Its a new code that will show up on every work order for a particular vehicle that has been flagged for having a tuned ecu. So if you have a B8 S4 with an APR tune for example, the minute your car gets scanned at the dealership, it would be flagged as TD1. Allegedly, potentially, preventing you from receiving warranty work.
I have a slight incline on my driveway and I have about 2-5" of clearance with passenger side mirror when pulling in…sometimes it takes a little bit of clutch “dancing” if you will. It is like I’m flooring it, but at those low RPMs it can kind of rumble. Not a bad thing, just kind of loud. The JHM exhaust on Mick’s car (not to mention the challenge of the LWFW and Stage whatever clutch) is loud down low. The driveway thing was just an example of one reason I wouldn’t want one that loud…in general, it is just too loud for me. Personal preference.
Thanks! Funny, when I hear “AR” I tend to think of a gun. Not because I’m a gun guy, but because one of the categories at my work is focused on the tactical consumer…so AR15s are common talk around the office.

When I had my B7 S4 tuned and got downpipe and catback mods done, I was a bit mortified at the volume level. I was at a weekend meet with the guys from JHM, and about 6 other S4 owners when the work was done. They were all like ‘what the fuck is he talking about? His car is quiet’.
I should say that my B7 S4, when it had 2.5" catless downpipes and 2.5" Fast Intentions catback was WAY louder than ‘2000S4’ who had an RS4 with a full catless 2.75" downpipes and catback setup. That RS4 was nowhere near ‘way too loud’ and I’d consider myself pretty conservative. It was the exact same setup as Mick.
So I think your aversion to exhaust levels like Mick’s would make you ‘unique’ on most forums. Definitely in a very small minority.
Oh its loud for sure, i agree. But as long as your not mashing the gas for fun in your driveway, i dont think you would get much hate!

man, the B7 FI systems sound like sex. That’s 5x louder than my car I bet and I’ve gotten the “holly fuck that thing is loud!” reaction from quite a few people. I’ve been right up next to trexturk’s car with catless and B7 FI and it just screams.

Joe, I may be muffler-less for sowo. . . that’ll redefine your perception of loud. After my wreck and post header install I was on headers->catless->F.I. X-pipe & resonators->nothing and it sounded unreal. But with the sound coming out right at the rear axel (rear portion past removed b/c the fit needed to be readjusted) it just boomed in & under the car. I’m looking at maybe getting some tips from the resonator back made, and if so. . . yea.
Only concern is the amount of attention it may draw on the way down, especially since my tags are expired, illegal side tint, illegal front tint, probably illegal headlight/tailight tint and all around black drug dealing looking car (as my friends say). It’d suck to draw too much attention and get a ticket b/c of that, but once you hear the sound once, you want it back lol.
+1 on the FI setup, I have heard it on two cars (not sure of resonators or not) with one catless and it sounds awesome.
