Video: Racing a Stage II B8 S4 in my Stage III B5 S4 - copied from vendorzine...

And are you sick of me mentioning the ridiculously low cost modlists of some of the quick RS4s because it’s true? These two aren’t even tuned. You think adding a JHM tune with launch assist is going to slow them down I guess.

Jnaut - LW rotors, LW seats, JHM flywheel, custom downpipes, pump/race mix
12.26 @ 112.98

Mistro - intake spacers, piggies, ecs hpipe in stock catback
12.47 @ 113.7

Here’s what I’m trying to say…

LW rotors are $1300, seats are helping for sure and are probably over $2,000 easy, JHM flywheel is what $750?, custom downpipes are $650? And it has race gas mix in the car which is def helping. That’s not $1,000 in mods.

And 12.47 isn’t low 12’s it’s mid 12’s which I think is where the RS4 is with basic performance parts.

Haha damn how do you guys get all these past posts from years ago? This is nuts.

TRUCE!

$1500, tune pulley all else stock. Race gas like Jnaut…I win…

12.08@115.1

EDIT oh sorry I thought we were all saying the same shit we have been for the last 2 years, figured it was relevant

Auditude, You seem confused. You wanted to see tune/piggies cars running in mid-low 12s and there are 2 of them right there. One has rotors and a flywheel (the seats are nearly irrelevant). One has almost nothing. Neither is even tuned. Both went mid-low 12s. One trapped 112.98 like your dad’s revo car. One trapped 113.7 like your Giac B8 with everything thrown at it.

Why is this so hard?

Let’s look at it another way.

I went 12.75 @ 108.3 last spring (1.83 60’). I had ZERO mods. Bone stock. DA was +300.
I went 12.82 @ 109.9 last fall (1.87 60’). I had ZERO mods. Bone stock. DA was -800. Jspazz kept telling me I was losing tons of time with my tire spinning launches. Who knows what I’d have run if I hooked up. He probably does.

Both times I had never been carbon cleaned. 30,000 miles on the 12.75. 45,000 mlies on the 12.82.

You think that if I gut my downpipes, add a JHM 93 tune with JHM launch assist and get a carbon clean (I just did) I’m going to go…what? What would my car do?

You seem to be fighting this so let me ask you. What will my car do with me driving with tune and piggies? And with jspazz’ coaching.

Congratulations. Post that in the race gas is a MASSIVE factor thread.

0.4/4 dontcha know it…

pretty much. You need to discuss this with Pete, who said above that race gas is a big factor on the RS4.

See that’s a prime example! You had all else stock correct? Stock intake? Stock weight? Stock exhaust?

Just race gas, which Jnaut is running also plus a few g’s in LW mods.

Jnaut’s time is impressive but so is Jason’s. and the S4 only had 1500 into it.

I also trapped 115.6mph on pump the same day. If there was lightweight seats in the S4 you’d be making a big deal- like you did one page back about my lightweight wheels that weren’t even on the car when I ran a 12.1@115.6 on pump. But now it’s irrelevant and so is the race gas in the RS4.

This S4 had $2000 into it. Tune + pulley.

his time is absolutely impressive, and would only need mentioning if this thread were about the B8 S4 not being impressive. It’s not. It’s entirely impressive. The only people insisting on ‘defending’ the B8 S4 are people who think it is being put down. It is not. It’s owners are, but the car itself is fantastic.

I don’t get this B8 defensiveness. Where does it come from? Why do B8 guys always feel under attack when anyone who doesn’t own one speaks about it???

So you’re now saying that saving 60lbs of sprung weight (I believe that’s what JNAUT saved) is the same as saving 50 llbs of rotating mass?

Gotcha.

Remind, me again…when did this become ‘RS4 vs. B8 s4’?

Basically I made a comparison of the nominal modifications you can make to an RS4 and a B8 S4…vs the extensive surgery a B5 S4 needs to go through…and you have turned it into RS4 vs B8 S4.

Mediocre launch, not so great 1-2 shift and I ran a 12.13@115.87 on 93 and stock 19’s.

Stay on point. Answer the question.

I went 12.75 @ 108.36 and 12.82 @ 109.9. With 35-40k miles of carbon.

I just had a carbon clean.

If I get piggies, and a JHM tune, what do you think I would run in excellent DA (Excellent here is around -500 feet…we don’t get the -1000 to -1500 like you guys on the ocean do)

$1500 please read and copy as required Sak

I actually paid less IIRC since I was in FL. Eurocode still made money since their invoice from APR was $900

I saved 8lbs of unsprung weight per corner on my LW wheels setup.

stop boasting about random times that are entirely irrelevant. Answer the question in my post above this one

So I will aks you again since you can’t seem to answer any questions.

Do you think 60 lbs of sprung weight in the cabin is equal to your 32 lbs of rotating mass?

I would say the LW wheels helped slightly more than the LW seats but they still are 100% relevant. Besides, I was on stock 19’s when I ran my 12.1@115.87 and there’s no other NA RS4 even with every bolt on possible that has ran that yet.
