I haven't seen a company fight the 1/4 mile this hard in a while

I really do not have time to address Jared and his hilarious accusations right now. The fact that we actually spoke to Jared about this project before we started makes his dribble even more fun to read. If someone doesn’t like what we do, then don’t buy the product. If Jared wants to race my car, then he can make the short drive to the Bay Area. I work at 034, I’m here everyday with my S4. I don’t claim my car is faster anyways, but it would be awesome to show customers how close the race is considering the amount of money he spent on his custom setup.

But I’ll be happy to make a response addressing individual accusations later on.

Also, since apparently this has been missed before, this is a BUDGET-MINDED single turbo kit; please stop comparing a custom hand-fabbed tubular manifold single turbo kit with a ball bearing turbo, to a journal bearing turbo kit utilizing an OEM manifold setup. No one has hid the fact that compromises have been made to make a certain price point. This is a log manifold simple single turbo setup.

We are offering as close to a “bolt on” kit as possible, and the primary goal is to offer a kit at a budget price point that allows power output flexibility and negates the need to pull the motor again. Not once have we claimed it to be faster then another single turbo kit, or even faster then compared twin turbos. All I have claimed is that performance is similar and the price point is more attractive to some.

The car is on straight 91 Calfornia octane; what does he expect from 475whp?

Looks like someone just got called out. You guys should seriously meet up and race…

What accusations and wtf is he talking about me for, I’m pretty sure he can contact me if needed. Nice attempt at a redirect though.

Cali race wars!!!

Jared have you done anything else with your car or just enjoying it where it stands?

I know this is between 2 single turbo cars but can we throw a tial and jhm rs6r car in the mix?

So I called and talked to max and hopefully put this to bed, I probably didn’t need to get so annoyed by this and its my fault for letting his comments about his own system get under my skin. I explained that it rubbed me the wrong way for him to say singles will never out spool twins, he said he was talking directly about their stk, my problem with that revolved around people applying that as a blanket statement to all kits, including mine or maybe even another companies who has possibly built it to ne able to spool better.

I also directly addressed my issues with them rushing a kit to market that I happen to know will be hindered by the manifolds. I had a customer recently try and scrap his whole project based off maxs posts on AZ in regards to singles. I had to talk him down from a belief it was going to be laggy, but this was not maxs fault and therefore my anger was misguided.

Since I can’t say this on AZ, I will say it here, I am sorry to max and 034, I have zero ill will towards them and I do hope they get it all dialed.

Max and I also discussed doing some friendly pulls. He understands why some want to see it go down the quarter, he seems legitimately concerned with breaking stuff, even though I disagree with the need to worry, it is his car in the end.

It’s down, 3 aluminum flywheels this year. I need to machine my own steel flywheel for the cm850 as when I drift and sustain high revs (8000-8500 for up to 30 seconds at a time easily) the starter ring fails. I will throw some pics up next time my laptop is on, got really luck last time.

I think you kind of mentioned that you thought they ripped you off a bit. On the first page. But you deleted it.

Considering they asked me about placements, clearances, etc and then came up with a plan only after pictures of my secondary were published I would say they got a little more than ideas from my work. It was more like a road map.

Could any competent fabricator figure it out in time? Yes. But I don’t think I am being a jerk to say my detailed pics gave anyone looking an idea of what to do and what not to do if you wanted to keep oem bodywork.

I believe my wording was “bite off my ideas”

Yeah, would suck if they did

This was funny…who is FLA S4? Sounds like he is reading this thread, and consolidating posts from here and addressing them to 034 on AZ
First off, I don’t know who Jared is or even to who you are referring to.

Second, I asked a question and several others in this thread, as I want to see what this thing can do in the 1/4 mile. The 1/4 mile is the standard measurement of performance of all car platforms. Car manufactorers, various magizines and events, such as Eurotuner GP which you guys compete in, test and produce 1/4 mile figures. I’ve never seen anyone reference FATS or 60-130 times.

I’d like to see how this compares powerwise to other car flatforms and other turbos for the B5. I want to see how it performs in all gears especially where 90% of the people driving spend their time. How is the lag between the 1-2 shift? Does it fall out of its powerband? How does it spool in all the gears? Traction problems? Plus I thought you said that you were going to go to the track earlier in this thread?

I just want to see proven performance. Other performance shops in other platforms take their products to test at the track. Why not 034? It gives you great real world testing in the harshest of settings to test all variables. This kit which is only being tested in 1 car has how many miles on it? About 5,000 miles? I would just like to see more rigorous testing be done and the performance be validated by real world data and any problems are sorted out before I buy it as a customer. Not FATS which you admittly say is not suited to this kist performance or videos of quick pulls on on ramps.

People post highway races here all the time and people always say take it to the track where it’s safe and regulated. 1/4 mile provides you a safe setting in which you can go WOT for 4 gears in a row and is reconized by just about every car enthusists.

Also I don’t know why you are afraid to break a $115 axle when you work at 034 and 034 is using your car as a beta car to produce this product and you have put so much into this car already.

Thirdly, I just spent $2,000 buying your guy’s products 2 weeks ago and I have been a customer for over 3 years. So I don’t represent some other company or anybody else. I am a customer and I try and research everything before I buy a product.

