Switch from Revo to GIAC

It does make me wonder, if we ever cross that 125mph 1/4 mile trap threshold (or closer to 128-129mph actual because of the drag strips averaging the MPH in the last 60 ft), the B8.5 may hit that sooner because they are near the heart of 4th gear and the B8’s would require an upshift to 5th.

thoughts? I don’t think we will ever exceed that 125mph with our stock blower though lol

I will be jumping on the GIAC bandwagon next week, taking advantage of the Holiday sale. Just wanted to post what I found out that may be helpful to someone else?

They have a tune that allows you to use your own pulley. It’s a FORGE Stage 2 ECU tune. It is a perfect fit for those of use that already have a pulley installed. I spoke to Connie and Seth at GIAC about it. Plus later you can upgrade to the DP tune for about $400 once you are S2.

I had not heard of the FORGE tune before, so I just wanted people to know they have an option.

I’m pretty sure they dumb the file down, but Loe would know better… I think there is a post on vendorzine about it somewhere… Go dual pulley and mod that puppy up so you and I can do some vids out at Thompson…

Loe did tell me that, so I checked with them(3 times) to confirm. I was told by Seth that was not true? So I can only tell you what they told me? LOL. I told Loe, I guess we could, I mean “I” could, log the timing to confirm I was in fact getting more than 17* of advance?

Next year I will definitely head out to Thompson with you!

I’m running that file as well since I have the APR blower pulley. The only difference is our pump files top out around 18-19* of timing versus the 23 the AWE/GIAC file can make… It’s a bit underwhelming coming from the 21* my APR pump file made…

You still get the monster race file though which is great. I would love to eventually get a more potent pump file. I’ll ask them about that next season.

That must be fairly new because when I looked in to GIAC, hence the reason I started this thread about 8 months ago, they said I could not use my current Revo pulley. Good news if they’ve made that change- but if the pump file is a “light” version I’m not sure that’s what I’d want though. I do wonder how the Revo DSG would work with it- or if anyone has ever mixed the 2?

Thanks for the post. Give us your thoughts after you make the plunge. its good to see giac offering new options

I must say with the feedback from this thread, that I am confused about that file? I honestly don’t want to be handicapped in timing? Are there any GIAC reps on this forum? I know this is not like the “other” forum, but it would be nice to clear this up before I purchase? I would get the AWE file but I have limited funds and wanted to spend that $ on a TCU tune instead of an AWE pulley I will never use?

If you don’t run 93 often, the Forge file is fine, especially if you plan on running race the majority of the time as its almost identical to the AWE race file. I actually thought it was a 17* file, but Muneeb would know the file better than me. The AWE file will hit 22-23* up top on the pump, and 30.75* (maybe 31 every so often) up top on the race file.

Thanks Loe, I was going to run the 93 most of the time, but I can easily do the 93/E85 blend and run the race file I guess?

I have the CW installed right now but, do people stack the Stage 2 with the Chipwerk? I know people with the DP tune stack, but didn’t know if there was any reason to continue using the CW, with a regular Stage 2? I plan on a pulley later on in the next 6 months. I can post a seperate thread if that is forum protocol?

BTW, this morning I was attempting to uninstall the CW in preparation for the install of the GIAC file scheduled for this afternoon. And I broke one of the factory (black) 90* covers. Does anyone know where I order a new one? (dealership only?)

You dont have to post a new thread but it might be helpful to others looking to find more information.

is this difference attributed to the requested timing or the amount of timing pulled?

Or even that ignition timing is still dependent on load (MAF), without that number its hard to compare timing between tunes.

Log files as promised. Primetime and I went out on Saturday morning to umm, Mexico and logged a little.

Outside temperature was 30* F, I ran 93 octane. Let me know what you guys think?

Greg, Again nice to meet you and glad I could help… As we discussed there is no way this is the same as the “normal” AWE file. Pulls way too much timing for 30 degree weather and bypasses boost on top of it… Let me know if you want to test the race file as the weather should be good again Sat. Keep me posted either way!

Mike, thanks again for spending time with me last Saturday! I wonder if we log again with 104 in the tank, and test both the FORGE file and the RACE file? That way octane (winter blend) will not be the issue? I have reached out to GIAC so they can review the log files. I will keep you posted. Can’t log this weekend, I will be in Pittsburgh, maybe next week?

I didnt look at the logs but I will say this our winter blend seems to be a bit lower on the octane scale then normally advertised. So to some extent seeing a little more pull then in the summer wouldnt be too far out of the question depending on how much pull we are talking about.

Huge props to Primetime for continuing to help the community.

I have been in touch with Seth from GIAC and the suggestion was made to try either Shell 93 or an E85 blend. So last night I was down to vapors in the tank and I filled up with 5 gallons of E85 and 10 gallons of 93. I could not log last night due to weather, but may be able to on my way home today? I will post new logs as soon as I have them.

The people at GIAC have been very helpful and I hope it is just an octane issue, which in the winter, I can live with.

I hope it ends up well…

Although to logs look good, it could be better and I’ve seen better out of the AWE file.

OK, I leave one more log with 2 runs in it. I will get them up later to my Google drive. I honestly have no real clear idea what I am looking at, but they seem to be making a little more sense. This tank had 5G of E85 and 10 G of 93. I see no timing being pulled but I want to get another set of eyes on this.
