lulz on other forums (current, not classics)

EPL has been pretty liberal with their dyno but their cars have dyno’d well on other dynos too

unfortunately when you acceleration test them, they run like cars that make 100-150 whp less

For some perspective, that car is running a race gas file (93+100% Meth allows race parameters) and the car is making 560 whp. That’s about 75-100 whp more than a supercharged RS4 (JHM stage 2 for example). The B5 also weighs about 300 lbs less than a B7 RS4

Those JHM RS4s on pump gas, full interior run VERY low 11s and trap in the 125-126 range on pump. The car makes probably 500 whp. Fastest time we’ve seen is 11.12 @ 125. They have also run on race gas and hit 10.7 @ 130 mph.

This B5 car, even though it’s lighter and makes BUCKETLOADS more power and torque, if it ever runs at the strip, will struggle to run 11.9 @ 119 I predict. That’s what typically happens when you buy an EPL dyno sheet.

So yeah, if you want a dyno sheet, buy a B5 and get EPL to charge you $20,000 (that’s what this guy has likely paid, if not more, in mods). You will accelerate like a circa 2005 APR stage 3 K04 B5 S4, but that dyno sheet should help you win lots of B5 forum arguments. Just don’t pull it out in front of anyone who knows anything.

I didn’t realize that running 100% meth and pump allowed the car to take advantage of a “race gas” tune, makes a little more sense to me. Still I have my doubts about those numbers in a real world situation…

it allows you to set 100 octane gas tune like timing parameters, and when you’re boosting the car like this, that’s huge.

I personally would never feel comfortable boosting on a car that is tuned on meth, what happens when the fail-safe fails…

.

great question

however most B5 folks don’t think about stuff like that lol

Sounds like it will be ready in 2 weeks. Who puts a < $2000 supercharger on a $200k car?

the turbos on a McLaren aren’t much more than $2,000 each. Nor are the turbos on the new 488. Why does price determine worth? Great way to go broke.

Turbocharge your car with this one weird trick the oil companies don’t want you to know!!!1111

More seriously, the V10 is basically Lambo tuning. You shouldn’t expect you can tune it for GTI prices. Most reasonable people would think a reliable upgrade package for a low volume car like that to run around $30k installed.

fixed

New M3 runs 11.1 @ 125 MPH.
