Haha great summary for my understanding. None of us north of the border understand…but I’ll think twice next time I’m in FL and not happy with someone’s driving
Home carry is something that I do agree with (well, at least having something nearby - having stuff on your hip makes slouching on the couch harder lol ).
I don’t carry most of the time (work doesn’t allow it on their property - and that includes the parking garage).
But I do if I’m out in the woods.
I do CC (have a permit) when I go out as well but need to plan out my day first (if I go into “gun free zones” or any “Federal Buildings” - like while hiking and I want to go into a Visitor Center, I can’t be ‘packing’ or if I’m going to stop by the post office). I personally don’t like the idea of leaving firearms in the car for extended periods of time - especially in the passenger cabin. If I really have to, it’ll be unloaded and in a locked container (but it is a small plastic container - so still not ‘secure’). But it’s a hassle and handling firearms in the back of your car attracts attention (opposite of what I want - LOL given I do drive a loud and bright blue two door Audi).
I also live in an ‘unincorporated’ area and not sure how quickly the sheriff would be able to reach me if needed.
And being honest with myself, if I ever am confronted with any situation, walking away (and calling 911) will always be the way of dealing things. If all else fails, knowing full well, if I am ever ‘forced’ to ‘draw’, it will be a life altering moment. And that’s a decision not to be made lightly… There has been multiple ‘fearful’ situations (road rage, threatened by individuals randomly, shoved, etc), that I never even thought about reaching back - because I knew I could walk away without an ego - and more importantly, everyone can go back to their homes and life goes on as usual.
I think I’ve only motioned to reach back once when three religious weirdos came real close (after saying that I’ve been “saved 2000 years ago” and “praying for my soul - loudly and publicly too lol” - funny how the “can you help show me where this place is at” question can lead to) and that was only after two of them suddenly reached out for my shoulders and the third one quickly stepped right up to me while reaching into his big fanny pack with one arm. I took a step back and swiped their hands with my right hand held behind me and I said to them firm but politely ‘Nope, we’re done. I don’t appreciate being grabbed and I don’t want you to pull out whatever it is you’re going to in that bag’. But even then, I never brandished the firearm - not even reached under my shirt - just grazed the grip with my finger tips to know where it was and readied to see what happened next. (the three dudes slowly took a step back, wished me a pleasant day - which I wished the same to them, and they hurried off) It could have been a bible, it could have been something else and I hope they don’t try that on anyone else…
I try to be a responsible gun owner. (that and I love trying to shoot tight groups)
And another shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon today. Initial reports say at least 10 dead.
I know the USA is a large and highly populated country so naturally going to get more incidents but still…wtf…
I think Canada has had four school shootings since the late 70s.

It’s not the same…we don’t have their history of war. That’s usually one of the arguments. Meanwhile we do.
That fat guy hit the nail on the head. A culture of fear means everyone us always arming themselves. As a result guns are easily attainable, and are everywhere. This leads to arguments and fights that turn into shootings.
School shootings are different. Drop in the bucket. If they had one of these 10 dead shootings every week it wouldn’t move the needle on the number of gun murders in America every year. That would add 520…to the already 12,000 or so annual gun murders. Peanuts. School shootings are great for the anti gun lobby because people take notice. But incredibly, they’re not really a problem. Sounds funny to say. They are a problem, but the real magnitude of the school shooting problem is nothing in the big picture.
Reality?
It’s the street fights and domestic disputes that turn into shootings that are the issue. The gun toting criminals everyone fears are just icing on the cake. The number of gun murders between people who are not committing crimes and are known to each other is incredible.
That’s why I think guns are dangerous. Not the school shooters. Not the guy who might jack your car. You need to worry about your neighbours, your friends, and your family more, statistically.
if he truly believed in the beta uprising, I think we’ll find he killed a bunch of girls
maniac
this stuff ought to be moved to the shooting the shit thread, as there isn’t much lulz in a discussion about a planned mass murder

That’s very tragic…
And thanks mods, for moving to this thread.

