J-Spec Automotive has my car...

I read ya loud and clear. The last part is running a tube from back to front and I imagine even that is more difficult than it should be. In any event, I think we’re really, finally at the final stages here.

Question: why is every single post from Chris K like trying to decipher some code? Fat fingers, typing with gloves on, old phone, just curious…

Keep your chin up Zero, baby steps buddy!

Insect steps…

He has an iPhone. Enough said.

Bull shit he has an Iphone you evil Iphone hating bastid. He must have some sort of a t9 set up or a phone without a qwerty keyboard. There is no fucking way he accidentally switches into the numeric keyboard that often. He is multi tapp’n that phone for sure. Iphone… you samsung-humping freak. ;D

Jnaut saw my ECU for the first time and it’s got GIAC written on it. So whatever GIAC tune boosts up to about 18 pounds is what was on my car when I bought it. I think it might have said something about EPL as well. I have to check.

Interesting…can’t wait to see this full bore when ready.

Everything is installed. ECU logging begins tomorrow.

Great stuff! Don’t you dare fucking sell it. I will come to FL and kick you in the nuts myself if you do.

Don’t scare my nuts like that. I’ll probably keep it. I have to weigh the fun factor and trouble factor. If it breaks so much that I can’t enjoy it for at least a few weeks at a time, it’s not worth it. Then again, I think the only time it’s really going to be abused is at rare track appearances to see what gains modifications make.

You’ll be fine. I have learned the road course events present the most stress and it obvious when you think about it. 20-30 minutes of boost/extreme heat, in and out of the throttle, etc etc. I plan to limit the number of events this year so I can enjoy the car more by keeping it out of the shop and to make more appearances at the fastest drag strip in the world, PBIR.

Does PBIR really have that reputation?

So considering I’m going to have at least close to a 600 horsepower car, and considering my specific build (new parts, etcetera) - what’s most likely to fail? Maybe I should start stocking up on parts to prepare for the inevitable. This way I can hit the ground running when issues pop up.

I’ve forgot all of your build details, but if you haven’t already, you’ll want to snag 034’s billet diff crossbar if you’re going to hit the strip. If you’re driving the car to the strip rather than trailering it, it might be wise to snag a cheap set of the Chinese axle half-shafts (like $75 per at your local auto parts store, and you can keep your receipt and just return them after the track visit if there’s no issues) and review what it takes to replace those the night before you head out (there’s some good DIY posts with the little tips/tricks that should be easily findable on the forums). I can (and have in the track parking lot after a track emergency) replace the axle half shafts in like 30 or so mins per side, so it’s not too tough if you know the little tips and tricks, and having those spares on hand can possibly save you an expensive tow if you live far from the track.

Other than that, should be good to give 'r hell, as there’s not a whole lot of ‘preventative’ preparation you can do for the track (because the big things you just replace if/when they go [tranny, clutch, rear diff]). Looking forward to it.

It’s Saki’s code for PBIR. I have no idea. He’s certainly done more 1/4 mile research and data analysis then I ever will so I’m only quoting him.

It may be a fast track but weather conditions overall are not favorable with the exception of our occasional cold front. This time of year we could have a real nice day but can only hope it falls on a Wed or Friday combined with no rain.

Zero, In my experience both boost and vacuum lines and their connections have been the biggest culprit. This might not be such an issue but it was for me.

Someone else will have to chime for the exact name or term but I also had issues with my PCV valve and stuff associated with it. Then I switched to a catch can set up and this contraption has been the solution. It has something to so with blow-by (oil) and now I’m in over my head b/c I shouldn’t be trying to explain this!

Boost and vacuum lines, just make sure you’re good there.

Doesn’t seem to matter (weather). PBIR cars set all sorts of records

i.e. in our little world

fastest ever stock B8 S4 - PBIR 12.69 @ 108 (SQUATTRO4)
fastest ever NA RS4 - PBIR 12.2 @ 112 (jnaut without even being tuned)
fastest ever pump gas MPH B8 S4 - PBIR 12.28 @ 115.71 (fonzie, and this is also by far the fastest stage 1 APR car ever)

Not to mention boatloads of other records set there, including the recent first ever 10 second stock GTR, fastest blower only CTS-v fastest stock frame turbo EVO, etc.

So I need one of these:

Axle Half Shafts… I don’t mind buying “good ones”. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I won’t be launching the car anytime soon. Jnaut will. So he’ll be there if they break. I WOULD like to have them on hand, though.

Boost lines, vacuum lines and their connections. I guess I’ll just write to JHM and see if they have this stuff for sale.

PCV Valve, etcetera… Get an oil catch can and be done with it. Okay.

I’m sure many of you won’t realize how hilarious it is that jibberjoke is giving dragstrip tips, but I found it quite humorous! Jibberjive said he hated this forum and would never come back, but the irony is that he came back to give dragstrip advice, which the dragstrip is the main reason why he was ridiculed here and decided to leave…hahahaha

Poor jibberjive. Run out of here by dodging faws fifteen second monster.

Well, I can’t laugh at anybody because I can learn something from everybody, so…
