Switch from Revo to GIAC

I feel like a tuned B9 S4 is going to make 500+ lb/ft compared to the anemic 370 lb/ft the B8 makes.

Oh ya my bad. Very excited to see what you have been doing with apr Ron!

I’m running the ole spoof box on my car lol. I’m just curious if I can run some decent times with this setup before I get a proper tune from giac or 034. Currently running apr pulley with 194mm crank…

There are dual pulley q5s, a6/7 now. I think it’s going to be a good season for this motor in general with everyone pushing beyond the normal stage 2.

No 034 handheld yet- being told I’ll get an update soon about when. For now my plan is to track Revo first when it cools down in the next couple weeks, then if/when 034 happens soon thereafter head back to run/log to compare.

with a 3 liter turbo v6, there will be options to go bonkers with it. what other 3.0 liter turbo 6’s do we know of… supra. f80 m3? gtr is 3.6 liter, but still… seems like there is potential for big numbers.

funny, I was talking to Primetime, but as we know that’s an APR thing all around, without discriminating.

you realise the stock B8 probably makes about 370 lb/ft of torque…right?

Not in any dyno test I’ve seen at 034 or my shop in Berkeley. But OK.

I still only get about 310-315 WTQ with a tune. Stock was like 275-280 WTQ. I realize with 104+ octane you can get 335-340 WTQ.

Thats a hard one. Some of the dyno figures are all over the place on these cars. Its hard to tell if its the car the dyno or the tune. The one thing seems to be that Audi under rated these cars actual power from the factory. When you look at the 4,0tt cars they seem to be quire under rated Im not sure if we can expect this same treatment with the new S4

I don’t care about dynos personally

Still no reply from 034, want to do something soon so that likely rules out 034… Seriously considering the APR route trusting the new UC system pans out. Another bonus is I can go straight to Stg II with the Power Play deal for those switching from another tuner for $1300 - (plus labor for the s/c pulley). Thoughts?

I think the next few months will make sense on what direction to go. I dont know what GIAC has up there sleve but APR should have there results coming out soon. I have to admit I expected to hear something from primetime by now and not hearing something from him makes me think maybe the results are not anything too exciting.

Again tho depending on what GIAC is doing the fact that APR is still spending time working in the platform shows they are working to be the best. It would make more sense to go with the solid choice of APR than to just try out 034.

Just my thoughts. I would still like to see what APRs work has resulted in

The Unitronic fellow is local to me and his results look very promising- not to mention they’ll deal too for swithing from another provider- hoping to hear something from Ron about what the UC performance is like- don’t need too much info just a nod whether the APR system will be worth the wait

We need an update on any JHM development. There was the one B8 that went 11.6@118 on a super basic tune with really modest timing parameters, that the owner unfortunately sold when he got an irresistible Dela on a C7. Well he traded back into a B8 facelifted S4 so I’d love to hear what’s going on. Just tune and pulleys I believe in the old car.

GIAC’s dual-pulley file is at my dealer being loaded (should be either the last, or second to the last iteration depending on how it reacts to a 50/50 ethanol mix with their “supplemental” LPFP booster) for a 57.55 s/c pulley + upwards of at least a 194mm crank pulley.

Unfortunately my passenger side s/c intercooler decided to spring a leak into cyl #3 and causing some misfires during start-up and high RPM/high load situations (CEL/EPC), so the intercooler is at that dealer getting replaced over the weekend.

I know the car wont’ perform as expected in my current weather, I’m more curious to see if we need to make changes to the fuel tables on the 50/50 mix. Time will tell.

So my first track day didnt go so well as evidenced by a less than stellar best 60’ of 1.99, followed by a 2.03 and 2.28- I just could not get the car to launch, obviously. That’s my first and last with the Revo setup and I’ll have another go in the spring with a different tune. Roby with Unitronic setup didn’t have any better luck this time out either so he’s still sitting @ a PB of 11.55.

Are you still on the revo tune. I was thinking APR was going to show us some results from the new set up they had but have we seen any results yet

That was with Revo-12.7 & 12.8 at 109-110 - with a real driver it should have been 12.40 or better.

last Revo pass, APR is next- better than I expected though:

Looks great, right in line with other REVO times for sure!

On a side note, the GIAC dual-pulley B8 file is ready (or has been ready for awhile now…), and I gave GIAC great feedback on the beta file for their 3rd revision on the B8.5 file which I feel is production ready, so I think the B8.5 file will be released soon.

this is good news so you were able to get GIAC to get you a dual pulley file. So you were able to take off that other electronic thing you had on to trick the car. Any runs at the track. It would be interesting to hear your impressions on the difference between the two.
