Updated Vbox list.....

Wow! That is one sharp RS4… those rims really suit it well… Do you know what the weighed?

Thanks bro… They were actually fairly light for 20’s. if I recall correctly 52.5lbs for the whole combo

Lol less than my stock 18" Avus at 56 lbs

Would be interesting to see you guys test the effect of elevation drops. On my car the difference is pretty significant for the short test (60-90, 60-100). These runs done within 30 minutes. I deliberately started at a spot that was higher up on the second ones. Pretty amazing how much of a change resulted. Did about 6 runs in total, and the ones where the elevation was the same, the times were within 3 hundredths of a second. The one where i started at teh high spot, getting the advantage of the drop of about 5-15 feet depending on the run, it was a little better than 2 full tenths. And that’s from a 1.5 and 1.3% change in elevation vs. each other. Imagine a 0% run vs. a -2.98% run. The difference would be probably 3 or maybe 4 tenths on a short run like this. On 60-130…who knows. That 6speed list is kinda bogus.

60-90
0.80% elevation drop 4.12 seconds
2.3% elevation drop 3.93 seconds

60-100
0.70% elevation drop 6.04 seconds
2.0% elevation drop 5.80 seconds

something like this, using Cartest. It’s using real physics for drag, mass, rotating mass, etc.

Yes it’s very significant in the 60-130, finding those exact elevations on real roads may be a challenge

Again for tailwinds

Saki we will try and get some 0% decline v. 2.9% decline this week. I’m getting a new Stage 1 file to optimize for my mods from GIAC, according to my logs I’m reaching the max torque which is why my car is not seeing much of improvements up top. As soon as I confirm that everything is good with my Stage 1 I will be organizing a day with AWE and GIAC to get a pulley on the car. They will be starting with a stock car with just a pulley and tune and make their way to me.

Good to hear there’s progress. Did they give you a time frame? Are they still looking for a stock DSG car for testing?

I’ll ask him when I talk to him

GIAC Stage 1 6MT
Mods: AWE Exhaust, CPS, Testpipes, Roc Intake
60-130: 11.41s

REVO Stage 1 DSG
Mods: AWE Exhaust, Roc Intake, LW Wheels
60-130: 11.01s

E92 M3 DCT
Mods: Eisenmann Race Exhaust, drop in filters
60-130: 11.67s

DA was -2116 and temp was 30 degrees.

So it looks like M3 is about as quick as average tuned B8 S4 DSG, depending on DA. As far as I understand, M3’s NA engine does not benefit as much from a cold weather, so during summer times M3 is probably quicker than Revo or APR St II S4.

opposite… The m3 loves the cold dense air.

Both car should be equally effected really… However in the summer the m3 and it’s lack of any air cooling will see it suffer more.

Anyway that’s pretty tidy for that m3 wih just an exhaust. Ny07rs4 had a 12.19 time at that spot with similar da with a similarly not modded rs4 (lw rotors and tubi mufflers but stock downpipe eaust and tune) . The m3 can really fly up top. Wonder if the dct holds it back at all and where his shift points are?

Agreed, the M3 definently benifits from the cold air and is equally effected by the heat if not maybe a tad bit more effected than the S4. The M3 is a very quick car, especially up top. Stock for stock I think the M3 is a little quicker than the RS4 and a Stage 1 S4 being a little quicker than both, not by much though.

The DCT shifts really nice, however it doesn’t shift as fast as the DSG in the S4 and you can even hear it as well as see it on the vbox graph.

What I don’t understand is that I’ve seen so many videos stock for stock of RS4 v. M3 and even RS5 v. M3 and the M3 always ‘walks’ away. That never made any sense to me and this just proves that point even more. The owner of the M3 also said his exhaust is the best available on the market and he also has the highest flowing air filters. Not sure how true that is but he said it and I figured it’s worth mentioning.

On the M3 forum it seems a normal for a stock E92 M3 is 12.5-12.9 depending on the conditions. Our conditions are near perfect so id say a bone stock would go low 12’s by us.

The rs4 doesn’t seem to have that same top end as the m3 in all the online stuff you’re right. Although I see lots of 1/4 mile stuff that indicates that is indeed the case. The m3 really does pull away stock for stock.

I have raced three different 4.0 m3 at the drag strip. About half a dozen passes against them head to head and I also watched them make lots of other runs

  1. Stock cab dct- beat him by bus lenths (high 12’s for me, mid 13s for him) but his mph was about same to 1 mph better than me both times

  2. Sedan manual with exhaust and rear tires - very close but I beat him heads up by a tenth but he trapped 112 while I was 107 or 108. His best was slightly slower et than mine but his traps were way better all day

  3. Coupe manual with tune, pigges, filter - as above I was faster et in all but one run where he got me by 0.02 seconds… But his mph was better all day. My best et was 12.83 that day, his was 12.87. He struggled launching in the cold. My 60’ times were bad for the rs4 in the cold that day high 1.8-low1.9 but he was like 2.1-2.4. My best mph was 110, his best was like 114-115 on bad et and 113 on good ones. Another rs4 there with us went 12.47@113.7 with pigges, no tune.

That last m3 owner used to have an rs4 wih tune and full exhaust and clutc and he went 12.28 @ 112.45 in about 1000 feet of da worse conditions. He has e put his m3 for sale and is going to buy an rs4 again.

Traction is a helluva drug!

Traction really is such a big advantage with these cars, especially the RS4- I miss dearly launching that car. It just felt so good from a dig.

I really love how the RS4 really stacks up well with the M3 which is the same up to 2012 while the RS4 was a 2007 model and was the bench mark… Looks like the bench mark doesn’t wanna give up the throne

I always considered an RS4 again because as I rack up the miles on my B8 I always have my eye out for a new car… One part of me wants to get wild and go TTRS, another part wants to stretch the budget and go RS5 but that other part of me wants to find that perfect Sprint Titanium RS4 and call TTS and go balls out… Who knows… But I’d sure love me another RS4.

Problem with the RS4 now is that it’s 4-5 years old now, so you’re at the mercy of 1, 2 or even 3 previous owners. You really have to choose your spots. Since there’s so few of them around that’s tough to do.

RS5 will be shockingly good with a couple of simple mods. That transmission is a real difference maker when you’re accelerating through a few gears. Just makes the AWD cars even more foolproof.
