Surprised to hear the bermuda goes dormant in central Fl, I woulda figured it’d make it through the winter okay. We do the same thing here. Well, we do, not many spend the money to do it though.
Good story though and glad to hear you had a good time golfin! Post up some more pics if you got em.
Went back to Florida a couple of weeks ago for a winter tune up. Played 4 rounds in 4 days in Orlando. Lots of fun.
Stayed at the Omni Orlando Champions Gate. Nice hotel, great pool areas, and 2 courses on site. We played them both…the National and the International. I would skip the National next time, and just play the International if doing it over again. Much more interesting course with loads of wildlife.
Saw gators, all kinds of neat birds including Sandhill cranes and all sorts of herons/egrets. Also great birds of prey, including Red Shouldered Hawks (they’re I think endangered or ‘of concern’ down there in Florida) and on one hole, we had a surprise visitor fly up and land at the edge of a pond right where we were teeing off…
Also got back to Bay Hill. After the round we talked to Mr Palmer for a bit. He had a bad wing (right shoulder) and pretty big bruises on his face. Must have had a fall or something. Hope he gets better soon. Super nice.
It was a neat day at Bay hill. Because it was early January no tour events were on, so the Bay Hill members who play the tour were pretty much all hanging around practicing/playing. In the space of half an hour after our round we saw Suzann Petterson (world#2) on the range (she was a couple of groups behind us when we played too). She just frigging striped it the whole time. Then Rocco Mediate was there practicing and working out, and he had lunch with Palmer. It’s funny, we were about 3 tables away from them when we had lunch and for like 5 minutes none of us said anything…we were just staring at Arnie the whole time. My buddy is a member there and has met him a bunch and still gets mesmorized lol. Ryo Ishikawa is another member there.
Played like shit on the front, a little better on the back. I hit a good drive on 18, and still had 184 in from the left rough. Hole is a beast because then you have to hit something superhero ish at the pin…and hope to cover the rocks/pond…or you have to play left of it, and have a very tough putt (or a tough as balls bunker shot if you pull it). I hit 7 iron from here 20 feet left of the pin and 2 putted fortunately. Played the last few holes well. Par-Par-Par-Bogey-Par-Bogey-Par. Missed 3 birdie putts under 10 feet annoyingly. Otherwise, still rusty. Shot 81-80-82-80 my four rounds. Close ,but just winter weak.
here’s 18 at Bay Hill. That’s actually not the clubhouse that you finish at. It’s just someone’s house. Funny. Nobody knows that watching on TV. Clubhouse is across the street.
Sounds like quite the trip! I remember seeing Palmer at Augusta eating lunch with his grandson a few years back. The reaction in my group was the same - we just kind of stared for a few minutes lol.
Pretty awesome that some of the Tour players were out there. I didn’t realize that so many of them practice at Bay Hill.
Oh yeah, what did you talk to Palmer and Rocco about? Just shooting the shit?
Palmer, we just said hi and that the course is playing great. Usual stuff you say to someone like that lol. It’s overseeded (the bermuda rough in central florida goes dormant / yellow in winter, so they overseed with Rye which stays green) and in amazing shape. Greens were VEEEERRRRRRY slow though. When I was there in March, we played 4 days in a row, starting the Thursday after the TOUR event, so the greens were amazingly fast still. In the fall and winter they run the greens quite a bit slower. Probably 8.0 on the stimp. 10.5-11 for the tournament.

