again, nobody cares about that stuff. Axel likes his blackberry just fine for work stuff, email specifically. Mine is predominantly an email device as well. Having incredible download speeds so we can download movies is like priority 99 for us. It’s almost irrelevant.
You started with ‘blackberries freeze and need the battery pulled every day’ but when it was shown that your experience with that many problems on that many blackberry devices is just strange and not ‘the norm’ you veered off to ‘android is better for _ _ _ _ _ ’ (basically anything but what Axel and I mentioned we need the phone to do. I want a samsung note just because it has a massive screen and has access to Rogers’ LTE network, so it will operate as a tablet of sorts…and I would like to see if it would be able to replace my home internet service.
So I think you just want to be a phone fanboy but it’s kind of a weird thing to be so much of a fanboy about. Who gives a fuck? I sure don’t think I’d run around telling everyone their phone is terrible. You’re being the equivalent of a B5 troll coming into the B6/7 section and saying ‘your cars are slow mine is the bestest’. Remember, these things are free…and they’re available to everyone here. People choose what they want to choose. It’s not like nobody knows about Samsung (or iPhone etc)
Axel does care, he thinks his phone can do everything mine can.
Your right. Battery pulling is so NOt the norm… people arent wrinting blackberry apps to do it without having to physically do it manually its so annoying and happens so often.
What was i thinking to argue a point that only happened to ME and my FIVE BB devices (three different models) :
Knowing a thing or 2 about mobile devices makes me a fanboy then?
Funny you mention me being a b5 guy trolling the B6/B7 guys, becuase anyone who says they never battery pull to me is like someone who buys a VF supercharger and tries to convince people thier car is fast!
And just to sum up the posts in here before you accuse me of going off on tangents let me do a little re-cap for you
post 18 axel wants to know why all the BB hate
19 i mention the Batter pulls, lack of apps and outdated technology
23 you claim the battery pulls is not accurate (see apps and forums above. Obviosuly this is a more widespread problem then you knew about)
31,32 you and axel claim i had too many apps and crashed the phone
33 i exlain how shit tons of apps work fine on other platforms, why would it crash my blackberry
34 Axel wants to know what my phone can do that his cant
35 - 38 i list everything his phone cant do that mine can
41 you accuse me of veering off was it? (still not sure where i veered off when i was just answering questions but we might have different definitions of veering of)
What can i say… i dont just modify cars to make them better and faster… i also mod phones. Not a fan boy… just informed on the topic at hand
the first 3 links wernt searches though. they are APPS… created to do the battery pull.
I do agree people satisfied with their products dont complain… but how do you explain this?
[quote]QuickPull 5 is the latest iteration of one of the most popular BlackBerry® applications ever. With over 3 million users in 35 countries, QuickPull has become the “must have” utility of every BlackBerry® user. QuickPull 5 is no exception. Completely rewritten from scratch, it offers the most compatibility, most stability, and easiest use of any version of QuickPull to date.

Those 3 million are not necessarily people voicing their opinions on the web. That is 3 million people who got tired of taking their phones out of the protective case to remove the back cover and pull the battery. So they got an application to do it for them.
I can’t remember ever pulling the battery out of my phone. Maybe people are having problems with their phones that they’re blaming on the phone…when its a user problem. The battery pull is a bit of a moronic ‘solution’. The phones arent designed to need a battery pull, so clearly there’s more to it. Like rs4 owners who drive poorly then blame carbon. Suddenly everyone blames everything on carbon. Can’t shift? Carbon. Vac leak? Carbon. Shitty da when you run? Carbon.
Nope, no covers whatsoever, the phones just kept overheating and failing. Great stuff.
I have an android device in my car and have access to all those apps. How many have I downloaded? 2 An offline GPS nav system and torque light.
I’d like to see you take a pic of your car’s head unit at night with no flash. Are you seriously going to compare such photos? If you’re serious, you need to learn a few things about photography.
Ok, good point. I don’t carry my movies with me but granted, my BB can’t do that (I think, I never looked into it seeing as I’ve never felt the need to). I don’t even have cable at home to give you an indication of how much I care about Live TV.
Huh? I don’t get it. You’re using your phone as a USB mass storage device? I believe I’ve done that with my BB in order to offload the pics of my head unit I just uploaded. I don’t get it. Maybe I’m missing something.
Another good point. I stopped playing those games about 25 years ago but good point.
Well, being an amateur photographer with a crap load of lens, I will tell you I don’t care to take pictures with a phone. Call me an elitist but I have standards when it comes to photography. Try to get a shallow DOF with a camera phone.
I don’t care, as long as it works. Oh and Google Maps is free on the BB as well in case you didn’t know.
Thats not mass storage thats transferring a picture you took with your phone to your computer. Did you take the memory card out or did you transfer it through the blackberry desktop software?
If you took the card out, kind of a long and annoying process. Doubt you did that.
If you used the desktop program, do you have that program installed at work? Sure most likely. What if your at someone’s house and want to share some pics and they dont have a BB?
And thats just photo’s.
Can you copy powerpoint presentations, PDF files, could you bring me a copy of the latest Adobe photoshop with a blackberry?
People who travel to the USA will care. You incur roaming charges on BB devices that have GPS on.
Leads to an interesting question. Does the unit have gps antenna’s? or does it rely on cellular triangulation as well? Does the offline GPS unit offer searching for POI’s if it doesnt have data connectivity? Would be awesome if it did.
