And let’s focus on the middle class couple whose rates increased and ignore the millions who had zero insurance prior to Obamacare and couldn’t get coverage.
Yup, the US, land of the dicks who complain about having to pay a little more although they can afford it and fuck over the millions of people living at or under the poverty line because as we’ve seen, they just don’t matter.
And since they don’t have any money and are continually ignored, their voices are never heard. We only ever seem to hear from the ones that actually have money whining and bitching all the time about having to pay a little more even though they can afford it.
It would have been cheaper to subsidize uninsured people directly than implement Obamacare. Economically its not feasible without squeezing the middle class.
Is that so? I wonder how much it would have cost the government to subsidize all those millions of people who couldn’t afford coverage because the private insurance companies were raping them?
And do you seriously thing that would have passed? That’s extremely socialist for the US. Having the government pay directly for these millions of people to receive coverage?? The selfish cry babies (i.e. Republicans) would have had a field day with that one. They would have said it’s just an extension of welfare.
I’m guessing you’re neither a politician nor an economist? If you are one of them, please explain to me how that would have made it into law or a breakdown of the cost differences.
The whole thing will be a mess. Similar thing happened when the Ontario govt mandated minimum coverages on car insurance. My wife’s premium stayed the same but for half the amount liability coverage.
I’m sure this story about healthcare will be repeated many times over and used to feed whatever propaganda any given group wants to push, left and right alike.
18 months ago I would have been rooting for the ACA and universal healthcare. Yet now I watch the NHS in the UK implode. The people within it are noble and hard working; unfortunately the people that run it just aren’t that smart.
And now I sit looking at the Ontario healthcare system wondering how the hell it will ever be sustainable. The answer? It’s not.
I don’t claim to have the solution but it’s not as clear cut as I once thought.
Fact more peole lost there heath coverage because of the obama crime then signed up for this disaster…my and atleast 18 other peole I know lost coverag3 and now pay over 50% more for the same coverage…
A report from the white house shows that 180million would lose there coverage…the president lied…this system sucks the free market is better…jot everything is going to cost what we want but with 80% of the people being happy with there coversge before this disaster its clear the 15% that didn’t pay dont want to pay are now still now paying but the actual hard working man get less coverage for more money and you get to pay for the free loading people too
Don’t let a left wing site looking to lie to you…the obama heath care crime isnt getting more popular unless people hate8ng how the government is fuck8ng this up is how they rate popular…
First, you need to separate emotion from facts. It also appears you are extremely dug into your position/opinion, so its not really beicial to continue the conversation, as it will just be more yelling through the keyboard.
physicians practicing defensive medicine to the max to avoid potential litigation from this sue happy nation (another fucking joke in itself - #1 nation in law suits)
Insurances raping everyone, including the gov’t now
I get pissed off when I’m hearing bullshit selfish whining from well off people who don’t give a fuck about their fellow humans that can barely afford to feed/clothes/house themselves. “Boohoo, I was making $100k and now I’m going to end up taking $95k home instead. Oh, those fuckers making less than $15k should feel horrible that I now take home a few grand less. Those selfish bastards!”
I apologize for letting it get to me, but don’t start on the whole “you’re planted/opined and emotional”. You should have some conversations with the hardcore right wing nuts for a good dose of that.
Yeah, fuck those millions of people that went from zero coverage to some actual coverage. Fuck’em completely. They’re just parasites. You and your 18 people you know each want your couple grand back.
I don’t deny that there’s no perfect system and I myself have lived in the UK and know all about the NHS and as you know, I live in the same province as you right now. So yeah, it’s far from perfect. But then again, the American system pre-Obamacare sure wasn’t working either.
Your last sentence is dead on. I don’t think anyone has the solution because it’s not clear cut. It’s extremely complicated and it’s not simply a question of revamping health care, it’s a question of revamping everything as it’s all intertwined.
Anyway, I’ll bow out of this conversation. As notarmed said, what’s the point. Everyone’s planted in their beliefs and no amount of conversation will change that. People make their opinions based on their personal experiences and what they see first hand instead of looking at the bigger picture.
