People were asking for a sound clip....

Someone I showed that to also noticed it is not resonated. That is going to be raspy as fuck.

Can’t wait to hear it…I bet Mick can’t wait either. He bought it with absolutely no idea what it will sound like or perform like, since they had to change the mufflers

what are those 2 pieces of pipe standing up? I thought those were the resonators ?

They are mated up between the xpipe and DP. or was it just a transition?

don’t know. I thought it was supposed to have a swappable catalytic converter/test-pipe(catless) section. I thought that’s maybe what it was.

Those sharp bends at the back are crap. I’ll be surprised if they don’t revise that. Maybe it’s just the photo but that section just before the mufflers looks 2.5 as well.

I currently have the AWE CB setup on my car and it is non resonated… there was some rasp in its early life, and even at that it was only really when the car was cold. Once the car got to temp no rasp. Now there is really no rasp at all any time, unless im just that conditioned and don’t notice it at all…

Yep, Sebring mufflers are inferior than mufflers made of precious metals like platinum, gold or silver. If you are going to slum your way into an all stainless muffler Sebring is as good as it gets…

yeah, I don’t know as I haven’t heard your car, but we are referring to a 2.75" exhaust with who knows what mufflers and no resonators…so we’ll have to wait and see. I still think it will be quite raspy.

Got a video of your car? Would be interesting to see what your idea of non-raspy is.

from what i hear zmon’s awe drones at highway cruising speed. not something that i would want.

zmon does it drone at highway speed or is that just rumor?

Those are not resonators but fit between the downpipes and midsection as test pipes. Also, cats can be put in that location as well.

Mick raved on and on how JHM’s exhaust “bottem’ed out” and that this one would not. Those bends are most likely the only route to go if your going to tuck the line in i guess.

Well, right now i have fully gutted downpipes (pre+main cats) and since putting these on the “drone” profile has changed. With the gutted dp’s it will drone at any speed if you are right on 3K rpm. something i had to get used to, and it can sometimes be a pain on a 55mph road… So i keep it either right below or right above 3k

Before with non res AWE and stock DP’s the drone point was 1500-1900 RPM which i never drive down there so that was no problem.

And Saki… regarding the rasp you are correct, i have no idea regarding a 2.75" exhaust… we will wait and see.

drone sucks, but is part of the deal if you want a performance focused exhaust. OEMs spend millions trying to eliminate drone, but end up with complicated baffled mufflers that reduce performance. Ever cut into an OEM muffler? It’s like a mouse maze.

APR claims to have technology that eliminates drone…not sure the effect on performance though.

V8 drone is usually around 1000-2000 RPM from what I’ve seen, while inline and V6 drone is higher up in the highway cruising range. E46 M3 guys used to bitch constantly about highway drone if you were at all on the throttle around 3k RPM.

Surprised to hear ZMON droning there.

I found this quote interesting. Anyone else think it’s INCREDIBLY obvious that this guy in in cahoots with Ben and Enrique exhaust works? I mean jesus nevermind all the advertising/trolling he’s doing on all the Audi forums (and getting close to being banned as a result)…but isn’t this guy supposed to be smart?

They changed the design, changed the mufflers…yet somehow fatso already knows it is going to flow better than when it had Sebring mufflers? This guy is not very good at concealing his connection to ebwerks. He makes these reviews based on emotional attachment, not facts. Just useless. No wonder enrique asked him to STFU.

[quote=mickf29]Sebring mufflers were decent, but they did show heat warping and wrinkling. Not sure about Miltek cans, but Anyways I have nothing really negative to say about the old exhaust system I had, it was good, but this is a significant improvement. this is alot like a performance oriented Capristo. Quality is top notch, and it performs.

When I took my JHM system off with those Sebring mufflers, they were definitely warped, wrinkled from heat, and were not holding up as I had hoped. Glad they went a different path with stronger cans. I also understand these will flow better.

