Teaser: APR 3.0 TFSI Stage III Supercharger System

ooohhh. was hoping more a B8 avant, but still. any links, or just a local guy?

It seems it’s using Bosch MED9, which seems to have ECU flashloaders available (even through the OBDII port) so a blower conversion to a 3.2 FSI ‘should’ be tunable by a local shop…

what’s a used TVS1320 worth? I think you can get one new for $2000 or so. I can’t see a used one commanding much.

The R&D to build a 3.2 TVSr1320 kit using the S4 hardware would be probably be tuning company type work, rather than ‘I’m going to try this’ type work. So to that end, I don’t think you’d have a big market for the parts until that has been done.

Would be a cool project for APR. Act as a middleman, run a core program for B8 S4 guys who go stage 3, and then sell to A4/A5 3.2 guys.

I think it’s worth a fuckload more than that…the entire module, in which the 1320 is integral, is likely to bolt right up to the 3.2 - it even says in the “self-study guide” to the 3.0T that the intake was basically adapted from the 3.2 - I wonder if the head had any port changes to it at all. The block IS the same…

All said and done, you should be able to make a 350-400WHP 3.2FSI out of this “bolt-on”, if the tuning was figured out on MED9, which is in the public domain. And a damn easy bolt-on, at that, just have to get a pump and rad for the intercoolers.

why would you only make 350-400 whp?

Anyway, I don’t think it’s worth a ‘fuckload more’ than that. Someone just listed a barely used 3.0T inlcuding supercharger etc + 8 speed transmission for $6,000.

I’m not into inflated numbers, but I’d guess 350whp pump/400whp race is typical tuned 3.0T performance. If anyone thinks 12.4 pump and 12.0 race is slow, well that’s up to them, I guess.

I want the link for that motor, I couldn’t find it when you talked about it last time…

Pushing a TVSr1320 to it’s max on good pump gas should push 400 whp without question. The RS4 kits trapping 116-118 are getting a little over 400 on pump. The B8 guys running low low 12s @ 115 are certainly making close to 400.

search for it maybe next time?

Oh, and 8 days, and zero offers.

Still, dot you think that’ll be a worthwhile upgrade?

3.2 FSI is also Simos

what gave you the impression that I didn’t think it would be worthwhile? Was it the part where I said it would push closer to 400 whp? Or the part where I said it would be a cool project? Yeah, I must be just being a hater again. I forgot you own a B8, thus you take whatever I say and invert it.

Ha, yes exactly. B7RS4V8itis, you fucking hater keep turning it back to the 4.2FSI…

You said it would be a cool project for APR, I was hoping it would be a cool project for anybody.

But apparently it is pretty much limited to APR, or GIAC at this point, thanks to the news from silentbob (hey buddy!).

Should be Simos, which is why we never bothered with it in the past.

I’ve actually discussed this a little bit with engineering. The cost and time associated with it probably would not be cheap. And would there even be a large enough market to justify doing so? I still think the idea is pretty cool though.

And well there you go.

Are all 3.2FSI’s using the Conti? I can understand the Q5, maybe the B8 cars, but even the B7s and C6s?

You know, it’s just not APR’s style (in my eyes) on this kind of project - APR would spend WAAAYYY to much time, engineering, money to make sure it’s a perfect system that has been thoroughly tested. Your overheads and margins are just too high for this sort of work, and nobody will spend what will likely approach $8000 on this system from APR…

This is more of a hack for a smaller shop to do, make a name for themselves on a relatively slim margin. Say a $3000 kit which consists of injectors, tuning, pump and HX for the intercooler, the necessary sensors and the OEM pulley parts, assuming they are different.

So seriously, was conti on ALL of the 3.2FSIs, or just the last couple models like the Q5? I see references to MED9.5, I didn’t make that up myself.

I honestly don’t know but the ones that are should be Siemens Simos 6.2.

nice looking cat, coon cats are the best

This thread is hilarious! Arin answering questions while others posting kitty pics, aquariums, and rc cars!

I’m not 100 but 99.9 % sure that all B7 and C6 are. Bosch is out of the V6 gasoline thing at VAG for quite some time. VR6 is all Bosch.

The 3.2s are Simos’ engines. I don’t see mass air flow sensors on the RS5 so they maybe in charge of that too. Simos uses the speed density system with MAP sensors as Bosch uses mass air flows.
