The 93 tune doesn’t like race gas on your car it seems. You go slower on race than on pump. Too much octane. Stick with 93 or 94 until you get program switching (which should be never lol).

When you run 93 are you seeing a bunch of timing being pulled? The way APR tunes cars (not pushing the limit) I would surmise that in decent conditions on good pump gas, you aren’t seeing much of anything pulled. To that end, I don’t think you’re going to get any beit out of race gas. Now at DA +1100 feet, maybe a little but I would mix some race in with pump, rather than going full on race fuel.

Seems to be the case. I wish APR would just release the damn thing so I could actually take advantage of easily available pump 100. From now on, I’m going to just stick with Shell 93 and hope that APR actually lives up to their “promise” and releases program switching for the A6.

Very little timing pulled on the 93 logs… barely less on the 100 from what I can tell. I sent them to Ron so I’m going to see what he says. I understand the basics but I haven’t looked at nearly as many logs as most of the guys on here so I don’t know what is considered a deviation from normal behavior.

^^^they have been doing the same thing to B7 Rs4 owners regarding program switching for over 3 years…so if you’re holding your breath, I would exhale and embrace the APR 93 2 tune…because I think that’s all you’re getting.

No breath holding here. Just bothers me that I know I could beat out a 12.6 on race but I may never get that opportunity. GIAC offers switching for the A6… almost tempts me to switch but makes no financial sense. However, if GIAC offered a TCU tune, my inhibitions may disappear.

Maybe the A6 & RS4 switching are coming in 2 weeks?

meh, the TCU tune on the B8 S4 doesn’t seem to be lighting the world on fire. Going to slightly quicker shifts and a more aggressive launch isn’t going to change your life. Factor in the cost of switching at this point…you may as well spend the $2,000 on a weekend in Vegas, including some gambling and a very nice looking date. You’d smile more than you would knowing you could launch and cut a 1 tenth better 60’.

Also, running race gas isn’t so important in the real world. If you’re trying to set a time at the strip, that’s sporting, but personally I wouldn’t really care much about a race gas time. You’re not likely to run race gas while DDing your 191 inch long A6 sedan. Hardly seems important enough to worry about.

Keep in mind that the A6 shifts at 6600, tops. TCU tune could unlock some of those extra revs.

The 100 tune would only be used at the track. Now that I’ve gone, I’m hooked and I want to improve on my times.

I don’t think I would ever go Stage 3 with the A6 unless I somehow fell into some serious spending cash. Since that wont happen, the major big bucks will go towards a a C7 S6 someday.

good point. You’re probably giving up a little bit there. Again though, I don’t think the 3.0T is any sort of dog down low. So it’s probably not as much as it sounds

I’ve asked someone to do a pass at the strip shifting a B8 S4 at 7000 and then make a followup pass shifting at 6500 to see the difference. I reckon it’s pretty minor.

Agreed. I’m not planning to pick up anything significant with a TCU tune if it ever comes to fruition. However, it would definitely help with my traps. My car likes to shift to 4th about 200 feet from the clocks. Would love to finish it in 3rd.

If you look at dblearons slips from yesterday, one of them was against a C6 Corvette that shut down mid run. ET was something like 12.1… mph was 92

He was just in awe about how good looking my car was!

The tcu tune makes a HUGE difference if only at the redline increase, changing from 6k to 7k is a noticeable diff.

If I make it back out to the strip again I will shift at 6200 and see what the times look like.
