Yeah, makes sense…at the b5’ers making excuses because thats what they do.
“My Stage 3 b5 makes 700whp on 40 psi, but I am only doing 12.5 because I have a boost leak, and the tune needs refinement, and it was hot, and I had just gotten a manicure and didn’t want to ruin my nails”
and then the B8 guys being like
“Please tell me more about how you b5 guys are geniuses and we should all listen to your advice about how to go slow with super high hp cars.”
[QUOTE=LOWLIFE_S4;9890193]I have the feeling those aren’t going to be cheap or even close to the cost of the original 4.2l is with low miles. I would laugh if those aren’t making the “400hp” stated. I’m sure it’s 400 crank which would still put the real numbers down in the very low 300’s. They are still using the original fuel system which is pretty restrictive. Let me know if one of you buys one and has it dyno’d or better yet take it to the track and get some 1/4mile slips or video.

Spyker was going to sell a bunch of assets to pay tax debt. Part of those assets were a lot of 85 Audi 4.2 v8’s. The engines looked the same as the 4.2 BHF. Although, Spyker rates them at 400hp. Some were wondering/speculating if they are the same 4.2 v8 found in the b67, if so, would it drop into a b67, and how are they rated at 400hp (Spyker) vs 340 (Audi), etc.
They do seem to be extremely similar, but can’t find anything to confirm they are the same.
also don’t forget the Audi 340hp output assumes lots of things
shitty Audi manifolds
shitty Audi downpipes with 4 catalytic converters
shitty Audi 2" catback with crimps and noise managing mufflers and resonators
shitty 91 octane fuel (lowest denominator)
restrictive Audi tune
if you took the engine and dyno’d it with a set of 2.5" downpipes with no cats and a good Fast Intentions 2.5" catback while running it on 93 octane and a good tune I’m comfortable you’d push around 30-40 whp more than stock…which is around 40-50 hp crank more than stock…which gets you pretty close to rounding to 400!
