That was a painful read.
Wow that thread is amazing. I posted though
fourplay doesn’t get it.
That’s because everyone who has a fast B5 runs meth in addition to pump gas. The fastest TTS Supercharged B7 only makes 600-615 chp, which isn’t even 500whp with our drivetrain losses. Almost every single built motor B5 makes more whp than that. I’m sure you could take a 770, GT2XXX or even a 605 car on a pump gas tune and beat 11.4, but 99% of people with big HP cars either run meth or don’t even do 1/4 miles (looking at you EPL/AMD).
So the B5 is better on the dyno? Great. Who cares. Back to real performance testing.
The point is the RS4 is running 11.4 @ 125 on pump gas and a pump gas file…as in there is plenty more left on the table. With a race file it will do even better. With a bigger blower it will do even better…all of this on the stock motor.
Saying ‘most of them (big HP B5 S4s) don’t hit the 1/4 mile’ is irrelevant. So he’s saying most big power builds don’t go, therefore we have to pretend they’re faster? lol. Further, of the 15 or so TTS RS4s, only 1 (ONE) of them has hit the strip…the one that went 11.4. His point is more in favour of the TTS cars to be honest. There are far more EPL/bigHP B5 results out there where they’ve had a shot at a great 1/4 mile time.
In 10 years of B5 S4 1/4 mile times at certified dragstrips, here are all the B5 S4s who ran better than the 1 TTS RS4 ran in its trip to the strip. Two of the times are the same car with two different setups (JHM’s car).
Lol they responded just how I thought they would. Calling me but hurt and being selective readers
lol, I thought Joe’s post was pretty reasonable. Just a bunch of bias, I’d bet everyone who said no to the RS4 has never been in one.
^^WTF!?! There’s only two B5S4 in the 10’s? I thought there was more. The more impressive thing is that one of them is a K04 car. Are those some sort of upgraded K04s to handle the boost?
I find it funny how jaded some guys are on what is “fast” or not. Calling a 12 second stock vehicle slow is just plain ignorant.
what…like the part where called them all retarded, ignorant 16 year olds? lol
There’s the polish guy everyone talks about, but he was at a runway, not a certified track
There’s the guruman guy, but he’s an A4 with a swapped in 2.7T engine
There may be one or two others, but they’re hiding! I think a EuroTuner magazine shootout had one in the 10s, but I can’t find the timeslip…just spotty info.
However you do raise a great point…they’re just not as dominant as the B5 guys would have you believe. Typical stage 3 B5 S4 guys are K04 turbos and 12.3 @ 113 quarter mile times. Having just dug through the forums for times over the past couple of months, it became clear…lots more talk and dyno sheets than actual times. Either that or they’re all not telling everyone their times.
That ‘any EPL 1/4 mile results please post’ thread tweets started on AZ, the biggest B5 forum by far, is a great example. 120+ posts and only 1 new EPL timeslip added to the database…an 11.9 @ 120.
there are a lot of us that go and enjoy the drag strip but dont go trying to swing e-dick constantly, the biggest talkers of drag times in the crowd are really not rocking very fast cars or they are and they cant even begin to know how to run a 10 or faster. fwiw in 2006 myself and numerous others were running consistent low-mid 11 second passes on stock engines, small turbos and so on. it was heavily covered then, lots of in fighting and so on, just like now. Marc and myself and IIRC even Jay at the time all agreed that we were not going to get much faster as we could only row so fast and our gearing is a little whack. Jay and i both chased more power and marc gutted to the extreme. Marc got 10s and lost interest, i got 10s and broke the crap out of the car and my bank account in the process. I think Jay got 10s back then but maybe just low low 11s, regardless he went back to the drawing board and changed stuff up for more power. I just wanted consistent 10s and not ragged edge nitrous 10s. we all moved on to built engines and thats actually when fast b5s really dropped off because everyone was chasing their tails with 3L this 2.9L that nonsense and having issues. with the built engines we all got greedy and wanted turbo kits that could support 40 psi…
fast forward to now and people are still fighting over the same E.Ts and slower MPH for the most part. i laugh to myself because the biggest difference from now to then is that back then we all were making/claiming/dynoing 425-450 whp and going faster then the cookie cutter “600whp” cars that are the talk of the forums these days.
