Recent tests between GIAC stage 1 and APR stage 2 on our track -vag com and vbox

I guess they really are picking up steam past 60, I would love to compare slips and see

Kai 60-120 best was 7.07 secs. Think my best was 8.72 secs.

I’ll post up his slips when he sends em over.

I would love to see what 81 or prime could do same day same place as Kai. That will really shed some light

in quarter? that’ll be tough.

60-130… well I think my car is pretty up there in times and from vag logs we have seen. I also think the manual tranny has an advantage doing 60-130 times. Granted I have never run quarter mile… but the car does move when rolling. I can’t see them being that much better on race gas in 60-130. DA summer vs winter times is prob a 0.4 sec difference on our track/elevation.

i know it will be nearly impossible for that meeting to happen. it would be great to really see what each platform is capable of. would be really fun and tell us alot about each setup

^^ +1. It was fun watching the Tial B5 vs jspazz:

In the spring I’ll get Saki to put the pbox in my car during a few 1/4 mile runs and report back.

tsivas27 - you need to get to the strip so we can see what times/trap speed you put down cause I’m terrible with interpreting the vagcom files. lol!

P.s. bring Auditude with you so we can get a complete picture.

send em to jspazz… he is the log interpretation master.

Okay (for fun) I compared by MPH on race gas to the Tial B5 (which I know has done better ET’s not sure about trap) and to me (again different weather conditions same track) it looks as though I pickup on him on the big end.

B5:

1/8 - MPH - 93.19
1/4 - MPH - 118.40
Net - MPH - 25.21

81bear:

1/8 - MPH - 91.97
1/4 - MPH - 119.60
Net - MPH - 27.63

so 81, did you car and that tial car run at the same track same day?

yes but my setup was quite a bit different (old version tune, different map, different octane, no CPS unit (this may actually be a bonus) ;))

Run 1
1/8 - MPH - 89.77
1/4 - MPH - 113.35
Net - MPH - 23.58

Run 2
1/8 - MPH - 88.37
1/4 - MPH - 112.18
Net - MPH - 23.81

I think the tune version and map i.e. race vs pump is a huge factor in the (B5 vs PT B8 comparison) as we see timing on the APR pump map is sacrificed for boost. With the race map I believe APR is taking advantage of both boost and timing and as such is more relevant as that is what PT is running 24/7.
lwhat if in the same DA prime goes 120-121? considering his car is much more consistent than kai’s it is a possibility. at that point if kai ever did trap 122, you are at a 1 mph advantage for kai
What if?
What if Primetime’s track was flat? What if we gave Kai a 17 foot ramp to drive down at the start…think that might give him some momentum and get him up to speed faster? Let’s not bother playing what if.

Yes, sometimes a worse 60 foot = a faster trap. However I only mentioned his 60 foot times because you said…

The guys on Saturday were complaining about conditions. That’s easy to see when a 500 hp Audi is cutting 2 second 60’ times.

I was just quoting Kai’s trap speeds that he posted on Audizine. He started a thread. All info is there.

Here…horse’s mouth.
This past weekend was ER’s (exoticsrally.com) Turkey Run. This year it was held at Englishtown raceway, pretty much rented out the entire track and it was ours from 10AM till 5PM. First half of the day was a roll racing competition, second half everyone did 1/4 runs with the tree. I was originally going to take my Gallardo to get baseline times etc. before we tear it apart for a TT build but last minute change of plans led me to take my B5 S4. I switched to the ASP (Autospeed) race map using my Iphone/Ipod touch put in some MS 109 in the tank and trailered the car to the event (just in case I broke an axle or something else).

The car ran very well all day, must’ve done 20+ passes. Here’s some video of the roll racing action between various cars that attended. (There were many 1000+HP cars there from Porsches to GTRs etc.)

Mod list: K04’s(22-23psi) 60lb injectors ER IC’s W/ Shrouds ASP Tune On Race File With MS109 In Tank CM Stage 4 Clutch & LWFW No Spare/Tools Full Interior Enkei NT03 Wheels (18-19lbs each) Alcon BBK H&R Coilovers JHM Transmission W/ Shifter + Linkage RS4 Engine Mounts 034 Tranny Mounts ASP DTS Apikol Rear Diff Mount That’s All I can remember lol there are probably more but nothing to affect how fast the car is.

Unfortunately my GoPro battery died when we started doing the 1/4 mile runs later in the afternoon therefore none of those are on video except one run (in the end againts a ESS Supercharged M3). Best 1/4 run of the day was a 12.0 @ 121MPH, 60’ times were very poor due to track conditions (1.9-2.0 all day), the car had mid 11’s in it for sure.

Here are some videos, enjoy!

the horse rounded his trap up. tsivas gave his exact time. i learned in elementary school that anything under 5, you round back to zero. so 120.22 is closer to 120. PT is at 119. 81 is at 119 (ill give you the beinefficientit of the doubt and wont round up even though it is closer to 120) so that extra 10 mph, in order to get to 130, should it really take the b8 3 seconds to get there when 81 just showed us his car actually is faster than a tial car past the 1/8? thats what im talking about of what i dont “get”

im sure the pbox is great, but something is off

englishtown is usually better. it is still a sea level track. im guessing since it has been so called and the end of the season that track prep hasnt been the best

why does it change be ne fit to benefit?

on vbox my data…
100-130 time…5.58 secs
117-130 time is 2.65 secs.
120-130 time is 2.04 secs

Kai… B5 S4 Smurf
100-130 time 4.66 secs
117-130 time 2.29 secs
120-130 time 1.81 secs

For shits and giggles… his 2004 Lambo Gallardo

100-130 5.47s
120-130 1.85s

Prime’s best on my vbox (from 5/2013? run @ track)
from data below…

60-100 4.86s
60-120 8.62s
60-130 11.06s

100-130 6.2secs
120-130 2.44s

Ya the truck spraying the trackbite broke down @ etown that day. Prep was awful that day. And I heard they weren’t too happy having all these 1000+ whp cars running all day with no cages. They wanted to end day early and found every excuse to do so. The twin turbo vette breaking down was perfect out for them.

sizeable difference there. if we can get them to run same place, same day, same gas, it would be interesting to see

i tried renting the track last year for my b6 and they asked me if there were any gtr’s coming along and i made the mistake of saying yes. the guy hung up the phone on me and then when i called back he said they are too fast and dont like when they run on track rental days.

its pretty stupid, cars are getting faster, thats the way it is. i think its ridiculous that you need a cage for a 10.99 or better car. stock 2012 gt’r do that and a lot of cars now with small mods get there. i agree it should be required for the guys in the stripped out civics doing it since they are tin cans but they really need to make some exceptions

Esp when you consider that same GTR can legally go from 0-150 when joining the autobahn. It’s funny watching everyone in Audi sedans and wagons at the strip wearing helmets… when 5 mins later they’re doing similar speeds on the roads lol

It is actually cage at 11.49. lame.

Also 91 why are you so fixated on prime times drag strip info when we are talking about pbox? You should focus on his pbox runs. You can then figure out da when prime time did his pbox run… And I guarantee it was not 200 feet. I have more like 1000 - 1200. When kai did pbox it was like - 1800.
