I think it’s more of what the rifle likes vs what it doesn’t like as much (given the barrel length and rifling). Which is why I bought 2 boxes of each ammo type - to see which it likes and also be able to practice with it ahead of the season.
When I’m set on which I want to use, I’ll pick up a few more boxes of them and call it good for a few seasons.
My scope is zeroed in for PPU .308 145gr ammo (in bulk packs) - it seems to REALLY like PPU ball ammo (but less so the hunting rounds - as we can see above). More so than the Federal American Eagle (not as tight when I was shooting using the iron sights). Shoots real tight for a 16 inch barrel carbine - that isn’t really meant to be MOA/sub-MOA since it’s a ‘battle rifle’ (though I’m sure I can make it even tighter with practice - maybe a trigger upgrade too).
So as long as I’m confident in where the Point of Impact is in relation to that zero (for example, it looks like the Hornady American Whitetail hits low (1cm)and to the right (1.5-2cm)) - I can set my scope accordingly before I head out.
My buddy (who I’ll be hunting with) put 3 shots in two holes at 100 yards through his Tikka T3 hunting rifle.
There are more quirks that I want to make sure I get a grasp on. Last time I hit the range, I thought I was zeroing into the target when suddenly the rifle started hitting high and to the right. I thought it was heat, but when I shot again on Sunday, it again hit high and right.
It could be fouling in the barrel. I resisted the urge to clean the rifle when I got home from last last weekend (I always clean my firearms after use). I cleaned the rifle when I got home on Sunday so I’ll see how it shoots next time I hit the range. I also want to see if I unmount the optic and re-mount it if there’s a change in zero (I’m expecting there not to be since it’s a quality quick detach mount).
It’s often a topic of discussion when I meet up with american forum folk. A couple had small guns for the underseat flip out storage spot on the B6 and B7 cars. Not a derringer or anything gay, but a compact gun. Modern. Looked about 80% of the size of a Glock.
Wish I could remember what it was. I thought it was funny. And typically american.
LOL! What happens at the dragstrip? Claim the extra weight in the stats? give it to their friend?
What happens when tech finds a gun in your car at your lapping day? is it even in the tech rules in the states?
Frick - how do they go to work? leave it in the car? carry at their desk?
Are there certain scenarios where you might or might not carry in the car - it becomes part of your decision tree when you leave the house? First date - no carry. Audi meet - Carry!
I’m still amazed. And i feel vulnerable when I leave my phone at home (although mostly because my wife may read the texts lol)
I’ve stored a baby glock there on a few occasions when I had one. It’s funny how you guys worry about what people do with their guns throughout their day. Here in the south it’s as common as people wearing their cell phones on their hip.
Concealed and especially open carry seemed to go up significantly after Obama was elected (that’s how bad ignorance is here in the south). I see plenty of folks come into my work carrying. I have a friend who owns a garbage company and he now wears one when he’s out on the truck, however that part makes sense for him in his business What I don’t understand is when I come over to his house at 8:30 he is STILL wearing it on his hip.
So to answer your questions (at least for the south)
