Yes easier to go from 30 mph to top speed roll than stopping on a road with cars coming up behind u. Even as deserted as the test track is- there are cars that somehow sneak on ;).
ah I thought it was quiet.
still though, worrying about the cops for a 1/4 mile run makes no sense when you’re comparing it to doubling the speed limit
Our spotting system works out well for rolling runs. I’ve perfected it.
Road not that deserted to stop and light up your brakes lights to a full stop and then launch.
Besides he said he was going to track in late fall with a bunch of us.
makes no sense. Sounds like 1/4 mile avoidance to me!
Is this the B5 vendor forum on AZ???
I’ll explain more if you want via email.
A 30-100 pull pre and post mods should provide some useful info and it’s not that crazy a top speed.
Most of us around here do pulls in real world driving anyways. 30-100 fits that perfectly for a typical situation.
Lol
?
Just posted updated list with most current times. Sorry was lazy - no description.
Still working on that damn RS5 though.
Ah ok
Which cars are new?
Auditide’s newest GIAC time, his pop’s time also- revo stage 1. And m5.
what was the change in mods/times on the auditude GIAC car and revo car? You should leave the old times in (in case you didn’t - can’t tell with no names).
Interesting to see the variance on a car from day to day…in different weather etc.
also, you should do a launch control vs. no launch control comparo if you can get your hands on a stock and modded 2011+ DSG car.
See if launch control is more or less effective than just launching off idle like the 2010 guys…and see if it is any more or less effective on a tuned car.
Change was just DA for both cars.
Previous times
GIAC 12.37s +810 DA
REVO 13.27s +1950 DA
New times
GIAC 12.18s +449 DA
REVO 12.48s +449 DA
both run higher/much higher timing than my setup and had much more timing pull in warmer weather. cooler temps def will help them.
We tried launch control vs none at etown last year on Trinacria’s car. Was just stage 1 APR at time. Stomp and go had faster times for us.
got the data on that? (launch control). Clochner and TheKB and I were discussing it in TheKB’s launch control thread here
p.s. I thought auiditude’s dad’s just a tune REVO car had the best time on your list (B8 wise)?
sorry for triple post lol
Might be able to…I need to dig up Trinacria’s time sheets from last november.
Last year when we did winter testing a 6mt apr stage 2 v2 car ran best time. 11.6 vs 11.88 for revo.
Pete’s dad had second best winter time. He has added exhaust/intake since then.
Guess we will see how he does this winter with -1000 DAs lol
tsivas27, do you have any possibility to log 60-130 for some 2013 S4? Theoretical calculations show is should be significantly slower than B8 due to much longer gears and short-shifts. Would be really interesting to check how it is in real life
Where did you see that? ^^^
What I saw was great gearing on the 2013+ cars. The only ‘longer’ gear was the top gear in the DSG car, which nobody is using for racing. They made 7th a taller gear in order to rev the engine a little lower when you’re cruising, saving fuel and in theory, saving a little wear on the engine.
edit: jimmybones posted this the other day (+karma for him) . Looks like gears are a hair different. Same final drive.
The S-tronic gear ratios are:
2010 2013
- 3.69 1. 3.692
- 2.24 2. 2.150
- 1.56 3. 1.406
- 1.18 4. 1.025
- 0.92 5. 0.787
- 0.75 6. 0.625
- 0.62 7. 0.519
Final 3.88 Final 3.875
Also see the thread at AZ, where dparm did a great job drawing thrust curves.
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/510547-2013-DSG-has-different-gear-ratios-than-2012-DSG
This only relates to s-tronic S4s, 6MT gearing stayed the same. Interesting though, 2013 RS5 s-tronic gearing remain the same as 2012 S4 s-tronic gearing.
So it looks like B8.5 can have about the same ET, but lower trap speed and significantly slower 60-130.
If tsivas can only test this at his track
