^Yea, “replacement cost” of [I}your[/] vehicle is such a small part of it nowadays. You could still slam into a rolls royce with your jeep and leave someone with a rack of medical bills. That pales in comparison to cost to replace your jeep lol. So doing the same thing in the Golf R really doesn’t change much, you just might be able to do it a little faster now.
Insurance for me being a 26 year old male was 250-280 a month for the RS4 and 160-180 for the S3. If i insure my gf as the main driver it reduces by 20-30 on each car.
Depreciation is not that big of a worry for me, this isnt going to be a 3 year love affair. And the car market in OZ is well just fucked, everything is weirdly priced.
I try to book on a travel rewards card that includes some great insurance for stuff like this.
Coming back from Europe, I had a transfer in Newfoundland at St. Johns that went pear shaped. Basically in the 2 hrs we were waiting to switch planes, fog rolled in and shut the airport down. Got stuck there till the next day, and fortunately kept all receipts because a friend suggested to me that my card may cover the costs. They did. Hotel, food, taxi to/from airport = $300, all covered.
I was United Platinum for years. Many miles on Delta as well.
I have all the typical road warrior stories, and I understand that shit happens.
What burns me up is when the airline withholds information that I could have used to re-route my trip, or at least better plan my day. Like Southwest last Saturday.
Interesting. Not sure I’ve seen it ‘confirmed’ anywhere what the next generation RS4 will do, but good to see the 4.2 FSI will still be in the Audi lineup in the R8
No turbo in the R8 makes sense…they burnt to the ground when they tried to use the C6 RS6 V10T in the R8 prototypes years ago
"Following confirmation that the next-generation Audi RS4 would ditch the current car’s naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 engine, many were left concerned about whether the same engine fitted in the Audi R8 could face a similar fate and head down the forced induction route. However, Car and Driver can confirm that the next-generation Audi R8 currently in development will in fact maintain its base 4.2-liter V8 and not come turbocharged.
As it stands, this powertrain delivers 430 hp in 2014 Audi R8 V8 spec and is likely to receive some extra power for the latest R8 iteration. The possibility of the latest R8 being available with the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine from the RS7 has also been ruled out, with it reportedly too difficult to cool when mid-mounted. Additionally, a turbocharged engine would reduce the German supercar’s throttle response and drastically reduce the current car’s screaming exhaust note."
The first line is funny. 'Many were left concerned" that Audi would eliminate the 4.2. Everyone except people who like to buy their hp in aftermarket tunes for smaller displacement FI cars. The people who buy these cars new I’m sure are just fine with NA.
I’m not sure where this goes; it does not necessarily belong in the war room nor does it fit in the LULz thread so I’ll put it here. I posted a sales ad of my CATLESS piggie pipes a few days ago and badblueRS4 posts this:
Sorry bro, these are fully catless downpipes. Piggies mean only the precat is gutted.
to which I reply:
They are OEM downpipes gutted at both the pre-cats and main cats therefore they are “catless” piggies.
I currently have “catless” downpipes on my Avant because the pre-cats are gutted and there are no cats on the down pipe piping that connects to my catback.
Just for my own education and sanity, am I wrong in my assessment of WHAT a piggie pipe is versus a down pipe?
