Updated Vbox list.....

Thanks for he update.

This info jumped of the page to me:

  1. The giac car ran catted + stock clutch and then ran clutch master clutch and 034 test pipes and saw zero difference

That’s pretty huge because we have seen most guys gain from going cat less or high flow.

  1. that rs4 that really isn’t modified much at all is right there at 12.19 seconds, which is a good 3 seconds faster than your other RS4 data for stock or near stock cars. That’s pretty dramatic. Da plays a big part of that but when you consider he has heavy wheels, no tune, stock catback and all four catalytic converters… That’s nuts. -the cats alone on the rs4 really hurt it.

A local rs4 and I both hit the strip a while back and all he had was gutted precats and intake spacers and he frigging crushed me. 12.8 @ 109 vs his 12.4@113.

If Paul gets his precats gutted he will be into the elevens comfortably. Heaven forbid he should get tuned or put a 2.75" exhaust on there and get his stock weight wheels back on.

What happened to the rs4 not responding to mods and needing torque again? :-\

Yeah I was expecting better gains from the test pipes. Who knows… The 50-130 time was about 0.31 secs faster. Something might be up with his car. Top end is not where it should be. Might be tune issue.

Wonder if the APR setup would benefit from them. I am tempted still. Might do when I do my clutch. They just are so damn loud and don’t sound that good unless on WOT.

Paul’s car is running great. Yes that carbon clean and the LWCP/intake spacers def helped.

He needs to slap that other stuff on soon - although I think we will be testing the car again in the spring per Paul. Won’t have those insane DA’s and I think the reason we are seeing that much difference between the 2 RS4s is that carbon buildup on Tony’s car (+20K miles since I believe). It def is noticeable up top between the two of them.

Weird my winter wheels were lighter than my 19s by ~5lbs per corner. didn’t help that much in my 60-129.87 times. Couldn’t hit 130 with them.

Still trying to get Mr Richi to come out and see what the Eurocode headers do compared to Luis’s similarly equipped car sans headers. I don’t think we will see that much improvement.

Rotating weight is like dropping a multiple of itself in regular sprung weight. I. E. A lb on the tires is far more important than a lb of sprung weight in the cabin.

Do a test… Run your car solo, then do it with a passenger. Difference should be noticeable. 24 lbs of wheel and tire weight will shown up as well.

Look at Jnaut… He ran 12.84 bone stock in his rs4 on 93 pump gas . Then he loaded on some lightweight rotors, lw flywheel, lwcp, intake spacers and light seats. With that, in worse density altitude he ran with some race gas mixed in for 99 octane and went 12.2 @ 112.

Pretty big gap for just a little weight and octane.

Ya I hear you about rotating weight. Just didn’t notice that much difference when I did pbox testing on my winter and summer wheel setup. Just thought it was weird. I am putting my winters on again and will retest now that I have some decent data for the summer wheel setup I still have on. If there was a difference it was miniscule.

Tsivas, As always good stuff… Why no 1/4 mile runs from the GIAC car? He has a good clutch and has been posting launch vids on that other forum… If I look at the Revo car’s 12.26 1/4 mile his 60-130 was 11.31 and the GIAC car was 11.48 so about .17 slower or a 12.4x 1/4, and he thinks he has an 11 second car… To bad paperbag isn’t on the east coast… lol Thanks for sharing as always… I can’t wait for spring…

Lol at paper bag. That’s great.

Also why no quarter mile from the rs4

Also why you guys haven’t gone to ATCO or whatever yet is getting hard to tolerate. We are inches from calling you b5 s4 guys

LOL we have to STEP IT UP. :stuck_out_tongue:

It was a miracle from above to even get this RS4 to come out this last time. His runs were completed very quickly.
Someone doesn’t trust my system/setup/private track :’(

Having him stop and do launches… you would think Homeland Security was on our tail with his paranoia. Definitely wasn’t happening.

Sorry bud just busting chops. ;D ;D

Did you just way the wheels or wheels and tire? if so, the tire maybe cutting into the weight savings. Also, I always weight my wheels and tire myself… don’t trust the manufacturing specs.

Good data non the less… But as others have said you guys need to hit the strip because I have no clue what my car would do 60-130mph so I’m finding it hard to wrap my head around a comparision.

Wheels tires bear. My winter setup weighs 45 lbs per corner. (Weighed em myself)

Summer titaniums with pirellis I weighed at 50ish lbs.

Take vbox to track next time like Ron did and run to 130.

How’s about you guys just get off your asses and quit avoiding the frigging dragstrip!

In case you haven’t noticed, not many guys care how their car does while tripling the speed limit… But just about everyone cares how it does through the first few gears.

You are driving a b8 s4 tsivas, not a 1200 whp rwd supra. You don’t need excuses to avoid the dragstrip. Your car is perfectly suited for it.

I’m not avoiding it. I’m not as devoted to quarter mile times as u are. I have my reasons. And I’m being dead honest.

Most of the races I have aren’t at a stoplight anyways. I drive normal 99% of time.

I can make a 30mph to 90mph-100 database (first few gears sans launch) if u want also. That’s usually the scenarios I see on open roads and cars I come across. Rarely do I see a 0-60 chance.

If I had a DSG - I’d probably be more interested in dig runs/top quarter mile times and travel the 1.5 hrs to the track. Especially with my obsession with numbers and data. Some days I wish I had a DSG for that reason. .

I have the 6MT and it’s not the best (in my hands at least) to launch so there’s my lack of interest. I don’t pretend to be the best manual driver- definitely am not- and I really don’t have confidence launching this car. I have tried.

I really don’t feel like frying my daily driver clutch - for what? We already know we aren’t touching the dsg times (0-60/ ~3.7-3.8 secs) with the stock clutch. The 6mt 1/4 times on the database are awful for the most part.

If there is a better solution down the road that is better capable to do hard launches - sure I’ll be happy to go. I wish JHM would make something like you guys have.

Being down a car, having car towed home 100 miles by AAA and explaining a $1500 clutch upgrade to wifey isn’t something I want to deal with right now.

She tolerates my car obsession to a point.

I have tried launching my car a ton. There’s a whole lot of clutch smell and 50/50 chance it goes well.

I am not calling you out, just messing with you.

I think you’ll enjoy the strip. If you bare burning your clutch up on launch, you’re doing it wrong.

First gear
Esp all the way off
Clutch in
Hold rpms at 3200 rpm
When ready, in one swift motion get off the clutch and slam the gas to the floor.

I’ve done it half a dozen times on three b8 s4s and it’s very successful with no clutch smell ever.

Were any tuned? I seemed to have more success when I was stock.

Since stage 2- it’s been more difficult.

Stage II drops full boost down to 3000 rpm…and all the torque that comes with it. No wonder.

Last year, we went the first weekend at ATCO, and that was the end of February. They were literally scraping and pulling last years rubber off the track in 1/2" thick chunks. Englishtown had just opened that same weekend…

I agree with Sak… TK, you and Pete should hit the strip when it opens with the rest of last years gang, opening day…!

Isn’t it still open?

No it closed on December 15 th I believe. The track was sold to the Capone family but it will allegedly operate as it has previously. I guess we’ll find out in feb when the track usually reopens.

Bummer so I can’t Bitch at you guys till Feb?

the Capone family…or THE Capone family?

Lol yeah I had to search that myself. Seems the Capones were an unrelated drag racing “Family”…

Hahaha, not THE Capone family. THE Capone family is no longer in the NY/NJ area…

February is always a touch and go schedule based on weather. Mid March is when you start to see a more regular schedule that includes test and tunes etc.

What you guys dont have paperbags on the east coast? Thats sad.
