My JHM Stage 1 Install with some twists

Small update,

Decided to not install the supplied solid plastic cover behind the fog light grill, instead found some black anodized aluminum mesh and installed that, prefer the look and should keep large debris out.

Fog Light Mesh

Noticed a small drop of oil on the floor after some spirit driving this past Saturday, position was just behind the front bumper on the driver side. Immediately suspect the new oil cooler lines that was installed and more specifically the multi joint connector on the JHM lines. Pulled the fog light grill and could see a small amount of oil directly below the connector so I might have to tighten the nut on the line and not the nut connecting to the oil cooler. Nothing serious though, will keep an eye on it and tighten that up when I remove the bumper over December ofr some other things I have planned.

Other than that, nothing else to complain about.

Exactly what i did on my car and also i put the fog light back in place to fill up the whole there, i just trim the back of my fog light so it wont touch the pulley

Hi Denis,

Yes, trimming the back of the housing etc. is totally worth it to have a working fog light as suppose to just putting a cover plate in to cover the fog light hole.

But don’t you have the 1+ installed with the smaller pulley which I thought will have enough clearance for the fog light to fit or did you still had to trim the back of the fog light?

Denis was stage 1 first though, for a couple of years.

I was not able to keep my fog light. I tried a bunch of different things to keep it but none worked. What I did manage to do miss cut it so it looks like the light is still there. Front end still looked normal with the lens still in place. I also used smaller mesh behind the grille. It just makes sense to have air flowing over the charger.

Yeah, keeping the fog light is absolutely possible but not easy. Lots of cutting, measuring and more cutting but definitely doable as can be seen on my build. I just couldn’t stomach not having it functional. Totally agree with the air flow, the solid cover provided with the kit didn’t do it for me. I couldn’t find the smaller mesh locally and the next best thing was what I currently have installed.

The exciting thing about the cooler weather is that the BLOWER gods give you free power in the cooler winter air. It makes for a different experience. Do you drive the car year round or do you put it up for the winter months.

Nope, one thing we are blessed with is good weather all year round so no need to park it up over the winter months.

Jimmy - Dru says i need to speak with you as you have the 1+ kit fitted. I need the email that he sent you as i also have the kit but need the install photos etc. Can you assist pls

Hi James,

LOL, firstly my name is Rudi, Jimmy is on the forum but this is not his build. Seems that we are both in the same situation as far as instructions for the 1+ is concerned. At least you got a lead back from them I have heard nothing as yet about the same question. :-\

However, in JHM’s defence when I started talking to them about the 1+ Jake did mentioned specifically to me that they will have to put something together as they haven’t had time as yet to put a proper set of instructions together. So, pretty sure that we will get something we just have to be patient.

Holding thumbs Jimmy could be of assistance though as I will need those instructions as well. Jimmy, if you can assist I would be most gratefull!

I was going to update my thread today regarding the 1+ because my package got delivered yesterday so here goes. ;D ;D ;D

Got this box of goodies from the guys at JHM, will go into it n a bit more detail on the contents later today when I have more time on my hands.

I might be able to help as well. I have worked on a the stage 2 RS4 and just helped replace the oil lines on a stage 2 S4 with the intercooler. Its a lot of work and its very well thought out. I can see if I can snap some pictures before we get the Stage 2 S4 all back together.

Thank you Sir, that would be awesome and very, very, very much appreciated !!!

Had more time to unpack all the parts and it’s almost like being a small kid in a candy store again, don’t know what to pick up and what to put down ;D

The more I looked at what JHM have done with this kit the more I realize I definitely made the right choice going with them. The parts are all top notch and the finish on everything is just amazing. That water tank is almost to nice to put in the car ;D ;D

Hey i did some runs last night and was not bad 11.9 at 120mph but my launch still not great:( but getting better:)

Rudi, send me your email. i have the photos etc

Jimmybones is running a stage 1+ kit on his S4 and did the install himself hence why was trying to reach out to him. But its pretty cool that we are both doing the same install at the same time.

This covers the install. Let the fun commence…

Looks fun. I cant see that between all of us and using the forum that we cant make sure this goes smooth.

It might be a good idea to make a thread here just for the install so it can be a good sorce of information for others in the future.

Totally agree.

Thanks, got the same link from Jake last night!

So went through all the pic’s last night and after the Stage 1 install everything somehow seems possible ;D
I would probably also have to come up with some modifications due to mine being RHD and although the S4 is very similar I am sure with the RS4 there will be some other small differences.

Just a pic of what’s in the Box.

Need to decide whether I will just carry on with this thread or start a 1+ thread, probably best to start a separate thread for the Stage 1+ :-\

Anyway, back to the Box.

Well, initially just paper, lots of it!!
