Yeah the Trans is out and taken apart. I am waiting on parts that should be here Monday.
Everything is moving right along for some 1/4 mile passes this Friday night. The weather channel is calling for a high of 83 degrees so it should be just under 80 degrees around 8 PM. Which is a lot better than the 94+ degrees late week!
Good news! I can’t wait to see what you run!
Great stuff JBones. Glad to hear she is up and running!!
Can’t wait to see this. Make sure you got a good cameraman! And with those temps… Intercooler time already?
80s are still hot so take time amd cool fhe car down…also its great people use pump gas bla bla bla…if ur at thr track put better gas in tbe car unless ur going for a pump gas record…im not saying put in C16…just remember if ur going to beat on thd car use better fuel to help keep the car safe…
Good luck run a good number…how many miles do you have under ur belt with the car…I just remembered you added headers and a supercharger thats a big jump…
I got the car together today and went to the 1/4 mile late tonight. Ended up going solo since everybody was busy. They were busy so I rushed through tech inspection and hopped in the staging lanes without icing down the intake manifold or blower. After about twenty minutes of sitting in the hot staging lanes I got a pass in.
1.763 60’
5.488 330
8.538 1/8 @ 83.09 mph
11.125 1000
13.295 1/4 @ 106.02 mph
The tires were spinning bad out of the hole. There is so much more torque than what it was before.
Then I spent fifty minutes waiting next to the staging lanes or in the staging lanes because a newbie driver smashed into a Ford Exploder. It was his first time at the track and he said that the throttle stuck open. To make matters worse there was a full family in the Exploder. It is never good when the cops, ambulances, and a fire truck come out.
Once all of that nightmare was sorted out I went to make a second pass before they shut it down for the night. Too bad I forgot to turn off ESP. I ran this:
1.850 60’
13.493 1/4 @ 106.59
Later in the morning I can get more info, pictures, and time slips loaded up but this should hold you over.
Nice work on getting out. Was there a family in the explorer actually racing down the 1320?
Despite the suboptimal conditions, at least you got a feel for the car
^^ This. Always great to see AR guys getting out to the track. Your 60’ on the first pass is pretty good actually. Definitely not ideal conditions though.
It’s funny, that 60 foot time is one of the best 60 foot times for any b7 ever. S4, rs4 included. Maybe the best.
Then the tune steps in at big rpms and pulls timing and closes the throttle because the conditions are shit. It seems like the safety measures on the Supercharged tunes is a little too safe if that make any sense. Axel struggles with this.
Count vohn can address it but the 60 foot shows that your car is leaping. Spinning tires and going 1.73 is nuts.
Will an intercooler be a big game changer in these conditions?
Yes it will .
Sorry I couldn’t make it again Jimmy. Like I told you through text, 60’ looked great and it is one of the best out there…I think there is a 1.75, another 1.76 and I had a 1.78, but was definitely not blowing my tires off like you probably were. Like Saki mentioned it must be crazy how much the tune pulls back when the conditions are shit, but in the grand scheme of things that should make people concerned about safety feel great.
I know conditions were shit, but I would have ran just to see how bad my car was being affected since I have a pretty good idea where it should be running.
Just wait until fall…set some records
The explorer was not racing down the 1320. They were trying find a parking place to watch the cars race. The truck hit the explorer right next to the 9-10-11 staging lanes.
Yeah I wanted to get comfortable with the car again since it was such a total transformation. After going to the track Friday night I decided to go to the other local track today for more practice. There is more about that adventure farther down this post.
Not a big deal Euro. I hope you had a safe drive back down to NC Saturday.
There are seven B6/B7 S4 and B7 RS4 60’ times at or quicker than the 1.763. One of those 60’ times is cabracco85 at 1.64 and there are only three Audi 60’ times faster than 1.65 across the whole list. My goal once it gets cooler is to have not only the fastest B6/7 S4 1/4 mile time but the quickest Audi 60’ time too.
Saki, may have a point about the safety measures and I am perfectly happy with them because I can break enough stuff on my own without help.
Here are the slips from my two runs on Friday night. I was car #3482.

Then today I went to MIR to get some more practice with the car after tweeking a few things like rewiring my front oxygen sensors. Plus they have a scale. The scale showed my S4 weighted 4,125 with me in it. By the way does anybody like my plates?

After doing everything right like icing down the intake manifold, pulling the passenger side headlight so I could ice down the blower, setting up my vagcom to log MVBs (3, 20, and 21) and waiting a half hour it is time to make some passes. I get up to the line and hold the revs at 3,500 rpms until the light turns green. The car takes off hard like a bat out of hell with no tire spin and then I hear a loud rrraaa-RING! The car stops accelerating and I pull over to the side by the wall. Yay, I just remembered how much it sucked to push my car the last time this happened. We got the car towed all the way home to find that the left front inner CV joint broke.

I have broken both front inner CV joints at this point. Didn’t JHM break the left front inner CV joint too in one of their videos? These joints seem to be a weak link.
Fuck
Did you get a 60’ lol
Nope. I think that I probably only went twenty feet.
I replaced the broken axle today and it looked like this inside:
It’s impressive how quickly you knock these repairs out.
helps when you have a lift in your back yard…and more snap on tools than the snap on truck…haha
Should it be Step 1…buy JHM supercharger, Step 2…buy lift or vice versa?
A new cv boot and tube of grease and you’ll be good to go lol.
