Get me your ECU part number and then you really need to send in your ECU for an update. I’ll help you with getting into the current version. Your current tune is very old and a very lame tune.
EDIT: I just realized that I had misquoted the time before. Before I had said that it was a 13.082 instead of 13.084 - whoops. Two thousandths of a second isn’t that big of a deal but I just thought that I should point it out.
looks like your losing in the higher rpms… i got an 8.9 with just tune and exhaust (and that is with bad valve guides/seals on cyl #5), i would imagine 8.4 is really good 1/8th, but maybe a little off for SC and your mods. I am wondering if your tune is what is holding you back…
How do you know your guides were bad? or are you just lumping guides and seals together? If it was your seals…that would truly have little affect on your performance…maybe some spark issues in that cylinder.
The tune is definitely holding him back…the man who wrote the tune has already established that.
I had a 8.26 at the 1/8 on my 12.86 run…so he should be way faster than that in good DA. To be quite honest he should be shooting for sub-8 with his mod list…even a 7.8…I’ll set the bar high for Jimmy, don’t make it easy on him.
Nope. His times are fine first half to second half. In fact he Picks up a lot of MPH in the second half vs his first half. About 4-5 more than a b6/7 car trapping 83 should.
His 1/8 time and MPH are exactly where they should be relative to his 1/4 et and MPH.
His tune is holding him back two ways
it is an intro/safe tune that the tuner himself just said needs to be updated
The tune will pull the car back if it’s hot and hideous out.
No. I am mostly done modding/tweaking with the S4 for right now other than looking around for a right front fender and hood. Damn hateful tree limbs dented in the fender and hood while the car sat. Carbon fiber hoods seem to be cheaper than the factory replacement hoods but I really don’t like most of the options out there.
Can’t wait for colder air in October and November!
I got my car back from STE last week with their Performance Parameters Display unit. It is a very clean gauge system that shows a lot of readings from the can bus system and information sent straight to the instrument cluster. Earlier this year Axel started a thread for the B7 kit but STE had not gotten a B6 to play with until mine. There are a few different things from the B7s to the B6s like the pin assignments of the connectors.
Since I am JHM supercharged I hooked up a vacuum line to the unit so that I can see boost pressure when I get on it. During one of the timed runs that we did from 60 mph to 90 mph I saw 6.2 PSI at 6.9K rpms with the boost recall feature. Here is a picture with the engine sitting at idle:

The unit in my car shows boost pressure/vacuum, air fuel ratio, oil temperature, coolant temperature, intake air temperature, battery voltage, timed runs (0-60, 60-90, and 60-130 I think), vehicle speed, injector duty cycle, mass air flow reading (grams per second), and load.
The intake air temperature will be very helpful for when I go to the drag strip and am sitting in the staging lanes. It is cool to watch the intake air temperature reading change from driving down the highway to sitting in traffic and back. It gets down to ambient air temperature after a minute or two of driving but damn that thing can sky rocket when I am sitting in traffic for even short periods of time because these V8s run hot! Also the speedometer is a bit optimistic. I have different tires than stock but I have noticed it is 3-4 mph off up to about 40 mph and then from 5-6 mph off when above 40 mph.
As for your tune, yeah, I had the old tune as well when I first got the sc. It was a “test” tune so to speak. Then last November, I met up with JHM and Jay swapped me to flash and got their final tune. World of a difference.
