B5 guys… ^^^these two RS4 owners should definitely be made honorary B5 members.
They’re talking about running their cars and telling everyone to go to the strip…meanwhile both of these fuckers have their shit up on jack stands with no transmission in right now lol
Do the RS4’s have trans problems often? I always find myself browsing the b7 rs4 market and just can’t quite talk myself into it… even though they are one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever seen.
no, one guy is installing a JHM stage 1 supercharger, so he needs a new clutch. He’s installing his supercharger at home and is installing a JHM Stage 5r clutch at the same time.
the other guy had something like 70,000 miles on his stock clutch and it gave up on him. He is installing a JHM stage 3r clutch in his garage.
Transmission is fantastic on the RS4. Some guys experience 3rd gear synchro issues, but it’s really not worth discussing. The stock clutch is very strong however the stock pressure plate can be a bit of a pain on some cars as the clutch pedal gets sticky under certain situations (revving to 7000 RPM with clutch pedal depressed sounds great, but your PP freaks out and pedal will stick). Same for a bad high RPM slipped gear change…sticky pedal. The JHM ‘R’ series clutches (1R, 3R, 5R) all replace the stock Rs4 pressure plate and its poor design.
If you go supercharged, you should likely upgrade. Otherwise, stock is pretty solid. I’ve made more dragstrip passes on my car than any other RS4 owner on earth other than Dan @ JHM, and a bunch of other spirited driving and my clutch is rock solid at 62,000 miles.
as the mileage keeps going up on more rs4s im finding more and more threads of ppls clutchs usually failing right around the 100k mark give or take. 100k miles on an oem clutch in a car that most of us drive “spiritedly” I think is more than acceptable. it is a 4000 pound awd drive car after all.
the selff adjusting and dual mass flywheel can be an issue. my clutch is slipping now when it gets hot and it has 95k miles on it.
swags clutch catastrophically failed at the drag strip. the friction material blew apart, but I have not seen that happen to many ppl.
It’s definitely not the driver’s fault (skill or no skill). It’s like badtoyz said - its a 4000lb awd car… everything is bound to explode at some point
Response from PRP…hopefully I get a response with details from Greg.
Hello Stephen
Thank you for your interest in our facility. We do offer private track rentals as well as the test and tune. The owner, Greg Miller handles the fees so I’ll forward your email to his private email as well. Thank you again and have a happy holiday.

Who’s coming out May 29th? It would be nice to see some s/c cars as well.
FRIDAY: (6:30pm to Midnight)
Friday’s event will be a test and tune session that night at Pittsburgh Raceway Park located at 538 Stone Jug Road - New Alexandria, PA 15670. The event will be testing and tuning and the best ET and fastest MPH will be noted. There will be cameras galore, but bring your own if you want. This event will be subject to change as we do not have the track rented out and are just attending the standard test and tune session. Gates open at 5:30 pm and racing starts at 6:30 pm. Bring your spare O1E trans if you are going for that quickest ET.