I don’t buy his story for a minute. He got shitfaced at a wine bar and strip club, probably blacked out and fell on his face, and then his cash was stolen. No way he was “drugged.” Anyone think differently?
I totally buy his story. The problem is nobody is listening to his story. They are listening to headlines from unnamed witnesses and believing them as fact. 'Allenby spent $3500 at strip joint at 12am". Really? because that’s a pretty strong headline considering NOBODY from the strip joint has confirmed that, and there is no CCTV footage or a copy of a bill to show that. Further, the guy was robbed and someone stole his wallet and racked up $25,000 on his cards. Anyone stop to think it wasn’t the real allenby at the stripjoint?
Here’s all Allenby has said he knows:
-He went out for dinner, and had 2 bottles of wine between 3 guys (confirmed by restaurant). You think that’s going to get him drunk? 3 glasses each…he’s 6’4" 210 lbs. No that’s not getting him drunk.
-Surveillance video shows him walking around fine at 10:30 in the restaurant.
-At 10:48 he pays his bill
-At 11:06 he walks out with 3 strangers (not his friends) and he can barely stand up. Guess those 3 glasses of wine finally hit him? Or his roofy did.
From there, it’s not till 1:30 he remembers anything else, and all of the other details were what was told to him by a homeless woman and a passerby.
The reason everyone is doubting him is because he originally came to and a homeless broad asked him what he was doing there and if he was ok. He said he was at Amuse wine bar with his friends. She told him ‘that’s 6 miles from here’. She was wrong. It was 100 yards from there.
Allenby said he woke up dumped 6 miles from the bar…basically repeating the information he was given.
Then the next day info came out that some other homeless guys (who have since been arrested for outstanding unrelated warrants) said they saw him 100 yards from the bar, passed out, on the ground at 11:30. They left him. They said that they went back that way a couple hours later, and he was still there, and they tried to wake him and that’s when he got up and smashed his face. This was after 1 am. He was disoriented, thinking they were the 3 guys he left the wine bar with.
When this fact came out that he was never 6 miles away, but was only 100 yards away, everyone said ‘HE’S LYING about his whole story!!’ and the whole ‘doubt allenby’ game was on in the media.
But people need to make up their mind because
he said the 6 miles thing because that’s what he was told. he has repeatedly said he remembers nothing after 11 oclock. He is only repeating what people told him.
if you believe the homeless guys who said he was 100 yards from the wine bar, not 6 miles…why don’t you believe them that he was there on the side of the road the whole time? because if you believe that strip joint report, you don’t believe the 2 homeless guys. They said he was laying, unconscious, in that same spot. Did he regain consciousness, and then go to the strip joint for an hr, and rack up a 3500 dollar tab when he can’t walk…only to then return to the side of the road to firm up his ‘I didn’t go to a strip joint’ alibi because the 2 homeless guys he was too unconscious to talk to were coming back?
That’s a stretch lol
The other thing nobody wants to talk about is we are listening to two alcoholic homeless people with criminal records and outstanding warrants. Because homeless people never seize opportunity and steal wallets/phones/cash from vulnerable people lol. Allenby lost an iPhone, $800 cash, and his credit cards. First purchase with the cards? 2 bottles of tequila. Yeah that sounds nothing like a homeless guy’s first purchase lol.

‘a source said he was at the femme nu strip club and had a bill of $3400’
Again…who is the source? where is the confirmation? Suddenly this is a fact?
Further, if he was at the strip club, why are we believing the homeless guys that he was only 100 yards away from the restaurant he left? Because those two ‘sources’ and ‘facts’ now contradict each other, and neither of them were floated by Allenby. So now what?
Does anyone in their right mind think this was all an elaborate ruse to cover up being at a strip joint? AKA he calls the police, posts on facebook, smashes up his own face, and creates this media maelstrom…just to HIDE the fact he went to the rippers?

I never questioned that he was robbed - but yes I did believe that he was trying to hide what actually happened that night (likely because of his teenage kids). When the reports of him being thrown into the trunk of a car were called into question, I thought he lost all credibility. Just didn’t add up. Kidnapping a 43 year old man in Honolulu just seems strange. The likelier scenario, I thought, was just him blacking out and getting robbed.
How long does a roofy last? Because he’s claiming it wore off in about 2 hours. Is that consistent with the duration of being drugged? I honestly don’t know. Also, I believe he took a drug test shortly after the incident, but the results haven’t been released.
But sak you raise a lot of good points. I’ll back off my original post for the time being and just wait for the results of the investigation.

Alright Waste Management starts tomorrow. Solid field this year - lots of big names. And obviously, there’s Tiger. Looks like he’s slimmed down a bit? Shld be interesting to see how he fares. Any way to stream this thing? Would love to have it on my phone at work tomorrow and Friday.
Btw - how did Padraig Harrington get in? Thought he lost his Tour card.
Why would you go to the media and police if you were trying to hide something ?
Did he pay off the homeless guys to call him a liar and draw attention to potential inaccuracies? Because if you believe the homeless guys, you don’t believe the strip club story as the fingerless conflict each other .
If he was at the strip joint and checked out with a $3400 tab at midnight, how on earth did he do that in 30 minutes? (footage shows him leaving the restaurant at 11:06pm…presumably he wouldn’t get settled at the strip joint till 1130. He checked out at midnight according to this very vague report) .
So what did he do… Get 50 three minute lap dances (which would take 2.5hrs) at $20 a piece for him and 3 friends…all before they checked out 30 minutes after arriving? Or maybe they each had six girls at a time for 30 minutes … 6 x $20 x (30/3)) = $1200 each x3 = 3600. That’s the only way to get the math to work. Even if they had 3 bottles of dom at $500 a pop leaving $2000 for strippers for 3 guys, the story and tab is basically impossible in 30 minutes
Why is everyone scrutinizing allenby yet NOBODY is scrutinizing these bullshit ‘reports’?
Did he go to the media, or was it the other way around? I thought the Golf Channel obtained a copy of the photograph he posted on his private Facebook account.
Again, like I said, you raise good points that I hadn’t thought of before.