b5 kids have no fucking clue, i should really move on but i just love mine too much and its kinda fast so it works for me even though the user base is really starting to get dumbed down. the unibody is starting to come apart after the years of abuse. in reality it has another 2 summers on it tops and its b7 rs4 or ??? time.
^single turbo B7 RS4 would be cool, if the stock injectors arent up to snuff maybe add some port injectors and sell it as a carbon buildup solution lol
i have tried to make it happen, the turbo that is.
I have all sorts of ideas for what could power a rs4 of mine, even the 4.2 I take care of a few, one locally in particular is nicely modded and I have always loved it. Was actually the very first b7 rs4 i saw in person, one of the first in cali and when I encountered it on the freeway that night the guy instigated runs, i walked him hard and he followed me off the freeway, gave me a card and has been a customer/friend going on 5 years.
I will own a sprint blue rs4 one of these days, maybe that one if he ever sells it. He just rolled over to 50k miles.
Don’t get me wrong. 12s are fast and 11s are flying I just thought there were more 10s out there. I’d like to own a B5S4 Avant someday. I love Audis period. I just get a kick out of guys, some being RL friends of mine, having nice K04 set ups and talking about going 2.9l and Tials like Snow Trooper mentioned. I just don’t get it because they don’t appear to deliver on-the-road results.
BTW A buddy of mine recently purchased the infamous “Lambo Killer” Casa B5S4 and I can say that thing does fly. I’m going to try to get him to bring it to the track this fall. It sucks trying to get to one around here though. Since its about a 2 hour drive.
The stuff snowtrooper is talking about (dynoing 450 who and running 11.45 on K04 turbos) while everyone now dynos 500 to 600 to 700 and runs dare I say slower/worse is what everyone who asks the hard questions of these epl cars is wondering. Why?
My buddy dave just went to the track yesterday and put down 11.7 @118 after letting up cause the car felt funny up top. (boost leak/misfire)
That’s with his newly finished FT setup… I think he made 430+whp or something like that on his dyno.
I’m guessing he wasn’t tuned by epl
No he tuned it himself… I gave him a little help with the base file to start but that only made like 390whp.
have him post up all the info of the run and we’ll add it if he/you want. Or we can wait till he’s happy with how it’s running.
Also known as never.
p.s. kinda shocking how many of your customers hit the dragstrip. I thought the rule was that there aren’t many timeslips because B5 owners don’t go to the dragstrip. (even though there were 3 them there last time I went)
this is comedy gold at it’s finest
So…
3.0 V6 + small supercharger making 350 hp stock/400 hp tuned/475 hp maxed the fuck out
vs.
5.0 twin turbo V10 widebody super-avant classic making 570hp stock (let’s not even talk about tuned)
Obvious choice right? Not in B8 land lol.
lol DSG couldn’t handle the epic mountain of stock torque, so they had to use a tip on the RS6
Is this guy for real? What is the advantage of DSG over a tip…when there’s a 200 hp advantage to the tip car? and it’s an even bigger advantage when you modify the cars? So he wants to shift in 100 milliseconds as opposed to 300 milliseconds? He wants to ‘stay in boost’ better? Hmm…let’s me think about that for a nano second. Nah, turns out I don’t agree.
listen to those lions roar!

Nice video. Those things sound damn good…and fly
wow… great find!
What a bunch of muppets.
While i do agree the interior is quite a turn off in the GT500 vs the S4. And not ALL of it, i just dont like the big circle vents, retro looking dash and the 8ball shift knob.
Can you get leather in those? Dont think i ever saw leather seats in a GT500.
