With those monster tires, I think it was 42# each, sans tire I think they are ~16#. They’re Dan’s old wheels, bought them from him as they wouldn’t fit his RS4.
Most likely not. That’s why I’ve said before that Primetime is the single most valuable contributor to the B8 platform. He really piqued everyone’s interest with his continuous dragstrip threads back in the Audiworld days. He also helped clear up the initial issue that APR had with their stage 2 setup (for DSG cars). In short, the B8 platform would not be what it is today without Ron.
You also did a good job of pointing our platform in the right direction. And I’m sure there were others from the B6/7 crowd as well.
the funny thing is the dyno was really just the tool of a tuner…until the Supra came along.
Once the Supra and big 2Jz power builds (I think that’s right) came along, the guys couldn’t do jack shit at the strip for the most part…the cars were breaking…they had no traction…so they all started to throw them on the dyno. The dyno became the new racetrack. Incidentally that market was marred by more scam artists and scoundrels than any other over the psat 10 years.
Anyway, people from other platforms all started using the dyno more extensively to sell products over time, and now it’s a cluster fuck. It really is.
You go to the domestic forums, and sure they post dynos, but nobody really cares…they want you to back it up with a 1/4 mile pass.
The other joke is the 60-130. At least that involves driving your actual car…but unfortunately using a cheap performance tool like a pbox has its flaws…and at the end of the day, most people go 0-60 10 times a day, not 60-130. The 60-130 eliminates the part of acceleration that actually matters to most people.
Good to see all the new generation of big power cars going to the strip. GTR, TT GALLARDO, AMG, they all live at the dragstrip for comparing performance gains. The dyno queens are still out there, but they’re slowly being choked to death by actual performance testing.

OH yeah definitely the Supras. You go on Youtube and it is 1k+ HP Supras left and right and they are always doing highway pulls.
I came from the domestic world with my 73 Camaro and when I first came into the Audi world I was really confused on why so many people refused to go the strip. I always chocked it up to fearing that the car would not perform the way they thought it would.
The 2.0T 1/4 mile thread is depressing. There isn’t even a time in the 12s!
If my car doesn’t run 12s with a turbo upgrade I will dump it into the Delta and report it stolen. Or key up the paint and claim in on insurance and do a widebody conversion