Fortunately it sounds like the pushback has gotten through and they will indeed go to the strip eventually (although I won’t hold my breath, at least the guys are getting through)

but man…this guy is REALLY prepping people for a shitty result. Pulling all of the anti quarter mile bullshit (almost like he doesn’t understand how consistent trap speeds are a long as you are a reasonable driver) and a boatload of pre race excuses. Again…aren’t these guys running a racing fucking team? Can ANYONE shift fucking gears?

My favorite is saying the dyno is as good for telling about a car as the quarter nuke because it is more controlled.

Sorry bud…you can cheat on the dyno all day, but you can’t cheat the dragstrip…they’re not going to lie on the clocks so some tuner can scam people lol.
I guess he doesn’t get that the quarter mile provides awesome data in a controlled environment that you CAN’T fake. The dyno? Give me a break. Correction factors and load trickery anyone?

Again…nobody is saying 034 are full of shit, but many of the sketchy tuners are , so why would 034 advocate and endorse a testing mechanism that can be fucked with (dyno) while disparaging one that can’t (quarter mile)? It would be in their best interest to distance themselves fro mthe dyno, if their products work. JHM started doing this a while back. VAST 1.0 did as well. They found it an effective way to shine a light on their competition’s shortcomings by throwing down great dragstrip passes with their products while their competitors hid behind dyno sheets. This completely eradicated any dyno sales trickery in the B6/7 forum. Vendors who drop a dyno in their and expect big sales get chased out of the forum if they don’t show real performance testing.
1/4 mile times from magazines and manufacturers are typically done with similar drivers, and more specifically, are done with specific tire and suspension choices (stock!!!). When you start adding in variables such as myself, my tires, my custom suspension settings, my clutch, my transmission’s health, traction, etc…the 1/4 mile becomes more a measurement of driver skill and chassis setup then anything else. If you feel you can determine a car’s potentially performance via its trap speed, then you can just as easily determine a car’s potential performance via it’s dyno graph (which is the least subjective and most controlled environment, and still isn’t great).

If we had one single drive who could go around the world doing the driving for every 1/4 mile test there is, things would be a bit better, but then you still end up dealing with the other massive variables that modded cars encounter. If we all had automatic launch control and paddle shifters like GT-R’s do, it would also be a lot easier.
Pretty much standard practice in the B5 S4 scene, big power by the shop who’s pushing their own product, many reason’s why the car can’t perform @ the track or mph but does perform in their own controlled surroundings.

4-5 members from other boards who physically viewed this car in person & all pretty much said the same thing, I listed them below. Friend of another friend witness the car, drove in the car & his comments matched the list below plus this “definitely not making anything close to the claimed power, not impressed & would rather have K04 turbocharges”

 1. What a mess
 2. Asking to catch fire
 3. They all agree the fire extinguisher was the only thing that made sense on the car
 4. Poorly built/low quality/nothing made sense
 5. Far to much relocating

Personally never witness the car in person, was their not to long ago but the car wasn’t their & by only
looking @ the photos I rather not give my opinion :o

guess there will be a thread update soon

Here is everything that is wrong with the B5 S4 community…
Indeed WTF guys, why all this bitchin about 1/4 mile times. How many people have bought the Tial R770’s and S605’s up to today … Alot! And how many 1/4 data is there to be found on the net? Not much but the kit’s are proven.
umm…the 1/4 mile time is what people want to see to prove the kit(s) are making power and are able to deliver it. How the fuck are Tials proven if you just admitted there is not much 1/4 mile data? He seems to think that because a bunch of guys bought the Tial kits, they get a pass and ‘are proven’. Really?

Lots of guys bought PES superchargers.
Lots of guys bought VF superchargers.
Lots of guys bought those RP K04 replicas.
Lots of guys bought china K04 turbos.

Incredible.

Yea that was a lil crazy how are they proven without drag times i guess there proven to make big numbers on the dyno and 60-130 so if youre on the autobahn it would come in handy…now some people have proven they can go down the 1/4 mile but not enough to call them proven i would say like a K04

www.audirevolution.net/quartermile

would like to see more Tial cars on the list. Problem is they keep running 12s and burying their timeslips.

One Tial 605 car recently went 11.4 @ 122? pump + meth, custom/self tuned.

No slip apparently since he was kicked off of the track for going too fast w/o safety equipment.

what safety equipment would you need to trap 122…a helmet? long sleeve pants? I don’t get it.

Every track is different when it comes to enforcing the rules… You need a helmet under 13.99 AFAIK and you see that Cayuga doesn’t really enforce that.

Without spending a lot of time trying to figure out what exact rules the track he was at is trying to enforce there is no way of finding out but here is what he said:
It’s actually 11.50 on street tires. I know because I got thrown out after my first pass in my 605 car. Went 11.4 @ 122 and got thrown out for about 15 violations. No rollcage, no protective clothing, no 5 point harness, no driveshaft loop, and non-factory window tint. Didn’t even get a timeslip.
Here is the thread where he talks about it:
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/498293-Carbon-Fiber-Driveshaft-v-s-Stock-(-pix)?

lol what a lameass situation. He rips off an awesome pass and gets booted. Who tuned his car?

I thought the 11.49 or better cage rules were amended in 2010. Maybe I’m thinking of something else.
