MDUBZ Intro and B6 S4 Build Thread

Nice man!

Warning you now that the top middle rear bolt that screws into the rear diff can be a bitch.

Thanks Jimmy, I was actually just reading through your build thread again. That bolt sounds fun. I’ve been considering just taking it somewhere to do all the work but where’s the fun in that? Plus I’d rather spend $800 on tools than labor. Im thinking I should pick up a Bentley manual but curious if it would even help with getting the diff case out? I’d be happy with getting the diff case out so I can take it to a shop and let them handle the tricky parts.

Yeah the video sounded and looked awesome. You could tell there was a weird transmission of power just after the shift. A good practice thing to do. Is give a big lead ahead of traffic when your merging on the express way. When getting on try to be in the lowest gear possible and run through the gears getting up to speed.

Did you get the aluminum bushings on yet? I just ordered the fronts and curious what your impression is. the only other person i know that owns them is jimmy. (not that i wont take his word just curious what others feel).

Mine wont go on for probably a few more weeks.

I personally don’t see the point unless you are tracking the car. I personally haven’t felt it, but is the vibration increase really worth the b e n e f I t?

I haven’t installed them yet. I’m waiting for the rear adjustable upper control arms before I do the install. Then everything will go on at the same time. Bushings, control arms, and LSD. And the re welded subframe which better eliminate that fucking noise.

Really liking the PDX boost gauge. I have postponed getting a P3 vent until I am finished spending money on other random things that keep popping up. Bought a netbook, and hopefully will be getting a Ross Tech cable soon. Your build is moving quite along. Mine is halted until after the snow, and possibly until I can move back into my house. We will see. Looking good!

Thanks Marcus, I felt the gauge was a nice little addition to the appearance of the driver controls. I should also probably mention it was denrs4 and his pictures that convinced me to buy it. I think I’ve maxed the SC out at 5.94 psi so far.

You’re always welcome to come use my VAGCOM cable. I bring it with me everywhere and I’m constantly plugging it in just to look through everything and make sure I have no codes.

The build is almost done now. Just a few more things to do and then I’ll be looking for the next project car. Dare I say built RS4?

It would be interesting to have you get some boost reading at sea level to see just how much of a difference there is.

Looks a bit better than my shifting. And he’s shifting at 8k. Wtf! I can’t wait haha.

Wow that happened. Nice peak 12 lbs of boost.

Thanks for posting that!

I have to assume that the red gauge on the right is intake air temps. If so then that is awesome. It starts off around 50 degrees and hits 73ish by the end of the run. That is really good cold air.

I saw that video last night on instagram. Awesome but such a tease. I had no idea that the rev limit was that high on the stage 2 cars

Same here so I went and found it on YouTube.

Only Jason’s car revs that high. I think my rev limiter kicks in around 7400 RPMs. Same for the other stage 2 customer cars. I’m hoping I’ll get the 8k rev limiter with my next tune in the upcoming weeks.

Where you get these?

The subframe bushings are from 034 Motorsport. I think I remember that you have the LSD already.

Thanks Jimmy.

I do indeed have the LSD already. I just received the new control arms with the pillow ball bushings from 034 but will wait to install them to get those subframe bushings to install everything at once.

I actually didn’t even know about the rear subframe bushings until Eddie jumped in and told me about them. I was about to buy Meyle bushings. Thanks again buddy. I’m also installing the spherical bearings on my 034 front control arms and also picked up the rear adjustable upper control arms from 034 too.

Definitely one of my favorite tool purchases.

Another fun wrenching filled weekend next week.

Dude my battery powered DeWalt impact is fucking money…one of the best things I’ve ever bought. It’s rated at like 300ftlbs. Makes my air impacts obsolete to be honest.
