the fact that PES was too dumb to do their homework and review a compressor map when choosing the M90. They just got something cheap that fit…and charged $12,000+ for it ($14k for the RS4 even though it needs no fuelling upgrades)
VF Engineering also used the M90 for the RS4/S4.
For a little history, APR created an Eaton M90 supercharger kit for the B67 S4. They took AGES to release it. Why? The gains weren’t worth it and they didn’t feel comfortable asking for thousands of dollars for not much of a gain vs. good tune/exhaust. The ‘2 weeks’ delay went viral from this debacle.
What did APR do? They spent even more money bringing in help from outside…trying to rescue the program. When it became clear the M90 was not good enough, they did what you would expect a good company to do. They looked at the M112, but fitment and cooling wouldn’t work in a top mount manifold design. So instead, they ate a $100,000 shitburger, canned the project and never launched it.
VF Engineering and PES? They went balls deep into the M90 and destroyed their reputations lol. Well, over here. UK guys are happy to shell out $10,000+ for the M90 kits so those companies have good businesses over there. The guys there don’t have a fucking CLUE about measuring performance (for the most part…some of them are pretty sharp and realise they’re buying performance parts, so they want to test performance lol…i.e. S4danny/s4player/rs4danny and a few others…but a minority to be sure). The UK guys are reviled at the thought of actually doing performance testing, choosing instead to jerkoff onto a dyno sheet printout.
Did you know that you can buy an Eaton M90 for less than $1000? lol
Anyway
