It just doesn't work: Tesla

Out of mine as well! Lol. Although, it never hurts to take a test drive. :wink:

Since this particular thread of the discussion isn’t relevant to my car or situation, I’m done with it.

So why is the Tesla not holding value? Seems to sell for a good price…

Anyone else know since zcd1 toastered?

Your back! :smiley:

model 3 definitely holding its value very good after checking what the actual resale value are on various different sites. Really its simple supply / demand as the demand is still very high exceeding the supply since Tesla got so far behind. It wasn’t until late 2017 when consumers finally started receiving model 3s. The car is still new with no changes to the build that I know of.

I agree that all high end luxury sedans don’t hold their value well compared to all other cars, which is 1 reason the Model S is suffering. Other reasons are

  1. Early build quality over the first 3 years
  2. Many upgrades and improvements over the years to the Model S
  3. The Model S also had its price dropped a few times likely hurting its resale

Time will tell if those resale values hold, but I’d buy a 2016 Model S P90D in a sec. over a new P3D

I never left - I just got tired of going back and forth with you about the resale value of a car I don’t own, nor care to own.

Regarding Model S vs. M3P: As the saying goes, “That’s why they make 31 flavors!” I could have bought a P85D for about the same $$$ as my Model 3P. (I’m talking about cars from Tesla with Tesla warranties - I’d never buy any high-end car without a good manufacturer-backed warranty - YMMV)

The Model 3P is FAR more advanced in design, construction and technology than comparably-priced used Model Ss. It also handles much better, has more headroom and is way more fun to drive - IMO - so I bought the car that suited my wants/needs better. Again, YMMV.

Would you pick your car over a Model S P90D ludacris?

[quote=“bigserve134,post:707,topic:7706”]
I already did, so yes.

Tesla still struggling with their electronics, even on the model 3s

https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/21/tech/consumer-reports-tesla-model-3/index.html

I’ve collected over $17,000 of rebates on my Model 3 Performance. Most amazing car I’ve ever owned. Audi looks like they’re in big trouble with the e-Tron dud for $100k with markup, and 30% EV by 2030 or whatever crap they pulled at super bowl.

6000 miles on my Tesla and it’s basically flawless. Software keeps adding new features to the car. This really is the future. I don’t see how Audi or BMW can compete with their old waterfall approach to car building, and telling customers to just buy a new car if they want new features. My 2018 Tesla has all the features of a new 2019.

I’m surprised they dont give customers the option to update / upgrade for a price because you know all the German’s would be charging for those update/upgrades

Oh they absolutely will. They’re only selling 2 hardware SKU. The dual motor version is the same exact hardware as performance. They would upgrade you to 0-60 in 3.1 seconds for $7000. The car has your credit card on file. They can bill you.

So they are adding new features and auto billing you ???

[quote=“bigserve134,post:713,topic:7706”]
Nope - they’re adding features at no additional cost:

This isn’t actually entirely accurate.

The Model 3 “Performance” has larger, Brembo-sourced, Tesla-branded brake calipers and upgraded brake pads, plus a firmer, lowered suspension.

I’m up to $18,000 in rebates on the Model 3 Performance that I paid $71k for. Yes, Tesla has lowered the price a few times. They actually wrote me a $5500 check to make it right ($5000 plus sales tax).

Regarding the suspension, I think the only difference is the spring hat. Mine looks low compared to your average Tesla.

Regarding the brakes, it’s a Brembo 4 piston in front and a single piston slider in the rear. It’s been a PITA to get brake pads for it. It was rumored to be the same Brembo OEM pad as Aston Martin, Shelby, Viper. But I tried and they don’t quite fit. I ended up having a set of Pagid RS19 custom cut for $1000 total, for both axles. Even those had the pins drilled improperly so I had to have them sent out to be drilled oval. Why are the pins oval? Because Elon.

Regarding the hubs, Elon’s CAD drawing didn’t line up right and they stick out 3mm past the brake center. So you need special wheel centering rings. Again, I had them machined and I have the only Tesla Model 3 on the planet with BBS wheels – which is kind of cool.

18k? Federal tax credit $3750? or were you able to get $7500 before 2019 ? Was the P3D even available at that time?
Then you say the cut you a check for $5500 because they lowered the price? So theres 13k, wheres the other 5?

You probably turn off the engine braking 100% huh? I don’t think I could rock that feature either…

Tesla has its own specific wheel bolt pattern so that it is difficult to get a nice set of after market wheels?

[quote=“bigserve134,post:717,topic:7706”]
Regenerative braking can’t be turned off completely, but its behavior is altered somewhat in “Track Mode”. Regen braking is easy to adjust to with some experience and one-pedal driving is fantastic!

Tesla’s wheel bolt pattern is shared with many other vehicles, so there’s a wide range of wheels available for them.

I got like $2500 in referral bonus prizes which I sold off. $7500 on income tax. $2500 from California. $800 from PG&E despite the soft bankruptcy. $5425 performance rebate. It’s a lot of cash!

The regen takes 1 day of getting used to. I drove with it off for a day. Then turned it on and never went back. You basically get into one pedal driving. You just leave your foot in the middle of the throttle, and it maintains speed. If you lift it brakes. You only use the brake pedal for a panic stop.

I installed Autopilot basic yesterday for $2000 over the air. It will keep the car in a lane, and do brake/throttle up to 90 MPH. I don’t think it’s worth $5k but definitely worth $2k.

Cool.

I felt the same way about Enhanced Autopilot and purchased the same upgrade for my car today as well. 8)
