So I got the lower oil pan sealed and tightened down

Unfortunately the oil supply line that runs from the oil pump to the front crank seal flange (longer line) has to be installed prior to sealing up the lower pan, so I’ll chalk this up as a little practice for the final run.

Normally as you can see, the oil pan gasket for the 2.7 is a Form In Place Gasket, but I did a little searching and it looks like the 2.8 30(v) has an actual gasket (that supposedly fits, we’ll see), so I am going to order that as well as a new oil pump chain, the front flange gasket and a front main seal.

Oil Pan Gasket - 078103610E
Front Crankshaft Sealing Flange Gasket - 078115189H

Oil Pump Chain - 078115125

I have been looking into how I am going to run my wet nitrous set up. I am not real familiar with using nitrous, just what I have been reading. I understand that to keep cylinder pressure somewhat in check, it is recommended that I activate the system above 2500rpm and that ignition timing should be retarded about 1 degree (for every 25 shot, timing should be retarded 1 degree, according to Zex) or possibly 2 degrees, as a 50 shot is probably as high as I am willing to go. I can’t seem to find much info specific to the Audi, but my friends at SpecialtyZ have a shop 300zx twin Garrett Gtx 3076’s on a .020 bored over 3 liter Nissan motor, that uses nitrous on a window switch to spool those snails. The car runs a 9.30 in the qtr @ 151mph and Greg drives it to work:

I will give Greg or Seb a call and talk with them about how to best setup a turbo/nitrous car on a window switch. They have tuned a few Texas Mile TT’d R8’s but I would imagine those were on stand alone ecu’s. I wish my platform wasn’t so full of immature cheap-asses that just chase any innovation away (eg. JHM offering to manufacture a nitrous plate for the 2.7). Oh well.

Late to reply, but very sorry to hear about the news on your mastiff. I’ve been following the build which has been fun to watch, but anytime news like that is dealt about a family pet (and effectively a family member) I know how hard it can be. But it’s excited to hear about the new pup and as you mentioned, hopefully some of the personality and traits will be passed down to stay in the family.

You guys really are all a class act. Thank you so much Maddog, I appreciate the well wishes. I am super OCD as it is, so I have been measuring Kaidens bump and charting the growth. To this point, with the anti inflammatory medicine, Essiac Tea, CBD canine cakes, and a super healthy diet, his bump has actually decreased in circumference by about .25". He is still himself and loves to play with his squeaky balls and destroy the kiddie pool that I bought for him though I am not delusional enough to think that we are curing his cancer, it is really awesome to not have to face the devastating effects of Ostesarcoma, yet.

Artoo tipping the scales at just over 4 lbs, less than 2 weeks old, he is going to be HUGE!!!

They look great, glad they enjoyed the fourth. We should make a pet thread here somewhere in general chat?
My Archie’s next brother will be a golden mountain dog. Cross between an English creme retriever and Bernese mountain dog. I hear the cross is much healthier, as some Bernese only live 7-8 years :-[

4lbs at 2 weeks old :o :o :o

That’s gonna be a big one!!! I was thinking we had a pet thread on here, but maybe we don’t? If not it would be good to have one!

There’s a dog thread here.

Wow, I was just reading up on the Berner, you are totally correct, 6-8 years is their life expectancy. It looks like they blame the health problems on their small genetic foundation, which I am assuming there is a lot of line breeding (aka inbreeding) and the gene pool has a lot of the same dna. I believe Kaidens health issues come from line breeding as his Great Grandfather is his Father and about the same on his mother’s side.

I saw I have been there, lol. I really don’t care if you guys want to talk about dogs here, I can’t do anything on my build until parts arrive and I do have a passion for the 4 legged critters, so whatever floats your guys’ boat. Clutter away. On top of that, on this post I became a full fledged member, so I gave all you guys karma points, thanks for visiting and being the class act that you guys are.

I added some more info to the installation and torque spec post (upper oil pan, front flange seal, oil pump/chain, and lower oil pan).

Kaiden has been doing awesome this week,

Taught our pit to high five along with the proverbial shake. She thinks she is the coolest now. More like we think she is, Lol!

She is gorgeous, such a sweet face. Thank you for sharing Happy. Your car looks amazing on the Jhm video, you enjoying it?

Thanks man. Thanks for asking. Its been a bit of a struggle thus far quite frankly. I am enjoying it, just not as much or hassle free as I would have hoped. That said, I am confident it will get to that point with the continued support of JHM. Just been one nagging thing after another. I love the transformation. But, I know it can and will be so much better as long as we keep at it.

I m sorry to hear. I m sure it will get sorted. One of my builds took me three motors and 4 seperate dyno tuning sessions to start to get the car where i was happy with the cars performane. I hated that car (most of the time), but once things started to sort out, It was an amazing car. Hang in there.

It really hasn’t been that bad. Just unexpected

That’s good to hear. Regardless, your car looks great and sounds amazing. Awesome job on doing something different and following through, too many times people get overwhelmed by as huge of a project as you took on.

My buddy just got a new vw gti and goes to SacRaceway every weds for Street Legals. He talked me into going to Redding Drag Strip on the spur of the moment last night, so I had to run 91 octane as I couldn’t track down any racegas. My best was 12.9 @ 112mph, 2.34 60ft, ~95 degrees at 10pm. My launches are just as terrible as ever and the same can be said about my shifting. So frustrating. The cool thing is that Kelly Chambers was there, he has appeared twice on Street Outlaws (he had the 57 Chevy, that raced Murder Nova), as well as a handful of 9 second cars there, all mph’ing in the high 140’s to the low 150’s.

12.9 is much better then most b5 guys see now adays.

on 91 octane in 95 degree heat with a 2.34 60 thats actually not bad. seriously.

If your going to drag the car you have to nail down your shifts. That is the one thing you really need to work on. Every time you get on the express way wait for a clear ramp and do a quick 1-3 pull. making sure you shift into 3rd. The launch is something that can kill a run. If your getting 2.3 60 foot times. I would suggest stop trying to pop the clutch or stop trying to rev dump. Just leave off the line at the track like you would the street.

B5s are race gas whores so to go 12.9 isnt too bad espically when you consider your 60foot.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. You hit the nail on the head with you analysis of my launches, I got too flustered trying to get my rpm’s up, reacting to the tree, and trying to get out of the hole. No matter what I tried, when I rolled into the staging lights, I just went back to instinct and any form that I was trying to work on went out the window. Grrrrrrr. In fact one run, I was using the ebrake to try and build a little boost at the line, I left and when I got down to the end of the track I left the ebrake partially engaged the whole way down, just stupid shit.

Hahahaha ;D ebrake bit you in the ass. I am sure it was fun though regardless of et. Always had fun at the track.

I surely had fun, I m just coming to realization that I suck at the 1\4.
