Updated Vbox list.....

I assume the S4 will be the DD so I’m a bit confused as to why you’d want to modify it further and run the increased risk of problems? Also, what alpha kit are you looking at? Why would it become undrivable?

I do think tons of people will up the ante on the B8 S4. Look at the B7 Rs4. There are only 2000 of them in North America and I could name 30 guys who have supercharged B7 RS4s…and for the last 5 years the kits were ABSOLUTE DOGSHIT (as you know). Now that there are 3-4 kits performing phenominally, and the cars are out of warranty and into the hands of enthusiastic modifiers, the chart of modified supercharged RS4s will turn into a hockey stick. Hell 2 of the guys who purchased early kits have upgraded to bigger kits (kryptonik and rocketman). Apr sold over 100 TVSr1320 kits for the RS4. You don’t think there’s a big enough market there for someone like AWE to make stage III kits for the B8? If they sell 200 kits, that’s likely around $2 million in revenue. There’s a big chunk of profit in there.

You’re right about the B5 thing. I did a poll on audizine a few years ago asking what stage B5 owners were. I figured stage 3 guys would be like 20%.

I was shocked it was actually much higher. Around 60%. That was primarily because so many of them blew K03s (this was in like 2011, and th majority of those cars were 10 years old. Buying expensive K03s for your $6,000 car didn’t make a lot of sense, so many of them just went stage ‘3’ which was actually stage 3 minus since they didn’t upgrade anything but the turbos. Stock tuning, fuelling and intercoolers on tons of those supposed stage 3 guys.

Since APR seems to be very thorough before releasing a product, I was expecting that the overall reliability wouldn’t suffer considerably. Even though it’s a dd, if I can make it a bit quicker and more fun without sacrificing much, I would be very interested. I was looking at an alpha 9 for the 911. By undrivable, I meant that it would be a bit of overkill for anything other than track use at which point it would be just plain dangerous for me to utilize those power levels. The car is plenty fast as it sits now imo.

B7 RS4 $35,000ish) + JHM or TTS or AVIVA supercharger and supporting mods like clutch ($15,000-20,000) = low 11s @ 125+ MPH on pump, 6MT trans in every one of them.

I see what you’re saying and agree that APR is very thorough as is AMS. The Alpha 9 kit for the 997 TT is good value for performance in my option. I guess I was just thinking that several guys are driving AMS products with far more power than you’d get with the Alpha 9 kit with little to know issues. Also, I must commend you on your level of restraint as there would be no way I’d be able to drop that kinda cash on an alpha 9 kit and not take it out for a spin on nice days! lol!

Driving is one thing. Daily driving is another. I don’t think too many guys have 1000 hp cars that they take out on thursday for groceries. Having a slightly tail happy 500 hp 911 is one thing. Nearly doubling it makes it a very different car.

i TOTALLY would if i could tho lol. ideally a new rs6 avant with 1000hp. great grocery getter monday thru sunday hahaha

I think you’d be surprised… Switzer makes the USE GTR that’s 1000+hp on pump and is totally daily drivable. Also, it seems that at that power level you are given multiple maps for the same fuel that can range from 700-750hp during conservative (Economic mode? lol!) to 1000+hp on kill mode. I think the days of 1000+hp single turbo’ed Supras which were terrible to drive on a daily basis is just not the norm for current 1000+hp cars. I think companies like Switzer and AMS realize that customers want the mythical 1000+hp number but also want the comfort and civility of a daily driver.

when I was in Europe last June/July I really fell in love with the C6 Rs6 Avant. More so than the RS4 avants I saw. That’s just an absurd car. Wish we could have them here.

so then i guess i’m not the only one disappointed with the rs7?(aesthetically speaking of course)

I went with GIAC knowing damn well that APR was developing a Stage 3 and AWE/GIAC had no mention of it. Stage 2 is more than enough for me for the time being. If i crave more power I rather trade my car in for a used C7 S6 and go APR stg1 than drop $10k on a supercharger kit.
