I can get away with a new pinion/ring gear set and welding the case back together but I wanted to wait for JHM to see if they can find a spare case with the front diff.
Update: It runs, has fresh tags (not in this picture), and I am going to sort out the alignment tonight. I need to put on the trunk lid that I got for it either later today or tomorrow.
Well that is fixed now. The ride height is set at 25 1/8 inches from ground to fender and the alignment is really close to -1 degrees camber and 0 minutes toe. I need to play with the steering wheel a little bit since it is off but that is a minor adjustment. The JHM shifter is a little off too but the transmission has been out a few times. Right now I can’t get into fifth gear but in a few minutes I am going to play with it some more.
I already spoke with euroswager about this but I thought that I should bring it up here. Friday night is the test and tune night at Capitol Raceway in Crofton MD so I am going if it doesn’t rain. We shall see how deep I can get into the twelves since the heat is on. It will probably not be a record setting night but I want to get comfortable with the S4 before it cools off in September and October. Plus it is always fun to go over 100 mph legally!
Anybody local to me or there is welcome to come. We should have a few other cool cars going too.
yeah 100 degrees at the dragstrip = tough pill to swallow for a non intercooled car powered by a V8 crammed into an engine bay designed for a 1.8 turbodiesel.
If we compare to other supercharged cars who went in utterly dogshit conditions, you’re probably looking at 12.9 @ 108 or something.
There’s a massive heatwave on in the northeast till Friday.
Well guys I am going to have to postpone the track visit to next Friday because I figured out that the fifth gear issue is more than the shifter out of alignment. It should be cooler next week too. They are calling for 85 degrees instead of 95/96 degrees.
Lets hope. By the way, I can now get the transmission totally out of the car with the headers in the way in a hour and a half and then disassembled in ten minutes. Way too much practice!
