JBones's Silver Bullet B6 S4

how’d the other runs go?

So… The car is making good power then.

Ok. I found what I think to be about the right amount of tire spin off the launch. After watching the gopro video the feedback through the car makes more sense. Wasn’t going to run record times after sitting in traffic on and off for 3.5 hours.

It would be better if everything was cooled off more but I will have that installed soon enough.

Saki, What do you think of this pass? It looks like I got just enough spin off the line and chirped second gear.

Nice second gear scratch but you can tell on the launch your 60 foot was probably still sub 2 but not in the 1.8 range where you want to be. But again you have broken a ton of axles so I cant blame you for taking it a bit easy

That launch looks pretty similar to some of my better runs in my B7. Depending on track conditions I had the best results using soft compound winter tires and dumping the clutch on the upswing between 3000-3400. This would get me some minor wheelspin off the line and prevent the car from bogging down when the car fully hooked. If the conditions were right LC, would work well and be in the 1.8x range but with a correct upswing launch I got it down in the high 1.7x a few times. Our cars aren’t apples to apples but maybe this will help.

It was high 1.9x but that was just trying to get the launch right for tire spin and then getting my shifting closer to right. There was nothing fast about that pass but I just wanted Saki’s brutally honest opinion. I have footage of the car bogging/nosing over and then the other extreme of blowing the tires off with me having to correct the steering so the car goes straight. That seemed like a happy medium but I might be able to get away with a little more tire spin. I figure that if I can get the launch right and then get my shifts right then everything else should fall into place.

She breathes, good to see and hear some real footage. Love to see it in person if time permits

1.97 60ft, lol good spot for the camera so one can see the time board ;D

How’d the rest of the run turn out?

Yes she does. I am really loving the new exhaust! You are welcome to come up on Wednesday of next week and check it out.

Didnt even think about that.

It went ok for the conditions (me driving and getting comfortable with it again, weather, etc).

Try slipping the clutch a little more? Dumping and bogging/chirping and bogging/spinning is not going to get you to the 60’ fastest. The best launches I ever had were quick slips from around 4500rpm and produced many low 1.8 60’s (N/A car, same concept though). All your launches are so aggressive it almost looks like you’re just side stepping the clutch.

EXACTLY. I went to the track with Rider and his JHM stage 1 S4 the past weekend. He quick slipped the clutch and brought his time down from 12.6 to 12.3@117

I’m able to get 1.8 60 with my automatic and Im leaving at about 2200rpms so its all about not shocking the tires too much.

When is the next track day (unless that’s already Wednesday too) if I’m around I’ll meet you there and help you tape video and any other help you need
