“driveability” lol. ask him to define that.
Yea, I copy/pasted. I’m pretty much on my own there though. Most people are happy to stare at dyno sheets and people saying “its faster bruh”
Unfortunately that how it is. Its hard to come in and convince a community that what they have believed for so long is actually wrong or not as good as they think it is.
Hey guys, driving with the eBrake on is actually better for performance because it increases the amount of load at any given time!
What seems to work REALLY well is to show a XXX car destroying a YYY car in a pull. Then people start to say ‘wow…XXX is awesome’
Case in point the JHM 2.0T stuff
The JHM 2.0T quarter mile records? Nobody blinked because they don’t have anything to compare to. Once you show them the highway pulls where Dru’s car beat the APR stage 2 car, it made headlines
Once you do that you say ‘this is why we need something other than a dyno to measure performance’ and it works from there.
The B6/7 stuff was the same. It wasn’t 1/4 mile times that revolutionized the market. It was videos of JHM tuned/exhaust cars beating the shit out of stage 2 B5 S4s and other APR/GIAC etc tuned B6/7 S4s. That’s when people woke up. They had been told for years that the B6 couldn’t touch a stage 1 or 2 B5 S4. Maybe a B6 with GIac and milltek…but the JHM cars whooped on the stage 1 and 2 B5 S4s. Then the 1/4 mile stuff followed and became the way to measure everything now that JHM had their attention.

It’s funny…this was only 5 years ago. It shocked the shit out of the forums. JHM didn’t even have their own B6 S4 yet in California…just their development car in Detroit (CV) and then these cars (blue and red) were the first beta customers. Justincredible was the other.
Pulls to get their attention that the stuff they thought was good might not actually be that good at all; demand 1/4 mile results from shops to measure performance going forward
It was a shame I never got to run any other tuned S4s.
It was hilarious. I had a couple of GIAC tuned guys locally who were talking mad shit (for fun…but they really thought they were faster). They didn’t know what JHM was. When I had my piggies+JHM tune+FI catback, I raced and obliterated the one guy who had catless downpipes, AWE exhaust, GIAC tune, and a couple of other lightweight parts. It was not remotely close…as in 3+ cars in 2 gears and then I shut it down. The other guy backed out after he saw that. He just had a GIAC tune and Stasis catback. I had another guy with Unitronic telling me to switch over. So we did a pull. then he switched to JHM. I had only one APR guy. Same deal. Never met a REVO B67. Almost everyone had GIAC it seemed. Not sure why.
LOL that kind of stuff hurts an ego.
This was the next step in the V8 revolution…that REALLY got people excited.
Because it was something nobody else was doing. The other tuners weren’t buying and tearing apart the B6 to see what was up and develope 30-40 parts for it. They didn’t even OWN a fucking B6. Keith@APR was maybe the exception as he had a B6 S4 with APR tune, intake (makes you slower) and exhaust, but all he did was badmouth the B6 because it wasn’t good enough. I wonder how he would have felt if he had a 12.7@111 B6 instead of a 13.50@104 B6.
Interesting read. You should make a history of the b6 S4 and how it changed the community thread. That would be very interesting.

I got into Audi’s right around the time that thread was created, was cool to watch it all unfold. Funniest part was I was against it initially, I sided with the people who said the s4 was a lame duck. I was also messaging back and forth with PES about buying a kit. It was a dark time in my life.
:o Damn - AZ needs a war room. From that thread:
[QUOTE=AvanTTix;3914442]So after deleting just a few bickering posts and considering the flow of this thread, I realised that most of the discussion that was going on over the last 3 pages or so wasn’t even related to the topic at hand: JHM’s 2005 S4 6-speed build thread. So I decided to delete pretty much the last 3 pages and give this thread back to JHM.

I raced an APR tuned, APR fullback S4 back in 2008 with my catless milltek fullback(the 2.25" rendition) and a very old JHM tune. My car pulled well and the other guy was convinced and changed tunes eventually.
Best response from Arin. Hahahaha
LOL that was a pretty solid response.
Weird that keir would lash out like that, seemed like a very laid back guy when I met him.
Had a good chuckle at Jake’s reply to Potatoes’ slip picture.
;D
Google Image Search is a wonderful tool… ;D
Fucking idiots. Are those turds (Daytona and fuckheadtomatoes) actually trying to stick up for PES?
I’m sure this is a genuine recommendation, and not biased at all…
lol I see that kind of stuff all the time and it always makes me chuckle.