Axel I like your last post. I can agree with ur concept…the issue for me is low imcome people already had options… the government wsnted people to think there wasn’t any…no children in america before this fuckingmess of a ggovernment power grab… there was no clild tjat didn’t have coverage or didn’t have a program for them to get coverage…
Poverty socks…at the same time we need to look at rhe millions of immigrants thst come here wirh nothing and work hard to make it worj and they work hard to stsy out of poverty…some people are just lazy…
Here is what your missing…there isnt million or thousands that got coverage u have been fooled…if you were trully poor and had issues u had insurance…
Ill say it out load…yes fuck the broke lazy usless. I work hard every day. I know people who lost there big paying jobs to work at McDonalds and take two other jobs…I also know the lazy bums that complain thry cant make it but they have plenty on money fod booze and cigarettes…I don’t work hard so others can get a free ride…you work hard that’s how you get ahead…I decide if I wsnt to donate my money…I do…I dont need the government taking it so it can bs given to more people who choose to be lazy
The problem in America has become an entitlement mentality. It’s gone from “working hard to provide healthcare and retirement for your family” to a mentality that says “I deserve it and the government should give it to me”. There are few places in the world where the “lower class” lives nearly as well as in America.
My wife taught kindergarten in one of the worst parts of TN, my aunt worked inner city for 20 years, and have many other close family and friends who are active in improving the life of those in need. But it’s unreal the amount of people that don’t want to improve anything bc they don’t want to loose the free handouts. Turning down free college education bc it means they won’t receive welfare off the bat, turning down good paying jobs bc of drug testing, mothers telling 14yr old daughters they need to get pregnant so they get more money, parents trying to get their children listed with mental issues so they get more money. And these are not the people “who can’t get a job” these are the people who “don’t want a job”. Why would they. The school my wife taught at was surrounded by pay by hour/day/week hotels and trailer parks, where every one of her students lived.
Last year, out of a class of 25, she saw probably only 5 parents more than twice in the school year and the ones she saw more were just coming to yell about what the school wasn’t doing “for them”. Some never came other than the first day. It was amazing how many kids walked themselves to and from school when their parents were at home but didn’t want to be inconvenienced by having to walk their kid to/from school.
People in need of that level of support should be active every step of the way and appreciative. Not demanding of what they don’t have. I completely understand this isn’t a snapshot of every person in need, there are a lot of complicated circumstances and a lot of people who really use the items they receive. I live in the heart of the Bible Belt, so I’d wage that more volunteer work and donations are done per capita in this part of the country than most. But the entitlement mentality is difficult to fight and it easily spreads.
What amazes more than anything, is how drug testing people receiving government benefits is considered absolutely ludicrous. It’s a job requirement at most workplaces. But to propose that to someone receiving working taxpayers money is out of the question.
I don’t mean to rant. Everyone will agree that the system isn’t perfect and things could work better. But the solution isn’t to pay those in need more of the governments money, it’s to advance them. Government healthcare, food subsides, retirement aid, etc was never meant to be as a sole means of providing. It was meant to be a crutch for those in needs for the short term. We have generations upon generations upon generations living 100% on welfare and government aid. That just doesn’t work, and writing bigger checks doesn’t solve the problem.
You get it maddog we all see it…those that trullt need help have alwsys been abke to find it…those that wsnted more intittlements just got it…no work no incentives just votes for fucking the middle class so the lazy can now get am obama phone section 8 houseing foodstamps well fair and now free health care
Damn right screw them. Work for your own damn shit. The problem with the liberals in America is they think with their emotions and not their brain…perfect example: gun control…can’t look at the facts, just the emotional appeal
And those simple words (and everyone who thinks like you), is why your country is going to shit. Pat yourself on the back. You’ll obviously disagree as you can’t see the bigger picture. All you can see is the little bubble you live in.
If there was more solidarity amongst Americans, if the right and the left could work together (both in politics and among civilians), your nation could actually get stuff done, implement progress, etc. But no, it’s all or nothing. You’re either with me or against me. It’s always black and white. No one wants to compromise, no one wants to look at the other side’s arguments, no one wants to look at the bigger picture or long term.