  1. you don’t have anything negative to say, but you just said the mufflers were warping and wrinkling (which NOBODY has ever reported about Sebring mufflers, FYI). Funny, in his classifieds ad, he said the exhaust was mint. He mentioned NOTHING about any of these problems. Now we know that he was either scamming in the classified ad, or scamming right now. I will contact the buyer of the old JHM exhaust he claims were ‘warped and wrinkled’. I’ll even have him comment in this thread.
  2. HOW is this a significant improvement? IT HAS NEVER BEEN INSTALLED ON A CAR YET…LET ALONE YOURS!!!
  3. HOW is this anythying like a $5,000 Capristo with remote controlled valves etc??? It’s some simple non resonated, non valved mandrel bent tubing lol. If he measn the jagged bends towards the end are like Capristo, then I guess he’s right. nothing like turning your exhaust gases 180 degrees in 2 feet lol.
  4. How can anyone comment on quality based on a 500 pixel photograph? HE hasn’t even been in the same state as the fucking exhaust yet!
  5. NOBODY knows how this performs yet. NOBODY. The prototype that was dyno’d 6 months ago has been changed a number of times since.
  6. HOW can the new mufflers flow better than SEBRING??? Anyone who knows Sebring mufflers knows they aer perforated core, straight through. Not baffled all to hell…how can you flow better ???

I would love to hear any answers to those questions.

^^^ Man sakimano, that is some damn fine investigating. There is no way this exhaust is going to wrinkle or warp, I don’t care how long it’s on my car. My bet is the guy that bought his old exhaust is going to say it’s in perfect condition too. You’d have to get rear ended or flat out drive straight into a wall backwards to warp or wrinkle this exhaust.

do you have one?

i have one in the basement and i know paul has one in the garage and these are not wrinkled. but mine looks new and was only used about 2,000 miles in good weather.

i think the sebring cans are fine. not sure if they were made in china but who cares china does actually make good products now a days.

Yes, the exhaust (JHM) that I was thinking about buying also looks just fine. As I mentioned earlier, there aer HUNDREDS of Sebring muifflers on B6/7 S4s out there, and NOBODY has complained about this.

My own B7 S4 had Sebring mufflers on my Fast Intentions exhaust for 2 years and 30,000 miles, and they literally looked like new when I was selling the car. I honestly have no idea where he is coming from other than just flat out lying to help promote ebwerks (by attempting to hurt JHM).

To Ben’s credit, I am sure they have a great part but when you really get down to brass tax, Ben is a 19 year old kid with zero engineering qualifications and certainly doesn’t have FOrd SVT and Roush at his disposal. He has software that he ripped from a torrent site. Not saying that’s bad, but honestly, I can’t see any reason to abandon a PROVEN JHM exhaust for an upstart. I am sure some of the quattroworld guys will buy it just because it’s:

a) the JHM formula for success which has been proven to deliver results (2.75, shallow X high up)
b) not sold by JHM as it’s a fucking hatefest over there
c) not $5,000 like the MTM which is the only other real 2.75" option

All the power to them, and hopefully it becomes a nice option for RS4 guys. I just don’t understand the lying about JHM by Mick. Let the eb product speak for itself, and shut your fat fucking pie hole!

Lol. I’m pretty sure Ben and Enrique are saying the same thing right now.

i agree i have heard others that have RS4 that had S4 FI Exhaust that had Sebring Mufflers and they just told me today that the mufflers are high quality and when he took them off his car they were like new as well.

BenriqueWerks exhaust does look nice it obviously has gone through some changes since the first prototype. I am pretty sure the JHM/FI on that is due out with look great too. Can not wait to see the prices on both of them and the performance results.

I honestly dont like the guys name Enrique…not sure why. That is why I call it Benrique because that guy annoyed me.

Lol he’s a young kid who is living the dream on his dad’s dime. Two kids actually.

Won’t be long before they figure that dealing in exhausts is a kind of shitty business.

Labor and parts are cost intensive…products are big and bulky and a nightmare to ship. If you want to make a nice product at a nice price and make a nice margin, you get grey hair prematurely.

Yeah I do have one. For those of us who own this exhaust, the quality is obviously there. I have no complaints and I haven’t seen any.

looks awesome, I like the J-pipe O2 spacers on the downpipes and on the muffler hanger is that a screw on stop? looks like little hex screws there to clamp the end on, interesting setup (always hated trying to put my milltek mufflers on, the hanger ends were so oversized)
