Sounds great bear…

That must be DCT, those downshifts were perfect…right…?

What’s the inside sound like? I laugh at the poor C63 owners who can’t hear how awesome their cars sound like when they are sitting inside.

bangoman - Thanks man! I’m actually very surprised at how much I enjoy driving a V8! Originally my main concern has always been speed/performance but there is something visceral about the sound of a V8 engine/exhaust that just adds to the overall driving experience…

Sak - I’m the same way! lol! I almost never shift at 8300-8400rpm. I guess my brain feels there’s an appropriate amount of time that I should be holding a gear and that’s way before 8400rpm…

As J quickly pointed out (with absolutely no faith in my gear changing abilities I might add) it’s a DCT.

J - Where’s the faith man? Dang, how do you know I can’t heel toe like mofo… lol! But yes it’s a DCT.

Cabin sound is great! I actually hear more engine noise than exhaust and it sound wonderful!!! I’ll try to take an in cabin video and post that up.

Lol bear, if I didn’t have faith why were you driving the silver car back last time…

I guess that statement would have made more sense if the silver car wasn’t a semiautomatic though lol

Wicked, man. That must be so much fun to drive.

Thanks man! and the car is a blast!

We really need to get everyone together and hit up the track/strip and a few beers afterward wouldn’t hurt… Love to meet all you’ll in person! ;D

That mic is in stock on amazon.ca for 22.99 with free ship over 25 dollars. Good deal if you’re ordering something anyway or don’t mind spending 2.50 on some pens lol

Made some Christmas magic after dinner, nothing special and just a quick edit to throw the video together with some music, enjoy:

I had no idea GoPro was this big. Seems that revenues were well in excess of $500 million last year.

[quote]GoPro is going public.

The San Mateo, Calif.-based action camera company announced today in a press release that it had filed confidential initial public offering documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell its common stock. In order to file for a confidential IPO under the JOBS Act, a company must have less than a $1 billion in sales.

Last year, Founder and CEO Nick Woodman told FORBES that the company sold 2.3 million cameras, grossing more than $520 million in 2012. That continued a trend of doubled year-over-year sales since the company debuted its first camera–a 35 mm film device–in 2004. Given the company’s confidential filing, it appears that GoPro did not double revenues in 2013, despite selling $100 million in cameras last January, according to CEO Woodman.

A company spokesperson declined to comment. As of last week, company representatives denied that the company had plans to go public in the near future.

According to Woodman in interviews last year, GoPro, “has been profitable since day one.” Bootstrapped by its founder since its early days, the company has only had two rounds of outside funding, the latest being a $200 million investment by Chinese electronics manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., better known as Foxconn, in December 2012. That investment valued the company at $2.25 billion and made 38-year-old Woodman, who sources said owns about 45% of the company, a billionaire.

GoPro, whose parent company is actually called Woodman Labs, and its executives have long maintained that they did not need to go public. Lacking the pressure of outside investors felt by other venture-backed Silicon Valley companies, the camera firm has been able to navigate its own path since launching in 2003, growing from a niche product for surfers to a marketing machine with an ubiquitous presence at sporting events. Today, Woodman, who filmed his two sons births with his product, is angling for an even an bigger proposition: to make the $300 devices your go-to camera to record all of life’s special moments.

“If we can become the de facto standard for image capture of unique perspectives around the world we have a lot of growth ahead of us,” he said last year.

While sales growth may have slowed based on news of the confidential filing, GoPro will certainly hope to find that type of growth as a public company. Other technology firms who filed for an IPO under the JOBS Act in the last year include Twitter and Box, an online storage company.

So I bought a Hero 4 Black recently, mostly for car stuff but I’m sure I’ll find other uses for it. I picked the suction cup mount and also the Audio-Technica ATR-3350 mic which was hard to pass up at $20. Finally I bought a $5 frame mount so I could use the mic at the same time. After that I had quite a few pieces and really just wanted something that could get any angle regardless of where it was mounted. This is what I came up with.

Hanging it from the sunroof:

Too much lol?

lets bump this thread for more info or any additional ideas

Great bump. The suction cup. Anyone have a camera fall off at high speeds I would like the idea of some of the the action shots with the camera on the car but I would always worry the camera is going to fall of and break.

I had my GoPro mounted to the top of a buddy’s 68 Camaro for an 1/8th mile event. The mount stayed in tact the entire time through the hard launches and the fastest it went was 145mph, but they weren’t sustained speeds. I just made sure the surfaces were cleaned before mounting.

I plan on using it when i go to quattro de mayo and to get great footage of the mountain runs.

Will a go pro live after a fall off the car.

If it’s in the plastic case, it’ll survive a bunch of torture.

If it isn’t, I think the lens would definitely break on a fall from a car onto the street.

Do you guys have any good video editing software or suggestions?

I have a Hero2 I use for my on board for the race car. I generally cut out a good 1/4 of the video since our pace laps and cool down laps take awhile, plus sitting on grid for 5+ minutes

Which OP system? The MAC comes with a pretty user friendly system on it already. Adobe premier is badass, but takes some time getting used to. Once you do though its above what i used on a older MAC. Granted im talking about a few years ago.

If you just want to shorten the clips and not do too much editing, just use the GoPro Studio software, it’s free. Otherwise, Adobe Premiere is great and it’s really easy to learn and use. You can find tutorials online that are really helpful. It’s also very similar to the Apple Final Cut Pro. A lot of the shortcuts are even the same. Let me know if you need some help getting going.

I have Windows 7, and I had been using AVS Video Editor for shortening my clips. I also do the video editing for our pro team stuff and was kinda looking for something to use to make more professional type videos for that. I think tonight I’ll look into Adobe Premiere
