lulz on other forums (current, not classics)

I saw FTG Motorsports long tube headers??? I thought, I must know more about these!

Went to the googles and find they are just re-selling XtraShit-Powerturd headers from the looks of it. Also looks like they sell a bunch of other chinese crap.

16 hour engine pull/drop to install POS untested headers. No thanks. It’s was never the cost of the headers themselves that put me off… it was the Labour involved

Wherein I commit the thought crime of asking why I can’t purchase a GT4 online, and face the wrath of people who have bought 20 Porsche’s in their lifetime and don’t think I deserve one:

LOL… Nice of you to post a lol thread where everyone is lauging at you, like usual I suppose… Don’t quite grasp capitalism or simple economics now do we westwest…

It served to document and index in Google the way the Porsche system works. Those guys spelled it out for me and everyone else who wants to know.

“but…but…but Tesla…”

go buy a Tesla already if they’re so great.

The fact that you want a car company who creates a special limited production car to put it out to the public on an online sale like concert tickets shows you’re a bit retarded.

They lose money on these cars, and create them for 2 reasons

  1. to create a halo car for a platform or the brand (or both)
  2. to reward their best customers

You must be kidding if you think this is ‘unfair’

p.s. the GT4 ran the nurburgring in 7 minutes 40 seconds. That’s uninspiring. This car is not only hideous, it’s also a bit of a flop.

I don’t think 7:40 is that bad. It’s in decent company.

While I do agree in execution, it needs to be taken with a grain of salt…keep in mind that when the cayman came out, porsche intentionally gave it a sh*t gearset just so it wouldn’t outshine the 911. Just like when BMW intentionally put an open rear diff in the 335i to keep it off the heels of the M3. Should they have not created said cars…IMO no…these halo cars still serve a purpose, and help reach into new markets that benefit the company as a whole. The silver lining is the tuner community can jump on these platforms and fill the void.

As a disclaimer, not all halo cars have a purpose…the LFA is a glaring example of this.

The LFA served a huge purpose…to re-vamp Lexus as a performance brand. It has worked to an extent. They now have the F models and F-sport models.

Unfortunately the LFA took too long, and by the time it came out it was 4x the price of a GTR and no faster.

Speaking of Lexus, I saw the new RCF a few weeks ago. Think I commented previously that the design concept didn’t look that bad. But after seeing it in person, the grill is really obnoxious. Not sure I’d ever get used to it. The old ISF looks much better.
