Well I did run faster than any other stock RS4 has other than myself… 12.83. i left a good half tenth on the table. Forgot to experiment with tire pressure. 81 and jspazz were going to show me the ropes but they were to busy being b8 guys away from the v8 guys lol.

. Also had the fastest stock mph of anyone at 109.something

LW rotors - maintenance item really since we all need rotors
LW flywheel and a good strong clutch (he was mentioning it was acting up a hair early in the day, but resolved itself

That would shave about 30 pounds of rotating weight. Pretty big difference and would likley give him a lot more jump in the first 330 feet (gears 1 and 2 really), and a grabbier launch strategy with the stronger clutch.

Just shows as beemercer said when you get decent driving and some good conditions, and even a few decent mods, the RS4 REALLY breaks out.

So much for ‘the 4.2 doesn’t respond to mods’. That MPH mistro just ran on pump gas is as good as just about any B8 S4 with a full $8,000 suite of mods…but he did it for a total of:

spacers - $160
ECS hpipe - $250 (not even sure it’s doing anything)
piggies - $free…he did them in his garage

So he has spent a monstrous $410 lol.

you guys need to stop running good rs4 times before my temptation overcomes my better judgement and I trade in my Jeep and take my home downpayment and get an RS4 lol

I think a precat piggie, stg 4 clutch/lwfw, jhm 93 tune, intake spacers, lw wheels rs4 would be perfect for me… >_>

^^^that has been my plan for a long time. I have purchased someone’s JHM full exhaust though (catted), so those plans may…change. I won’t be installing it in any rush since I still have a warranty.

as for the lightweight wheels, the RS4 wheels are

a) classic and great looking
b) reasonably light at 26 lbs or so

Considering you need something 9" and likely 19" to cover the calipers…and considering things like the HRE wheels which look great but are $4,000 and are only about 4lbs per wheel lighter…well I will stick with the stockers.

Don’t forget the $20 he spent on lumber for the ramps.

I can’t remember where I mentioned it, but one of the bulbs was out on the giant clock for the left lane (scoreboard). So a 6 looked like an 8 on the tenths number. I ran 12.68 and my phone started blowing up with texts from the other guys…NEW RECORD 12.68!!! But it was a 12.88 :slight_smile:

Actually MISTRO…you filmed that run between George and I. Can you load it up to youtube? He went 12.87 and I went 12.88. It was his best ET of the day.

I watched the vid on here (AR) earlier. I heard someone recording with your phone say something like (12.68…I mean 12.88) I figured it was due to the distance and his eye sight was playing tricks on him.

Hey…Axel is the fastest B6/7 Avant now, even with his car only getting 1/3 of a day in to run.

I swear that thing can go 12.40 @ 114.

I was planning to get the JHM tune as my next mod once it came out again, but it would be interesting to see what it could do without a tune. That CEL is a bit annoying but I guess I could live with it or try throwing on some antifoulers on the sensors.

Definitely plan on getting LWFW but I will bundle that in with a stage 4 clutch whenever the stock one craps out on me.

Had a bit of a scare yesterday when I launched and the clutch fully let go when I shifted to 2nd gear. It wouldn’t hold at all and was just revving up and down somewhat freely. Smelt pretty horrible. It was perfectly fine after an hour of cooling off though.

Is the LWCP still available? I couldn’t find it on their site.

I will be needing new rotors for my next brake job, but I read somewhere that the JHM rotors aren’t that great for track duty? I don’t track that often… Just open lapping events maybe 4 times a summer or so. I had been planning to just get OEM replacements.

I have no clue when I will be able to get around to all this though. Been trying to save up for a wedding :wink:

I’m starting to wonder if the carbon cleaning is factoring in as well. I didn’t get a chance to run with Saki this time, but the previous time out it seemed like it was pulling pretty hard on him in 4th gear. Maybe it’s responsible for adding those couple extra mph?

Also, I’m guessing a bit of the delta is also me learning how to drive the car better. I still remember last time out when I found out I should try shifting at 7800 lol. I think my shifts have gotten quite a bit better too since my first time out.

I’ve just had such good luck with lw wheels its hard to not look to save 8lbs per corner. iirc some 18" wheels will clear the calipers, wish my ssr’s would clear the brakes. I see 18"x8.5" ssr comps pop up from time to time, so I’d give them a shot and sell my 17’s finally

Yeah, the TDR Pro Race 1.2 wheels are 18x9 or something and clear the brakes. Ugly as sin though.

There’s a set in the classifieds here…for a BARGAIN.

The exhaust is one of the beta ones.

yeah, I think definitely the carbon clean is helping you. I mean shit we know it robs a non-clean car of some HP…the debate was how much…i.e. enough to be a massive gamechanger?

The thing is, driving the car well before and after, driving it the same way, in the same conditions, you had limited delta. Further, my car was faster before, and faster after you cleaned…and again, I had limited delta.

The delta showed up a month later, when we went again. You had lowered your car. So either:

a) carbon cleaning results won’t be noticed until a few weeks of adaptation. This doesn’t seem right because everyone talks about it being ‘a new car’ right after they get it done…and the delta shows up immediately in the dyno. So I think we can rule that out.
b) lowering your car helped it put power down better, whether that was helping you launch and hold speed through shifts with less body bounce, or whether it was an aerodynamic advantage… I don’t know. Too technical for me. Ask jspazz to model that maybe?
c) something else we’re missing

This week you had piggies, so that explains a chunk of delta yesterday which was 0.36 seconds your best ET vs. mine (12.83 vs 12.47) and 3.9 MPH your best MPH vs. mine (109.9 vs 113.8)

That would indicate you’ve got about the equivalent of 40 hp on me…which could certainly be true with carbon cleaning and piggies, and the intake temp help from the JHM spacers…and the aero advantage from being a bit sleeker. Tough to really say though.

hmm yeah those are interesting looking, if the spokes came up to the outer lip and they didnt have the lettering I think I’d like them. Good sign they fit though.

any chance you’ll do dp only, catback only and fullback logs? lots of extra work but the data would be useful to see/provide some talking points.

There’s a chance…for sure.

In all likelihood, I won’t do the actual installing and will pay someone to do so…and the neckdown on stock downpipes to 2.36" vs. the 2.75" JHM catback means that would be a big job to actually mate, then cut out, or have leaks etc…so it’s more of a Lloyd Christmas chance :D.
