Oct 4th St. Thomas/Sparta 5252 Track Day

Did you run any times? Bangoman was there but it looks like he has a vac leak.

I had to drive like ken block to beat the rain so when I got there my clutch was on fire. I got in the gate through everything out of the car and staged I was only able to make 1 pass it was already raining at the end of the track.

I left hard but shifting into the second the clutch slipped but I kept my foot planted, went into third and it slipped worse so I backed off and coasted to the end. still ran a 13.50

im thinking I may have caught the clutch pedal on my jeans though because I cant recreate the slipping now and trust me I tried. im going back tomorrow to shoot for a better time on the board.

I may go tmp or Sparta depending on whos weather looks best. anyone wanna come?

its a shame too cuz the car is running so fucking good right now. I know I can beat my record.

I also bested my 60 foot by nearly a tenth 1.80, on my best run my 60 foot was 1.88 and now I am just dying to get more passes in.

Terrific news. Congratulations

That’s awesome Jeff! Props for sticking it out… Was hoping you got in the 11.5x but still a record… Any vids? Congrats!

Yah I was hoping for 11.5 too, just wasn’t in the cards for the day. I’m thinking with slightly better DA it’s possible. Traction is a huge issue for me right now. Also the fact I hit 119 with a headwind tells me the car is def one of the fastest, if not, the fastest B8 out there. Screw the east coast negative altitude guys (Pete), :slight_smile: :wink: ;D

Honestly, if it wouldn’t put so many extra miles on the car, I would love to drive out to English-town for a weekend.

But as we can see, these cars are pretty much maxed out at their current mods.

So the changes I made were a snorkel that sucks air from the bottom of the bumper and exits right at the filter for the the roc euro. I took my air filter off and plumbed the snorkel right over the intake pipe. This was great because I have had this for a while and I watched Skywagon perform surgery on his hood. I am also running one step colder NGK iridium plugs, level 9. I have a custom PCV catch can that is NOT plumbed into the intake and fully eliminates oil vapors from entering the intake path. Either from below the blower of positive crankcase pressure.

Video Explaining Snorkel Setup… Poor poor Skywagon:

I am extremely pissed at how long it took to get everything going. My laptop had a full charge and I forgot to shut it off, by the time the event started (3 hours later) it was DEAD. So pissed.

The reason I am so pissed is because I was watching my P3 gauge and normally on my e85/100 octane mix I hit 30 degrees of timing at the top of 2nd and 3rd.

Well, with the Fuse Fuel I was only hitting 24-26. So I am curious if the extra octane hampered me, or if the e85/100 octane mix is just this shit. Either way, still some room on the table to hit 11.5 and will be attempting to do so over the next couple weeks.

Saki, Prime, anyone have any idea about running TOO high of octane?

I have some vids, but because the weren’t using the timing boards it is basically useless for knowing what run was my fastest.

Awesome work, congrats!

Awesome times Jones! ! I know it’s got an 11.5xx in there, go find it! ! ;D

Makes me wish I had a DSG… Only sometimes!

How does it work with the dsg cuz it sounds like a manual doin a no lift shift?

That is exactly what it does. There are two transmissions mounted side by side, when one gear is engaged the next gear is already spinning at the proper speed waiting to be engaged. When the car shifts it quickly releases clutch one and engages clutch two

Great times Jeff!

Thanks Kris

What size are your rims? What tires were you using?

18’s and same tires as Ron, DW I believe, or DWS, whatever the summer version is lol.

Great times! Congratulations. That 60’ is nuts.

Yup, I am 100% sold on the GIAC TCU flash.

I had 3 1.61 60’s

7+ 1.62-1.66 60’s

and my 1 1.60 60’

All using GIAC launch control, when I used my old side step method I did manage to get as low as 1.65 but mostly 1.7x’s

DW = DRY WET
DWS = DRY WET SNOW

It’s the DW tires… No snow for me, heck no rain for that matter…

Thanks for sharing the vids Jeff… Not sure I agree on the dragster approach to staging but that’s your call… Awesome 60’s!
