It just doesn't work: Tesla

also because RWD is stupid with this much torque. Lots of RWD Tesla owners online whining about burning through rears at a prodigious rate.

80kw and only ‘270 hp’ means lots of limitation happening. Wonder what they could do if they completely went high grade electronics materials, high output motors. The car can’t weigh more than 4500 lbs…would be a mini rocket.

anyone who buys those bonds is crazy. I can’t imagine a smart institutional investor buying any. Unless they wrote the terms of the deal.

It’s the same exact dimensions as an A4, except like 1.5" taller so the air doesn’t separate from the roof and drag. It’s supposed to weigh only 3800 pounds with the big battery, single motor.

that’s incredibly light . The A4 is heavier no?

What’s the body made of? Aluminium? Wasn’t sure if they did that on the Model 3

Steel body. I think the new packaging for the batteries must be lighter. Isn’t it like 1/5 the number of cells, but each cell is larger?

don’t know but that’s impressively light for an electric car

I would buy it. Love the rear engine slope on the hood. Dimensions are perfect for me.

wait for an AWD, bigbattery one.

I imagine they’re going to be making a performance version but I can’t see it being worth the likely premium to the regular one.

The RWD big battery ones are pretty damn quick. Almost Model S 75D uncorked quick. 0-60 in 4.6 seconds or so

not quite as quick as my new (used) car. P90D.

I think an AWD unit would be neat. What makes a difference in the cars acceleration is it the battery or the electronic motor

Yeah, I would wait for AWD. Looks awful with the stock 18 in graphite. White, silver and deep blue are nice paint colors.

I don’t want an early build Elon car anyway.

Biggest disappointment ever was Elon’s announcement of the new roadster…200k?!! WTF is that shit??? The guy is so far removed from society…he will be lucky to sell 3k a year of these bastardized sports cars at that price.

It’s a confused car with an identity crisis ??? ??? ???

-Car looks like a nice luxory german coupe, yet priced like a supercar.

-Performance better than any hypercar in a straight line (how does it go around curves? likely not as good) but priced like a supercar.

TO me its a no brainer that there should be 3 variants:

  1. The base P85-90D starting at $89k. At this price point you still get incredible performance capturing all the RS5, C63s, M4s, M6, F-Type, 911, Z06, lexus LC etc market selling much larger volume with the current aesthetic upon launch

  2. Then you get into the supercar range P120-135D should suffice creating insane performance capturing the R8 NSX 911 Huracon etc BUT the aesthetic needs to reflect it!

  3. Finally the hypercar P200D stupid fast car for $499k with an aesthetic that fits the performance.

I’m in. Been test driving various Audis with Audi on Demand, for overnight or day trips. RS5 is not for me - rides too harsh, power too laggy, not really a sports car either. SQ5 is my favorite Audi car right now, but I won’t buy a car that doesn’t have a touch screen.

Good luck, have fun west! Still keeping the boxster and s4?

Maybe no more Boxster. We’ll see. S4 is in perfect shape, fully maintained and ready for more track days. I am short on time lately and only make it a couple of times a year.

I estimate the P3D will go 0-60 in under 3 seconds. I expect a low 10 second 1/4 mile. 10.3 if I had to hazard a guess. No idea on trap speed - 130?

The performance model is 10mm lower, has the high output rear motor, and the standard front motor. The performance package for $5k gets you bigger brakes (I think stock is 330mm 4 piston). I’m hoping it’s a 380mm but expecting slightly smaller. The wheels are 20” wrapped in Michelin 4S, 235 front and 275 rear.

My friends have been picking up their cars. I went with my buddy to get his in Fremont at the delivery center and it was a pretty lousy experience. The car had A LOT of paint flaws. I counted about 7 serious problems. It was leaking coolant because it was probably overfilled. The door panel inside had big scuffs on it like someone dragged it across the floor. Honestly, I will refuse delivery if that happens with my car. Despite this, it’s a supercar and my friend was happy to take delivery. The base model acceleration from a roll is better than the RS5 or any other car. It responds in like 10ms, where the turbo cars with transmissions have multi-second lag.

I reserved June 17 and placed a purchase order June 29. They said August-October, so Q3. I’m expecting it will take until October/November. I will refuse if they don’t get it to me by December 30, because I want the full tax credit and I want it in February. Interestingly, the performance model pays for itself. If you pony up the $11k upgrade, you basically cut the line and are nearly guaranteed the $7500. The resale alone would pay for it.

That is quite the expectation from an ugly AF tesla. How are you going to feel when your expectations are let down?

I guess I’ll just wait for a software update. The base model is testing at 0-60 in 4.7. The new 100D is testing at 3.4 seconds. I expect this car to crack 3.0 easily.

Let us know how it goes and what performance you actually see.

How does a model 3 doing donuts have anything to do with your hopeful 0-60 of sub 3.0 secs?

Audi is so done.
