Pay special attention to the Tial cars.

Tial 605 car = 12.11 @ 121
Tial 770 car = 12.4 @ 128 (this is the ‘world’s most powerful S4’ referenced in Jason’s signature I believe)

That car ran a crazy fast 60-130 time and posted up on 6speedonline. I ruined the party by posting the quarter mile time, and the guys there, who at least understand a little something about trap speeds etc. called bullshit on the whole EPL/AMD Tial love in.

yes he does. I’ve been there in a group of half a dozen Audis that sort of included him (he came with some other dudes). That was the night he ran 11.9. I saw him there this fall as well, but he was arriving as we were leaving. He said he ran 12s a few times, no 11s. 12.2 @ 116. No meth file…pump gas (94 probably). He got there late and didn’t get to try other files. Weird thing, tuning your own car. Seems like fun, but something I’d NEVER try to do. It’s like trying to fix your own fillings. Sure you might get it done…but why wouldn’t you pay a professional to do it perfectly?

It was cold and perfect for racing. That’s the day George went 12.2 as well ironically in his all motor RS4…for perspective.

Wow that shit exploded quick. Notorious is the armpit of the the B5 world. The second you start question his Tial kit, he says he’s not saying any more and the thread should be locked. It’s ok though, because it seems like the majority of the B5 guys see through the Tial smoke.

Apparently almost 100 sets of frankenturbo kits have been sold, soooo. . . where is all the hype they claim to be, especially with so many sets out there. Tony at least argue’s that there’s only 20-30 TiAL’s out there, but hell, I would think 5 would be enough to at least see some trap times. . . guess not.

Here’s a 11.8 @ 118 mph B7 RS4 walking that frankenturbo car. Badly. FT is basically K04 performance…i.e. low 12s @ 115 mph on pump. Solid performance, and way cheaper than BW K04, so a good option…but not a world beater like RS6 or GT cars.

The FT car was re-tuned by VAST that day and the owner said it felt great. If you’ll notice in the pull vs. the Rs4, it’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th…so basically they did a quarter mile run without the launch. At the top of 4th for the RS4 (which is where it would trap) the gap is about 5-6 cars. That RS4 ran 11.8, so add 5-6 car lengths (which is 5-6 tenths as at 110mph you’re going 15 feet, a.k.a. a car length per tenth) and the FT car would be running 12.3-12.4 around. The one pass that car made at the strip, it fucked up the launch but it trapped 112 or so. And by fucked up the launch, I mean 2.7 60 foot time lol. We’ll get him out in the spring to see what it can really do.

This all just motivates me more ;D

And saki, thanks for clarifying about the FT option, I knew they were more a ko4 rival as the ko4’s have become increasingly more difficult to source. But it seems from my limited knowledge, the ko4’s are still better quality and performance when everything is done properly vs the FT, no? (at the end of the day it all comes down to bottom dollar though)

I’m not a B5 guy but apparently K04s are like 2% better downlow and FT are like 2% better up top. Basically the same…but the frankenturbos are 20%-30% cheaper, thus they’re attractive. The % numbers I quoted are heresay from B5 guys who have raced each other in FT vs. K04 showdowns.

The maps on the FT webpage show the difference being a bit more than a couple percent, but they’re on the FT webpage so take that with a grain of salt. Guy who sells them/makes them is pretty funny.

FT = $1800
K04 = $2500

That thread was hilarious - 91 breaking hearts there. It is very hard for them to argue with someone who is the record holder of a platform they use to trash talk and troll in all the time, but now they have got nothing because we have something to turn the boost up on. That comment about comparing a SC boost to a Turbo boost showed how stupid they are.

i used to HATE posting in the b5 section, now its a joke. all the big time b5 guys with fast cars left and are not there to guide the idiots left behind. so they all get wet and shit over these crappy tial kits and since they have no clue about true performance, they think they are world beater.

When I first bought by B6 S4 18m ago, I’ll admit I looked at a few B5 S4’s. Browsing the forums, the B5 S4 was king, even if the dreaded dentist’s drill meant an expensive trip to the shop, but hey at least there were K04/GT options and VAST/JHM to tune the shit out of it. The B5 S4 forum was full of confident guys with results to back it up.

Now you can see how uneducated some of those guys and how stagnant things have been. I’ve only been into the Audi scene for 18 months but it’s obvious that they have no idea about the V8 Audi’s and the progress that has been made. Someone made a crack at Joe for his all motor 93 tuned car - I don’t think that person realises that means B5 stg 2 fast? Someone else cracked a remark about your “$12000 s/c” but didn’t realise the cost of a GT build/tune.

Really? You think im like those guys cuz I have a B5? Come on Saki ;), I would never touch tials. I dont mess around with garbage and dyno numbers as they never impress me. I install only real parts that are tested and beat to fuck, then I install it and beat the fuck out it twice as hard.

I’m not going GT’s. not streetable, might as well get a supra and go single. What I get will be better. And yes i will blow that theory away.
