haha I don’t understand them either. Basically to me it’s like Napster…however rather than one place that allows you to download a song from one person, you use a search engine for a torrent file, then use a downloader to get the file. The downloader gets the file from not one, but potentially hundreds of people who hold it. I think it’s a legal workaround but it is also a much better way to download stuff because you’re not downloading from one guy who may limit his upload speed, or who may cut you off out of the blue.
if you have a mac, download TRANSMISSION as your torrent downloader. You can go to any of the search engines. Isohunt and another one I forget worked really well for me. Then you copy the torrent address and load it into Transmission to begin the download.
Get the tech-sharp guy at your work to show you…he’ll do a way better job than me.
Thanks - I did all of this last night. Have ETKA on my machine (PC). Now all I have to do is follow the instructions to install the updates etc. If I have time later I’ll attempt it.
My tech guys are already overpaid, I need them to keep working on my clients’ needs so they earn their keep ;D. It’s one of those things I can admit here but not to my employees lol.
The dealer finally got the two last parts of the PCV system in that I requested they try as a last ditch effort. Guess what…it worked. That check valve on the back of the engine that is right below the I/M was indeed faulty and was basically flowing oil right into my intake manifold.
I drove the car for over an hour today testing whether or not there would be a lingering smoke issue - nada. The fact that it took this long to rectify the issue had me doubting the PCV components were really the culprit. I kept asking them if they replaced ALL the PCV components and the response was always yes. Then I asked for a list of part#'s…wouldn’t you know they left out two parts every time. And in the end it was one of those parts that was the issue. SOB!!! lol.
I’m so relieved the issue is finally done, I finally have my car back to normal.
Thanks for all the help and support with this thread, helped keep me sane.
I hear ya, the small things…lol. That fugg’n valve, well it’s fixed now so I’m happy.
Have the tune - need to flash it back on the car.
Have the full catless 2.75" exhaust…need to install it.
Have the LW rotors front and back.
Have the intake spacers, need to install them.
Trying to buy the LW crank pulley and will also throw in the Stage IV clutch and LW Flywheel during their sale.
Sdould be in good shape at that point…for a little while. 8)
Thanks - what will be awesome is when I get the stuff on the car, lol.
True - remind me of the fastest modded all motor 1/4 time…is it George or Dan who currently holds it? Also remind me of your fastest stock time. ;D I have some goals for 2012 lol.
Glad to see it worked for you. Even happier to hear about go faster parts.
The comparison to the 4.2L R8 is interesting. The fastest 4.2 R8 1/4 mile time I can find (admittedly by just typing that into Google) is a VF (whom we love greatly lol) supercharged 2009 vintage with 12.397 @ 116.540. Is there a faster one around? If not then that certainly puts the achievements of George’s RS4 and JHM’s baby carrier S4 into another level of sheer brilliance. RS4 > S4 > R8 in the 4.2 world. Edit: plus wikipedia quotes a 12.5 sec time for a stock 4.2 R8.
Cool - he should send one of those (ahem, cough cough 5.2) to either Underground Racing or Heffner. Two big snails on that machine is a bowl of fun and then some.