No prob. Was on a flight all afternoon, so I had nothing better to do.
Btw - wifi fucking sucks on planes. The airlines need to upgrade their infrastructure.

lol
^^ haha that was pretty good. But my complaint stands the same
ironic
this is the sherriff in the county where the shootings happened today.
I know he’s retarded when he writes that ‘We must not allow the actions of criminals, no matter how heinous the crimes, prompt politicians to enact laws that restrict the liberties of law abiding americans’
By this rationale, there should be no law against anything as it would restrict the rights of ‘law abiding’ americans
i.e. if there was no law against driving the wrong way on the road, and a bunch of people crashed into other people (crashing is illegal), then his rationale would state that they should never enact a law against driving the wrong way, because it would infringe upon the rights of ‘law abiding’ americans who weren’t crashing into other people…it would restrict their right to drive the wrong way. Problem with this logic is that the right to ‘drive the wrong way’ is highly dangerous. Similar to the right to bear arms. .
There are dozens of comparisons. Murder? Naaah, make it legal and keep the laws out of it since law abiding americans shouldn’t have their rights restricted.
The problem is you have to work off of the lowest common denominator in these situations. And by these situations, I mean life. If you limit the number of firearms, you will limit the number of shootings. Since you’re limiting the number of shootings, you’re limiting the number of murders. It’s just simple. The gun is too effective for killing, so if you limit its availability, you limit its effectiveness. Sure people will still murder. They just won’t be as good at it.
The week of the Newtown shooting where a geek who couldn’t string a sentence together while looking you in teh eye was able to murder 26 people, a guy in China went on a stabbing rampage and killed nobody (stabbing sucks as a method of murdering). About 1 in 10 shooting victims dies. About 1 in 100 stabbing victims dies.
Anyway, i just thought this letter was ironic considering he wrote it to denounce any attempt at limiting gun availability/ownership and now he’s cleaning up a big ol mess of his own.

Shot with my work buddy’s black powder rifle the other day. It really smelled up the place
Pretty sweet stuff here. I have been collecting since I was 18, I have a big chunk of my collection on IG under my “contract_thrilla” handle.

I will have to upload more photos later, I don’t have much on my photo bucket account. My IG feed has a lot of gear though.
That’s awesome! I don’t think I’ve ever seen black powder shot indoors. lol!
@c0ntract_thrilla: That’s quite the collection! I also see some reloading gear as well, do you reload as well?
Some stuff has arrived for my latest acquisition (SIG MCX) that should be in this coming week.
Normal capacity Lancer L5AWM mags (I’ve always wanted translucent mags) and a trigger upgrade. Still figuring out what optic to put on it (leaning towards a Trijicon MRO).

Trying to be very sensitive to weight so planning on putting a light (Surefire X300 Ultra) and a small grip (BCM KAG) and calling it good
Yes I reload! Mostly 308 and 45. I buy Chinese pistol and rifle ammo in bulk (556/7.62x39 and 9mm/45) I reuse the brass, but 556 and 9 mm norinco is so cheap it’s not even worth reloading. I reloaded .308 strictly for long range, have done some .30 carbine for some friends and .300 wm/338 LM when I had those rifles
Nice!
I do want to try reloading some day (saving brass already) but I don’t have space for the equipment right now.
I shoot mainly in .308 and .45ACP but I also have 9MM (but I’ve sold the HK P30 - so not actively using that caliber now). I’ve been wanting an AR type rifle for a while so I have some 5.56 stocked up.
Wishlist for this year is a 6.5 Creedmoor custom build (so that I can try my hand at long range shooting - and also use it for hunting). Probably based off of a Tikka T3 action.
If you get a collapsible table you can make mounts for the gear and attach it to the folder table to save space . That’s what I did when I lived in a tiny apartment lol I just ran a Lee single stage press
If you’re just getting into long range, get a .308. With the amount of volume you need to shoot to develop skill, it’s both cheaper and easier to start with .308, also it is the standard for any long range competition, Palma is probably the most popular of the long range competitions and regs limit you to .308 with 155 gr ammo. If you’re really serious about performance without getting into a $5000 custom rifle action, the T3 sporter is a phenomenal rifle, pretty much comparable in accuracy to a Sako TRG, with the set trigger you really get a great out of the box shooter that will carry you to the limits of the cartridge. Another good option is 6.5 swede, a CG63 is a great way to get into long range. Don’t get me wrong 6.5 and the .260 are great but .308 will give you a lot more versatility per $$$ to get out there and develop experience and skill sets.
Also .308 is easy to reload, very easy to source reloading components and there is an infinite amount of recipes and data to develop the perfect load for your rifle.
Cool to see other shooters on here! I’m trolling your ig now, jealous of the SCAR, Obama blocked export so we can’t get it here in Canada
Nice!