Man stop with these weak RS4 analogies! Most RS4 owners are elitist morons who dont have a clue how cars work with more money than brains who are looking to elevate their social status.
Are you saying the millions Blackberry users are elitist morons who dont have a clue how phones work who are trying to elevate their social status with their phones?
You can also find in forums like these information to prove that carbon buildup in RS4’s is not as bad a problem as people claim. Were talking about 5-10 RS4 drivers out of the 2400 in the US who took time and make the test.
Out of the millions of blackberry users… are you going to tell me none of the blackberry fanboys took the time to test and disprove that blackberries crash often and require battery pulls?
The need to pull the battery is very simple in fact. The phone locks up caused by a memory leak. Unless you pull the battery to FORCE it to shut down since all buttons including the power buttons are unresponsive.
This is the problem these people have with their phones. Now with time it was discovered that if you wipe the memory once in a while (maybe every day or 2 depending on how hard you use your phone) with a “battery pull app” you could avoid those lock ups.All the app does is force shuts processes currently running. In the same way you can force shut a program on PC using CRTL+ALT+DEL.
Now you and Axel may never have had to do a battery pull. Thats simple to explain.
How often in a week do you let your phones battery drain out to the point that it shuts off? Cause thats the equivalent of doing a battery pull.
How hard do you push your phone?
You just use the phone, email, youtube app and internet. 4 of the most basic and lightweight functions the phone offers. I dont think that would even qualify as using 1% of the phones potential.
I remember when i used to use these… Never needed a battery pull either since they didnt do anything except phone calls or type
Im talking about phones like you talk about JHM and RS4’s …
Yet you MANstruate when people call you a fanboy.
Double standard much?
Its funny that all this stemmed from you claiming that blackberries needing battery pulls and when you get your eyes opened to how widespread the problem really is you veer off on calling me a fanboy.
Your being the equivalent of Rs4 owners on quattroworld who just found out their AMD / VF supercharger sucks so they start calling people names since thats all they have left.
2 guys said they were happy with their blackberrys and refuted your initial anti blackberry rant with simple ‘that isn’t reflective of my experience’ comments.
then you filled 3 PAGES with junk about androids when nobody said androids were bad. Think about it… Nobody cares. Now you’re drawing crazy parallels to rs4 owners being elitist morons and saying blackberry owners are the same all because I used an analogy to explain a possible reason for the angry battery pull mob.
you sound a little ridiculous. This will be my last post in this thread, but let me remind you what sent you into android promotion mode…
as you can see nobody said anything negative about android…quite the opposite. I said I wanted an android phone. In fact both axel and I just said we were happy with our blackberry… Then the rants started.
Go back and read the whole thread instead of skipping over every second post before you make your silly comments.
Promotion mode? Hardly…
If he would have said “So, what can you do with your iphone or android that i can’t on my normal day to day minimalistic use of a smartphone?”
That would have been the end of that conversation.
That wasnt the question however, was it? You didnt know shit about android phones other than they existed until you saw what mine was capable of a few weeks ago. Most people dont know. Most people arent even aware of what their own current phones can do be it blackberry, iphone or windows phones.
You see promotion, i see educating.
Enough about phones… time to hit the driving range!!! 8)
Funny enough, I don’t let my phone drain to the point where it turns itself off yet I haven’t needed any battery pulls but my friends iphone keeps killing itself and I needed to do a battery pull on my gf’s Android today of all days. Just thought that was funny. Obviously, the battery pull on BBs are known but saki and I just haven’t experienced those. Maybe we’re lucky.
You did point out a few things that an Android OR an iPhone could do so in the end, it seems like each unit has their strengths and weaknesses, hence the reason people end up buying one over the other two. I’ve never felt limited by my BB and I much prefer its ergonomics and user interface than the other two phones which is why I’m still with BB (I love the new Bold 9900). Technically, you started the hate bora with the “why does anyone want to steal a BB these days”. Well, some people (like me) love the new device and will continue to use it for a long time. My gf picked the Android instead because it suited her needs more (bigger screen and she didn’t feel the need for a physical keyboard) so to each their own. Just don’t see the point in dissing BB. Now if you want to diss RIM for poor business decisions, that’s different. It’s not subjective, it’s clear (by looking at their financial numbers) that they’ve made very poor business decisions. If they don’t turn it around this year, the point of no return might be crossed.
I cant agree more. But for anyone making the move into the smartphone world i would recomment an iphone or blackberry over an android phone.
The simplicity of use is definatly a great feature, for the iphone especially (itunes aside)
My 18 month old figured out on his own how to unlock the phone, navigate through the apps to find his bob the builder / baby einstein apps. That speaks volumes on how easy it is to use.
Not that androids are that much more complicated interface wise, but its definatly less “plug and play”. They work alright out of the box, but to get more out of an android you have to get into the settings and tweak.
see I find my android easier to use, its very PC/windows like to me… apple products are so dumbed down I have a harder time learning to use them becuase functionality is so restricted/hidden.
the only redeming factor of the iphone is the camera, the pictures are better than my shitty android… otherwise it really sucks. touchscreen only sucks, cant open real documents from what I can tell, can only email 1 picture at a time, the built in email app in general, my pc doesnt recognize it/I cant get pictures off of it through usb, the navigation is slow to load and awkward to use
I too can’t figure out how to use the iphone properly. The interface drives me insane and I always end up wanting to throw it out the window. However, with so many people loving it, guess we’re simply the minority.
