Reading comprehension is not your strong suit. If you spend more time at the track you will learn that there are differences between the groups. Audi is the most conservative and therefore will say things that others don’t. For example, Trackdaze will even record and post lap times for you. Not even to mention the fact that many people now run Harry’s LAP TIMER app! Hmmm, I wonder what a LAP TIMER app does?
He already owns it, that is the comical part. He actually came here once about a year ago to argue if the cost was worth it to him since he already owned the milltek and had Piggies I believe. I guess he decided the cost WAS indeed worth it. He is just part of the QW troll group that doesn’t like JHM customers and feels that somehow by ruining every JHM thread will hurt the guys they have beef with. It’s weird to say the least…
So how do you get accurate lap times when you are waiting to pass, being passed, etc…? I have seen a few of your videos where you are basically stuck behind a car until they wave you around. You think too highly of road race superstar, you aren’t a race car driver, your a hobbyist at best. If you want to get competitive then buy a fucking track car. Beating guys at HPDE events that talk about their dyno at wine tastings isn’t something worth patting yourself on the back so much.
DO you have any pictures of your trophies or you on the podium?
You guys have done a great job of turning this from “hey let’s get a dyno for an additional data point” to “You guys don’t think it makes power so you’re stupid.” Half of the “fights” you guys create in your minds really aren’t.
HPDE is a stepping stone to racing but I don’t expect you all to understand that. And of course your best lap times won’t be in traffic. But guess what!? Every now and then you get a clean lap. Imagine that right?! A lap with no one in your way to slow you down! And, this is crazy, but in that clean lap you get a true lap time. No really, it happens!
Stop trying to turn around your whiny troll bitch fest onto us. JHM posted a customer’s 1/4mile testing data, which is amazingly thorough. Most people said awesome, then came the whiny bitch clan. Asking where the dyno numbers were, “Why didn’t the customer do a before/after dyno?”, drag racing has too many variables…THE SAME BS excuses you trolls always use.
I am asking this without any mal intent - I just want to know - as an owner of this JHM exhaust - what is it you are trying to say in this thread? What is your point?
My reading comprehension is just fine. Oddly enough that is why I posted what I did. The other groups that go don’t interest me right now so I could care less. In case you didn’t know, a bunch of cars have lap timers now so why would you download an app for that. It still doesn’t change the stance of VIR on the topic.
Being conservative isn’t such a bad thing either. It might be a life changing idea but some humility would do you some good.
How many times do people have to tell you to get it through your thick head? Throwing around money doesn’t solve your problems. All it shows is that you can enter your credit card information into an electronic form. Usually I would say that it proves that ink sticks to the paper of your check book but after the app reference above, I would have to assume that you want to be tech savvy enough to use the interwebs. Plus if you were to try ordering something over the phone I would probably hang up on you.
To further my point, lets look at your butt buddy FlyingDickBreath. He recently got Audi ceramic front brakes and while installing them he put his jack stand under the control arms. Common sense is not common and apparently throwing around money doesn’t mean he can even follow basic procedures for working on his car.
Euro has a point and a picture of a great shirt.
Good luck with that e36. I hope that you reinforce the body a bunch because they have more structural problems than my e31.
That still is an unofficial way of tracking your times.
As much as you and I go back and forth and talk trash and name calling, at the end of the day, I respect your brain and reasoning as a fellow Engineer such as myself. I’m sure you remember us having this debate back on Audiworld before you got banned about shift points. If I recall, you were adamant about needing to shift at around 7500 rpm, because from your study of our cars DYNO, the car didn’t make any additional power after 7500 rpm, so it was pretty useless to stay in any gear after that point. So how is it that, in this thread you criticize us for wanting to see a DYNO for the exhaust performance? You also reference that the jhm tune and exhaust net you 35whp or so (from a DYNO).
Secondly, right here in this quote you admit that, Dragstrip times are very dependent on ambient conditions. You know yourself, if its really cold and dry out, you can run a better time and have a “timeslip” to show off and put on your refrigerator? Clearly, both the dragstrip and dyno test can be skewed in either direction based on ambient conditions. You also know, that if you took your same car, and driver down here to HOTlanta, and ran at a dragstrip that is 1300 ft above sea level your times would be in the 13 sec range. So again, extremely dependent on ambient conditions, just like a dyno.
I respect your dedication to the dragstrip and data collection, so why can’t you do the same for us in this regard? By the way, I am at the point of shopping for exhausts, as I’m sure plenty that read online forums are doing the same (even if they don’t post). So why not share all of this information before making a $3-4k investment? Being able to justify this purchase by saying “this guy in Toronto shaved .2 secs off his 1/4 mile” is a little short sided.
The record pass was set on April 7, 2012 at 3ish at Cayuga Raceway. The D/A at that time was 498. The pass with the JHM exhaust was run on April 14, 2014 at 12ish at Cayuga Raceway. The D/A at that time was also 498. The exact same! Both runs happened at the exact same track with the exact same D/A. You seriously can not get a better example of an upgrade making power then what Saki has provided. So, yes, he can say that he installed an exhaust and shaved .2 seconds off his time because it honestly happened. Remember that dyno charts are nothing more then pretty graphs. They can easily be skewed and compromised. In this case there is no arguing with the fact that this exhaust made power.
