as far as a shift light, i had one in my camaro a long time ago, i put it inside the a/c vent. You couldnt really see it until the light flashed behind the grille. I liked it.
The revs come up on you pretty quick and the car keeps pulling hard until you hit the rpm limiter. Trying to get consistent shifts within a 100 rpm range by sound is unrealistic. I shift my shifter kart that way but it also starts to fall on its face at the same time…so shifting by sound/feel is easier. Not so with my station wagon (go figure), especially in the lower gears. Last thing I want to do is divert my attention from driving to look down at gauges.
Having a shift-light is just one less thing to think about when pushing the car.
Looks like I’ll be headed headed back back to Cali Cali in 3 weeks. I was told the installation of the final stage 2 kit is quite involved so they want to do the install and test drive the car to make sure everything is running like Jason’s car. As long as I have enough time to make it back to Colorado by Saturday morning on the 27th, I’m gonna hit up the drag strip in Sacramento and get my time for the the AR database .
Oh man how exciting is that. Would love to see you hit Sac and see how the car does. I will be in the hottest part of the year but it would be interesting to see how the car does. That’s great to hear.
Any chance you could make it to Sonoma Raceway for a Wednesday night drag? See the City, wine country etc. while you’re out here. Would be fun to do a side by side run. The odds of me making it to Sac Raceway are pretty slim but I may be interested in a meet up if you are game. LMK
I see what you did there. Always picking on me huh Saki? it’d be great to shut those guys up, but even if I ran a 10.9, you and I both know nothing would change.
RX-Heven, I’d love to meet up over there and do some pulls. Still waiting to hear back from Keaton but I’ll let you know as soon as I do.
Fresh new bumper and also just picked up some 3M vinyl wrap. Not trying to spend $10k on a color change paint job at the moment plus I want to see how I like it in satin white for an eventual color change paint job.
Yeah I’m gonna wrap it next weekend. I bought some application spray so I can put it down and move it into place so most of the car is gonna be fairly easy. I may keep certain things black so I’m going to see how the car looks with a black roof and door blades. If it looks good I’ll get some satin black to wrap those. If not I’ll go all white with black wheels, trim, mirrors, grills, cupra lip, and rear valence.
Sounds like a lot of work, let me know if you need a hand. I’d love to see how vinyl wrap actually works as I’d love to peel the plasti-shit off my trim and wrap it instead some time
I’d like to but Sac Raceway is a bit far given my time constraints. Also, if I snap a half-shaft or any of the other billions of failure points with these cars lets go, I’m much further from home.
On the other hand, the JHM crew would be there to potentially take the car for repairs and I do have a few buddies with 1000-1500 whp RX-7’s and Skylines who frequent the Sac track so a ride back could also be arranged.
Would also be cool to meet MDubz as I always enjoy meeting forum peeps.
I appreciate the offer. You’re always welcome to roll by to check out the progress if you want. I may also need an extra set of hands to lay the hood piece since it’s gonna be pretty big. Shoot me a text whenever and I’ll let you know what’s going on.
Sounds like the Cali trip might be extended indefinitely. If so I’ll be missing the Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack but for a very good reason. I also think it’d be cool to meet you and run the cars together. I’ll let you know what the final plans are when I get them worked out.
