and tcu, do it.

Ryan, Glad things are progressing… I still don’t think you should be required to have a DSG tune, obviously no stage II APR cars do yet… My points on the post on AZ were based on you not getting anywhere… If they are working with you then a post isn’t needed… I just wonder how many others out there will experience this?

Our local dyno owner/operator gives us a great deal, it will only be an additional $50 to strap it down.

I have been informed that a full refund is not possible, the exorbitant cost of the pulley would not qualify for the money back portion, so no matter how it pans out, I will still be out of pocket some

I will have to wait another couple of weeks for my friend to be back in town, he works oilfield and just started his next hitch yesterday, when he is back we will get together and do some runs

Ron, I do plan on documenting on AZ, I will post all my information once I have gathered it all up. Most likely I will make one large post and then leave it there for the masses to debate, but I do feel that the information needs to be out there for the largest audience, an additional $700 tune is a big pill to swallow if you had no expectation of requiring it.

Thanks for all the input guys, I’ve asked Clochner to split this thread off at post 89 and re title it to “EYEspI/Mantis GIAC stage 2 issues”

^^ Topic has been split along with the title you requested.

Thanks Brandon

Sorry to read about your hassles.

Let me look into this and see if there is something we can do to help.

Will respond when I have questions or comments.

Thanks Todd, I appreciate that. I had hopes that I would be putting down some good 1/4mi passes this summer, so I still have some time to get this figured

The car drives better with the new dsg strategy , I just find it hard to believe that it was absolutely required, perhaps the same results could have been had with a software update at the dealership, less of course launch control

Nice! + karma… Keep us posted Todd…

AWEsome to see awe jump in like that. When you pay good money you expect good support. Keep us posted…

EYEspI, if you could PM me what shop did your software flash, I’d appreciate it. I want to look though our flash records to see what file they uploaded. The flash log will eliminate some confusion.

Looks like AWE/ Giar are still helping out but I just wanted to add that after experiencing the EPC light issue with APR while most didn’t I think that there are some minor differences possibly even within model years on these cars that mess with the aftermarket tunes. Hope it all works out for you.

Todd, I pm’d you, thanks

Got the PM, thanks.

In the interest of not spreading incorrect info and causing unintentional hysteria, my investigation may take a day or two. I ask that you bear with me, and we’ll get to the bottom of this.

Cool?

It’s awesome that you’re stepping in to help, Todd…

Yea, great of you to step in. It sucks being the customer in this situation and its worse when the company isn’t really helping resolve the issue.

Good stuff Todd. I’m (and I’m sure others are too) interested on the necessity for the DSG tune. This would be the first that any of us heard about that. Weird but it seems to say on GIACs site that “x2” stage is the AWE pulley and that the DSG tune is required…(?). That brings the final tab for someone like eyespI to somewhere near $3500? Wow. Can’t be right.

Correct Jspazz, came in right at about $3200 after the DSG file, that was due to the DSG file being discounted. Definitely a bit more than I wanted to spend.

I am extremely happy Todd is looking into things, if it doesn’t help me at the very least it will help the next guy along
