I got a used rear diff, swapped the Wavetrac LSD over with new bearings, and got everything bolted into place. Instead of the normal rear diff fluid I got some Redline heavy duty shockproof gear oil. It was cheaper than the normal GL-5 75w-90 and hopefully it does what they say it will. By the way, that stuff looks like nasty old Pepto.
I called JHM and Jake rushed me a R-series pressure plate, a 5R disc, new flywheel iron liner, and I got a HD cross rod because the trans was out already. Figure I have broken almost everything else so why not be proactive and save some frustration. This morning I got the new clutch in and a chance to drive the car a little before the Ravens at Bears football game started. The first thing I noticed is it feels like there is a return spring on the clutch pedal from the pressure plate pushing the throw-out bearing back. It is much easier to drive the car slowly around at parking lot speeds and in reverse because the clutch is more responsive than the previous stage four clutch kit with the RS4 pressure plate. I haven’t noticed any clutch chatter yet but there is 500 more city miles to go before next Sunday so I will have more time to see if I notice any noise.

Still my favourite build thread ever. Interesting thoughts on the 5r. I thought the 4 was pretty stockish in feel but I didn’t have nearly the power and tq you do

This morning I finished the last of the break in mileage. I am so GLAD that is over because it was torture! The car is all prepped and ready to go to the strip on Sunday. It looks like a few other people here are going to different tracks for the last day of the season too, which is cool.
Saki, just because I like the R-series pressure plate and 5R disc doesn’t mean some of the weenies on Audizoo would be willing to put up with it. It is a little harsh and having coordinated feet is very helpful. To get a smooth start from a stop with no noise in first gear, it is almost easier to drop the clutch and give it gas. The ceramic disc doesn’t like to be slipped so if I am trying to just creep forward then I get a ERRRUET noise like squeaking windshield wipers. By the way, I drove my C5 A6 today to get ready for work and it was amazing how numb that car feels to the S4. At first I thought the clutch was broken because my foot was beating the pedal so badly.
Euro, it is looking like a cold day with a high of 34-37. Which should be awesome. The freaking weather guessers can’t make up their minds.
