REVOLUTIONARY RESULTS - Dragstrip database update notification thread

It’s a tough one for the UK tracks. What’s more certified…a UK track with ‘MSA’ certification at a runway airstrip (not sure if that exists, but it certainly might at CRAIL or somewhere)? Or a Chicago area based track that was IHRA certified but no longer pays for the certification designation (don’t forget we held off a ‘record’ B8 S4 time because it wasn’t NHRA/IHRA).

Hence the reason for the delay on Graham’s time.

Badtoyz, I can certainly add you. I reckoned you’d be going again soon in better weather so I held off. Up to you.

Overall, the certification thing…MSA doesn’t appear to be a certification. Just a ‘governing body’ but I don’t see that anyone has an ‘MSA CERTIFIED’ stamp, do they>

What do you guys think?

You quote Santa Pod in your opening post as an example. No more certified than Shakespeare Raceway to my knowledge. I think you should accept the time or rather regrettably make your table US only.

Santa Pod used to be certified like our tracks, that was the point bangoman (from the UK) made above.

At the end of the day, this is not my list. This is our list (all members, and whoever wants to visit the site). If people think we should include certified international tracks where it’s a permanent dragstrip with proper timing setups and the same standards, that’s what we’ll do. If it’s a movable tree plopped in the middle of the straightaway at a roadcourse just for a dragstrip day, that’s not going to count.

Last time there was an issue (the aforementioned B8 S4 at the track that was no longer IHRA certified) the site majority voted to exclude the time. The owner went to a certified track and ran the fastest time anyway, so there was a moral victory for him there. It felt bad not including his other time.

That sounds fair. Shakespeare is very much a permanent arrangement (hence pic with tree in shot, sound barrier wall etc). Let me know the call.

If the members won’t allow Shakespeare, let me know if Santa Pod is still OK and maybe I might do a few runs there one day.

Vote here for how we should handle the European and International results…

ya im cool with waiting im def going back out I know 12.40 is possible or better. im hoping yourself, mistro, bangoman and the rest of the gta guys will come too.

Is the database being maintained or not?

It takes the old boy a little while to update it. The track website is good http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.com/ and it is MSA certified. However to quote post #1:
non-certified dragstrips will also not be added. Basically only results from a proper dragstrip with standardized/certified timing systems will be included.
I always thought that meant IHRA/NHRA certified. It seems the MSA is a new regulatory body in the UK with regards to the drag racing world. I got this from the Santa Pod website: http://www.santapod.co.uk/dr_msa.php
In 2007, UK drag racing entered a new era when the Motor Sports Association, the national governing body of four-wheeled motorsport, designated the spectacular Pro Modifieds as the official class of the MSA British Drag Racing Championship.
The MSA is in turn a member of the FIA. From http://www.msauk.org/custom/asp/home/default.asp :
The Motor Sports Association (MSA) is recognised as the sole motor sport governing body for the United Kingdom by the world governing body, the Federation Internationale de L’Automobile (FIA).
The IHRA no longer seems to list anywhere in Europe: http://www.ihra.com/ihra-tracks/tracks . IIRC I think that Santa Pod was at one point IHRA certified. The NHRA is North America only.

Santa Pod seems to be the only location for the UK MSA drag racing championships at present: http://www.msadragracing.co.uk/rounds.php

The summary of my rambling is that I thought Shakespeare wasn’t a certified dragstrip but it seems to be under the auspices (indirectly) of the FIA, rather than NHRA or IHRA and that the MSA seems to be equivalent in the UK. I guess it didn’t make sense for Santa Pod’s regulatory body being 5 time zones away…

Car ran very consistent. Very happy with tune. No issues. Only issue was bunch of runs 1st to 2nd gear hung up which cost me 1.5 to 2 tenths. I did not include those runs.

Those are great times. Is summit nhra/ihra ?

Not sure. Ronnie might know. It was my first time there. My guess would be NHRA.

You went out to beat on some Evos? lol

Great runs

I thought about going to the shootout with a buddy of mine, but the crowd is pretty young and DSMs have always been a hackmod type of car (I had a 1G when I was younger). You rarely see one that is done right IMO. They kind of remind me of B5s with all of the “self-tuners” and ebay parts. They usually sit in yards more than they drive on the street and the recipe to go fast is incredibly easy. The 4G63 was a great engine, but a bad group of owners can make it look very unreliable.

Who cares about the other guys. Run what you bring. Key word YOU.

You’re just scared.

AK, As I’ve already mentioned great results!

Saki, Yes, it’s the old Norwalk that was purchased by Summit 5 or so years ago and it’s NHRA…
