When it really comes down to it, there is probably little difference between the stage II and stage I tunes of the same company. Consider APR…if you took your stage II to altitude, where you were making stage I levels of boost, the ignition, IAT and fuel values would more than likely look similar to a stage 1 tune. How far off could it be? Theoretically if the tables are perfect then it should be able to handle any load within the table.
With that in mind, I just can’t see how they can get it so wrong - the one tuner that can’t keep the bypass valve shut.
On a B8 S4, when you’re in boost, the throttle is the blower bypass valve, not the traditional throttle…
On GIAC, (and APR v1), the load tables are limited, they didn’t consider that you may have awesome atmospheric conditions and left a lot on the table. Basically the load table ends and the bypass valve starts opening, the same way the throttle would close to limit load in your car.
LOL! Richi hit the nail on the head… The last person they want testing is Pete because he will actually post the results… So much for the pulley manufacturing, err coating delay…
Dude i’m livid… Austin giving me one story and Will another. Austin has been nothing but helpful… AWE so far doesn’t look the same… I’m still down to be there tomorrow AM if they actually want some real testing and not some asshat who will write “Awesome Pulley” “Feels Great” and they throw on the dyno and make some unrealistic number that has nothing to do with the real world…
Pete/Tsivas, You know that is exactly what they do want… someone to post man this thing is fast, say like 1fasts4… Not someone who gathers data and says it’s only making 1-1.5 more psi, or my dsg doesn’t shift right, etc. Will is not the best represenative for the company IMO… I have dealt with Todd on a few things and actually AWE is who got my stock cats in order to design some HFC’s… Still waiting…
That’s a funny thread. However he did say the customer needs to have AWE exhaust, GIAC tune, AWE intake.
Pete has a Strat intake. Their competitor. Wonder if that’s the excuse they’ll use.
It sure is weird though. I don’t think they’re scared of anything. It’s a frigging pulley. It will spin the blower harder. It will make more power if the tuners aren’t morons (they’re not…GIAC has a good grasp).
Maybe AWE just doesn’t like Auditude. Maybe AWE just wants more control over the testers?
It’s certainly weird though.
re: them not coming to ATCO last year, they’re one of those companies that has always been terrified of the quarter mile, and in love with dyno results. On their dyno. “The Moment of Truth” (and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a true dyno sheet come out of AWE…always corrected up to fuck so they’d have dynapack like numbers, out of some ridiculous fear of APR etc.)
I still wonder why people aren’t buying B8 S4 APR products in the first place. Is anyone even REMOTELY as bought into this platform as APR?
